  • After 19 months of unearthing, collecting, sorting, organizing, catagorizing, scanning, digitizing and archiving, the Juliet Shaw Legacy Collection is complete. We've moved into the phase of finding a home for and donating this vast collection to a major institution that will preserve everything, including Juliet Shaw's theremin - an instrument that was built for her by Leon Theremin himself.
The web site that was focused on fundraising has been retooled. You can now discover for yourselves the extraordinary life and career of thereminist, Juliet Shaw. For decades, Juliet's daughter, Sandra, has hoped that her other's legacy would someday see the light of day.
In addition to the videos posted here on TH-cam (which are featured on the web site as well), the legacy web site has artifacts not on TH-cam. That said, what you'll see and hear represents just a tiny fraction of the entire collection.
Juliet Shaw's legacy can now be enjoyed by everyone. She takes her well deserved place alongside the handful of first generation thereminists - the musicians to champion Lev Termen's enduring invention. Their dedication, music, and techniques paved the way for the rest of us.
For the first time in over 58 years, thereminists, theremin enthusiasts, and electro-musicians can see and hear more from the Juliet Shaw Collection by visiting:
    www.jshawlegacy.com
If you've enjoyed this video, please spread the word and share the Juliet Shaw Legacy Project with other thereminists, theremin enthusiasts, electro-musicians and lovers of electronic music.

Congratulations Kip, waiting with bated breath for the "Big Reveal" as to where the collection will be housed! Thanks for this important work which I know has taken a huge amount of time and dedication. I sense that it has been a very gratifying journey of discovery for you - thanks for putting it out there for all of us to enjoy! Watching a few of the JS videos that you posted this week - she seems to have been a remarkable woman, so it's wonderful that she can get the recognition she deserves, albeit posthumously. Cheers

Thanks, Emily. We're still waiting to hear about the donation. the institution is conducting their final internal review. We just have to wait and see. I'm asking everyone in the theremin community to please spread the word about the Juliet Shaw Legacy Project web site. So many people expressed their initial excitement about the entire project, but I confess I'm little surprised that so few thereminists are actually exploring the site and Juliet Shaw's life and career. The discovery of her collection and her place in the theremin's history as one of the few first generation thereminists is of incredible significance. I have a little over 2,000 subscribers, and yet, only 29 people have viewed this video in the past month. Where is everybody?
