    Playing this back, I realized I misspoke a couple of times. I referred to this season as Christie Sides' first year as a head coach, when I meant her first two seasons, of course.

      yes, I don't see how people would expect her to throw a coach that took a team to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 with more wins than the two previous seasons combined under the bus. We may have different views on whether that was Sides' good work or "other reasons" but it still needs to be handled the right way. Potentially parting ways on good terms sends a message to future coaches about how the organization treats it's staff..

    • @taggart806
      @taggart806 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@ChrisSavenSH Yep, that's just a good practice in general. You don't trash people you let go, especially publicly and potentially burn future bridges with someone who sees that. I mean what if you are a potential coaching hire and you see a press conference with a new President who comes in and immediately publicly talks about how much the previous Coach sucked (despite going from worst to the playoffs). However, the saying "what got you here won't get you there" exists for a reason .... someone like Krauskopf would understand that. It's entirely possible that Sides was actually the right Coach to get the team out of the gutter and on solid ground, but it certainly doesn't seem to me like she has the skill to take them to the level of a legit and perennial contender.

    I’m a veteran of corporate America. Besides wanting to improve the team and become a top notch organization, the primary job is to hire new people. So far they have brought on 2 experienced executives to be in charge. Now while doing this, there is a PR job to come across as a thoughtful, and responsible culture. The first job was well done. You get rid of Dunn by promoting her to a meaningless position. They probably told her she had a year or two to find a new home. The next job is to find a new coach. Ideally to get rid of a bad coach it’s best to find them a job at a college or overseas. These executives have relationships and can easily make Sides landing somewhere rather easy. But in the press conference you don’t bad mouth Sides, you mention how she withstood such difficulties and got your team to the playoffs. She didn’t once say she was a good coach, that she mad good game time decisions..or that she knew basketball. This woman just gave Sides a recommendation for her next job. These are smart executives, I doubt they want to be in the spotlight answering questions about bad coaching.

    • @jklin2987

      Exactly. You'd never say, "Yes, we need to get rid of Christy Sides, and we're looking for a better fit." That's not the way these things are handled.

    • @JE-IC

      💯. She's addressing this the right way.
      Lin Dunn still has value as an advisor to help the new leadership transition in. I believe Lin Dunn wants to return to retirement. She'll be around long enough to help the new management settle in, then return to retirement. It's the professional way for all concerned to do this.
      I agree that highlighting Sides' accomplishments is appropriate. It shows prospective new coach candidates that this executive doesn't humiliate her staff publicly. It allows Sides to keep her dignity and potentially find a new job that better fits her qualifications.

      FOR me, I would have likely picked up on my interest for the Rest of the WNBA and would have likely tuned in on the rest of the playoffs--at least for a few minutes here and there, if not for the hate and racism and violence and mental attacks on Caitlin Clark. Had Caitlin been treated neutrally or unbiasedly, non-prejudice, I would be okay watching other players or teams. But due to my moral values, there is No Way No How I can support all the racism and hate towards Caitlin from The WNBA/Refs, NBA (they pay the WNBA), and most of the media (BSPN, ABC, Disney, etc), AND Now NIKE, that is the reason. I feel many other CC fans would have also watched at least a little more of the other teams. The Fever WOULD have won their first series vs The Sun and from there maybe have even won the whole thing. But, The WNBA/Refs and the media mentioned above were not having any of it and instead resorted to hate, racism and prejudice, attacking Caitlin's greatness at every turn, which is why they ROBBED her of at least a CO-MVP, and they tried to rob her of the ROTY, too. Now, those evil and wicked BSPN ladies (they know who they are) and others are praising Caitlin and appear happy she won the ROTY ONLY because they robbed her of the MVP award AND because Reese was "injured." These are the reasons why many of us feel vomiting when thing of the WNBA when Caitlin is not playing. PLEASE TUNE IN (IF ABLE) TO WATCH CAITLIN PLAY GOLF THIS SUMMER!!!.....

    • @frankiek2269
      @frankiek2269 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Fever tried to get the ball down the floor as fast as possible practically every play that there isn’t a stoppage. But the other teams have learned to get their as$es back quickly on every play to. After that, you have to play inside out half court ball. Fever just has stagnant movement from their players a lot. They stand in one spot too much. A coach needs to get these ladies on an arc trainer [better on ankles and knees than jogging] doing 6 miles every day. Then they won’t have to stand around when they need a breather because they won’t need one.

    • @tabularasa9554
      @tabularasa9554 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@frankiek2269that mostly counters Caitlin's backcourt quarterback passes to a fast cutter. Caitlin is still the most effective in transition, as long as the ball is in her hands and someone sets a good screen for her. The Fever should also be able to punish double teams on Caitlin... but ofc Sides and Dunn made that almost impossible.

    • @pjkelly7318
      @pjkelly7318 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @frankiek2269 * Uptempo/pace is played in the full court & half court. Spread the court, cut, pick, side to side ball movement, drive & dish. Teams don't postup anymore like back in the old days. Centers are pickers, facilators, 3 pt shooters when their man helps off (Jokic, Embid, Towns, Holmgren, etc, are great examples). They receive the ball at the elbow or at the top of the key. They set high picks, do rub handoffs, etc. Watch the Warriors - Kings game tonight on NBA TV and you'll see uptempo by both teams in the full & half court. I doubt you'll see any postups unless there's a big mismatch in transition. Last years champion Celtics led the league in 3's made and were 2nd in scoring. Their centers were Porzingis & Horford - both rarely if ever posted up. Sides needs to learn uptempo/pace basketball. Boston needs to work on her 3 to fit this uptempo for when her man doubles on CC. Right now she's only a threat on the block which is an easy cover by a helping defender helping the doubler. I'd love to see Mark Jackson get the job. He's an ex Pacer & coached Curry. We need a coach who understands uptempo/pace if we want to maximize CC's & KM's talent.
