What I love about Crime Beat is that you focus on the people who have been taken from their families, and on the families, not on the murderers. That's how it should be. Thank you for handling all of these cases so delicately.

As a mother of two young men I urge parents to monitor the behaviour of their sons towards women, all women. My sons are very aware of how to behave towards women and regularly call out their friends if their behaviour is poor. A few years ago at my son’s 17th birthday a drunk girl was wanting to hook up with someone from the party. One of my son’s friends came in to tell me that the boys were steering clear of her as they didn’t want to take advantage of her. I ended up taking the girl home and was proud that my son and his friends looked out for their female friend. Get involved in your young persons life, and make them accountable if they make mistakes. Much love to Nadia’s family 💕

I was jumped by 5 attackers, for over an hour, they made a shit ton of noise as they jumped up and down on my 14 year old body of 5'8 , 110 lbs. Including my skull. Soccer ball kicks to my face and head. Biting me, laughing and hollering. I was in a park that was surrounded on all sides by houses. Less than 100 ft away, a group of 10 people were on their patio. Not one call to 911 was recorded. Yet when the cops finally become involved, 32 people mentioned hearing my attackers, and then a girl yelling "All of you get off of me, let me go, why are you doing this, STOP!" ..... That was me. I would have died if not for one boy seeing me stumbling around. 1 block from my house, but no idea where I was. But he didn't recognize me, per say.... He had seen me earlier wearing beige shoes, light blue jeans and a white shirt with a tiny logo. They were all bright red and dripping, as well as my hair. It was the logo that caught his eye. My own Grandmother looked at me in the ER, then asked the nurse "can you tell me where my granddaughter is" when the nurse pointed to me, the look on her face was my first indication of just how bad it was. It's one of the last things I remember.
I can not understand how people can hear or see something, that just doesn't feel right, but then do NOTHING. I desperately needed help, I was a 14 year old girl surrounded by adults and families with kids, yet not one person came to my aid nor called the police. Until my friend, 'M' .... he had been watching a movie but thought he heard something odd so he paused and listened. When he heard it again, he went outside to try to figure out where the noise was coming from and what it was .... 'M' .. bravest boy I've ever known, was only just 15. . .
I beg of you, everyone, if you see something, hear something .... SAY SOMETHING! DO SOMETHING!

This, now this, is what you call heroic. The fact that these cops sacrificed their well being to trace down a killer, and even when the commander got shot, the cops stepped forward, and made sure that they did everything, in the midst of shots being fired - wow. That’s what you call heroes. I can’t begin to imagine what Nadia’s family are going through, as I pray that God gives them patience and the endurance to live on with their daughter’s and sister’s memories. It’s hard. But a part of me wishes that the cops acted quick when the school shooting began in Texas elementary school. My heart truly breaks for each and everyone one of them. That's narcissistic sociopathy at its worst. They think they have the right to destroy, or take, someone's life if that someone tells them "no" or dumps them. This poor, smart, beautiful young woman never had a chance, and that is both incredibly sad and immensely infuriating. Thank God he won't be able to harm anyone else ever again!

@@Kari.F. do you think it’s cultural? I had some acquaintances that owned a bar back home. The whole Armenian family worked there. They seemed like very nice people. I used to go to their beautiful home to cut the elderly grandfathers hair. That’s when I saw the relationship between the women and the men in the family. It took me by surprise as the women were expected to do everything for the men. Even the new wife of the son was seemingly expected to anything the men asked; especially the father (the bar owner). I never saw them take off their own shoes, pour their own drinks or accommodate a guest (other than at the bar) after asking if they could get them a drink or snack. (They had amazing food) I saw the man scream at his wife because I wasn’t offered a drink when I came in. It makes for an uncomfortable scene. Now, I do not know if that is normal in their culture or if it was an isolated issue.
Please before anyone comes at me calling me name or some type(s) of ‘ist or phobic, I am asking with the most respect and curiosity. I enjoy watching true crime and I try to understand the path of those who are so either evil Or troubled or both… to commit crimes like this.
I also understand it could be that he is just a sociopath with nothing to do with culture. I have never met a person from Algeria. I will be looking into the cultures there just because now I’m curious.

This piece was done so well. A prime example of what journalism is supposed to be. Rather than just focusing on the killer an what was going through his mind which can be very interesting often distracts from the victim(s). This doc did a lovely job honoring Nadia, her family, their pain, the officers and just how broken all these people were as a result of this awful tragedy. Crime shows are very interesting but its so easy for it to not really set in how we lost someone no matter what led up to it we had one of our own taken from us in an awful way. It was also nice to see that they added the fact that the killer’s mother aided in tracking him. Although its what we all should do in that situation i would never expect someone much less a mother who is in that situation to be able to help turn her son in. Just an unbelievably tragic and heart-braking story. Those officers were heroes and have shown it clearly in the humanity they displayed after the fact. Rest easy, Nadia💙 Thanks to your beautiful family you will never be forgotten.

Please break contact with them at the very beginning if you see this behaviour. It will only get worse.

Those types are all sweet and loving while grooming a woman , I wouldn't doubt that he was loving and sweet one minute that an absolute monster the next and another thing I don't doubt is that she was doing anything within her power to protect her family from him because the obsession descends into madness and the guy will resort to threatening your kids , your parents , grandparents anyone you love or care about, this is how they ultimately gain control too. To those observing them on the night he killed her , they may of thought she looked happy and in love with him, but she may have just been playing that part in order so he wouldn't hurt her family. The only resource sometimes is to tell them what they want to hear , it's either that or they lose it and kill you or your family. Play the part until your in a safe place. I always tell women if your planning on leaving a relationship or want out, just quietly exit, don't warn them or tell them of your plans because serves no purpose other than to fuel the fire.

The police’s job is to enforce laws. Unless they break the law, they can’t do anything. Politicians need to create laws that protect women from these warning signs vs waiting until they’re dead. That’s also why women need to get a gun and learn how to protect themselves. The cops isn’t going to protect you in situations like this

@@dejuhvu1793 I speak from personal experience where my abuser did break the law repeatedly He forcibly confined me and assaulted me and stalked me. Police didn't do anything but give him a warning - I didn't even get a no contact order. Years later I learned he had a criminal record from doing the exact same things to a woman before me (I found the court documents). His criminal record got dropped because he plead to the lesser charge. He then went on to repeat the same thing (forcible confinement, assault) after me to yet another woman who later got in touch with me and is now charging him. The issue is, he escalated after each woman. The fact that this person has "gotten away with it" over and over just makes them more brazen and I truly believe he will kill one day, it's just a matter of time.

Humans are not property. No one should be considered as “belonging to” anyone. The problem is that humans can be quite possessive of one another, and those who can’t cope with rejection end up taking the lives of the ones they cannot have/control/own. Though it mostly seems like a male problem, females can also be guilty of the same behavior. It’s important to recognize the signs of someone like that, make a clean break and STICK TO IT. Going back to them again and then leaving again, trying to remain friends, or trying to reconcile will only get you killed. Get a restraining order, and never go anywhere alone. Don’t post your entire life on social media where they can follow your every move. Carry pepper spray and/or a taser. It doesn’t matter if it’s illegal where you live or not, it’s better to get a citation for carrying it than ending up dead. You have to rely on yourself to save yourself. The police are often ineffective in these kinds of cases and can’t/won’t act until there’s a dead body involved.

This is identifiable with the outbreak of a Narcissism Epidemic . Unfortunately the powers that be are in favor of the spread of Narcissism , knowing it creates more chaos to divide us even more . All one has to do is look and see Adults behaving like Children . They display their self-entitlement , rather than Honor and Integrity . The root problem is mental illness. When mental illness is redefined over and over again to be less of an illness than it was before , making it a new norm once more .
Eventually you have a world full of mentally ill people in the population
doing these things because they have been labeled normal up until the time they commit such an act of violence. This only leads to the continuation of GENERATIONAL DEGRADATION .

🇨🇦Born and raised a Calgarian, this tragedy is absolutely gut wrenching and makes me feel ill. I remember hearing about this and I’m only now finding out about the whole story, knowing that this family has been suffering, in my city!, and I’ve driven up that way occasionally too,,,it’s just sickening that it’s literally in our backyards everywhere across North America and the world for that fact. we’ve had a couple of very deeply sad murders in our city, the Brentwood 5 come to mind, and I grew up in that neighbourhood,,, went to the elementary school just blocks from the house where the son of a Calgary Police Officer had a mental break down and bludgeoned five of his University friends to death all within a matter of minutes… all after spending hours with them and a fun evening of laughter and song and having a campfire in the backyard.
It just proves it doesn’t matter what part of town you live in, these things can, and do happen,,, that’s why you have to be so very, very careful in our world today. I’m a young 50 (something) gal, and it’s truly such an entirely different world that our kids grow up and today compared to what I did or even those that followed shortly after me.
Let’s take better care of each other, and when we do it I don’t care what age it is, have your friends chime in, have people that I’ve known you a long time spend a little time with them and tell you what they honestly think about that person! I wouldn’t give anybody five minutes of my time if they had no interest in meeting the important people in my life in order to progress in our relationship!
I came upon this story because I love researching and watching true crime. Mostly because I love to see how investigators and family put the dots together and “catch” the perpetrators-before they kill someone else.
But that’s not always the case and there are times like this where law enforcement and sometimes bystanders get hurt in the process.
Like one of my favourite true crime utuber Annie from “10 To Life” says, if you see something, say something, if you hear something, say something! If I had heard screaming and potentially gunshots I definitely would’ve called the police, and I’m sure my neighbours would too. That would be so hard to have on your conscience, though, from what they did to this beautiful young gal, I don’t know if they would’ve been able to rescue her in time😥
Sending my hugs and prayers to the family specially the father, and the mother, whom we didn’t even see interviewed because I’m sure she’s too distraught, so I send her my love, hugs and prayers that one day our maker will somehow heal her heart, even if just a little bit🙏🏻 To CPS, depending on how involved you were with this case your suffering will be very different and unique to you, I pray for calmness and the ability to continue fighting for our cities safety, make sure you use the benefits that you are blessed with so you can talk to a professional, and work through your individual trauma….🕊🇨🇦🙏🏻🕊

I just wanted to send my condolences to Nadia's family. She was a beautiful girl that left this world far to soon cause she had so much promise for the future, you could see what a positive influence she had on everyone's life she touched. Thank you to the R.C.M.P. officers that put their life on the line to take down this sick, demented individual and make sure he never had the chance to do this to another woman ever again.

Ladies we have to look out for one another. If something does not seem right call the police. If you hear a woman screaming something is not right.Make an anonymous call if you feel safer but don’t just ignore it. It could be the difference between life or death.

For the Sgt that was shot in the head, and for the fellow officers who ran to pull him to safety, and render aid till the Ambulance came....That just goes to show you the kind of boss he is, and what those officers think of him. Yes, it's part of the job, but also it's in OUR human nature to run and help, when you know a good man's life is on the line. I feel so bad for this family. For losing a daughter to an evil monster. She is dancing with the Angels while he's rotting in hell.

Unfortunately this is what the world is coming too! This is happening more and more because too many parents never tell their kids NO... Then when they grow up and hear the word NO, they don't know how to handle it!!! Rejection is part of life, no we don't like it but it's a lesson that soooooo many kids need!!!! We need to do better for the next generation!!!!

Are you indicating the killer's mother should be held accountable for her evil son's actions? We are currently at a point in society where the entire extended family of these killers need to be held liable and accountable. But most don't want real solutions to these problems. Nadia was a progressive after all as her sister stated. Bad boys do bad things. Time to wise up.

My body is a temple for the Holy Spirit.
      Redeemed, cleansed, sanctified
      by the blood of Jesus.
My members, the parts of my body,
      are instruments of righteousness,
yielded to God for His service and for His glory.
The Devil has no place in me,
      no power over me,
      no unsettled claims against me.
All has been settled by the blood of Jesus.
I overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb

I hope the family can find some peace after such a horrific and traumatic murder, of this beautiful young woman. I trust that the police officers involved, will also find some peace, and be proud to know, that they made a difference to the family, by putting their lives on the line, in seeking justice for Nadia. Also, that psychopath will never be able to harm another woman, ever again! All strength to the family, and to the officers involved. 🤗
