PLEASE READ ! Any Vulcan owners. There is a factory problem with this motorcycle. The front bevel gear (Ball bearing ) is defective. What happens is the gear is poorly made. And eventually will start to deteriorate putting pieces of metal into your engine. And your clutch will go out. And your rear wheel and transmission will lock up. It can happen at any time some bikes it's 50K and in my case it was 14K. You will start to hear a whining in the driveshaft, your clutch will get mushy, and your transmission will lock up. It's a very time consuming and expensive fix for a $30 bearing. This has happened to hundreds of Vulcan owners. They should have had a recall.
i've heard about this fault and my mechanic warned me about it, so i've been doing some digging to find out more and i'm surprised nobody mentioned this before. you are the first one i've seen that has warned about this. thank you!
What models are affected by it? Just the Mean Streak (and Suzuki Marauder 1600) or does it affect other Suzuki Vulcans with 1500 or 1600 engine? I am looking into buying a Vulcan.
added cold air intake and exhaust &fuel controller .had it on a Dyno and in 4th gear it did 127 MPH and yes I said 4th gear and had 1 gear left to go , I've had the bike 2 year it's fast only thing I seen keep up with it is sport bikes spank a stock V rod
my Mean Streak 1500. i have taken it to the limit and i am happy. had my one 3 years now never lets you down. i did have a GSX1400 but i was going to lose my licence so i went for the Mean Streak to keep my licence.
I have a 2006 1500cc mean streak I'm in Australia it says on my redgo papers it's a 06 model but all the mean streaks I have seen identical to mine are 03 models can anyone help me out please I'm the second owner
you guys got no idea its a cruiser yes and a far better purchase than a v-rod, a friend did do some engine work and the thing now is amazing lift the pegs up 2 inches and go to a single exhaust and raise it aka scramber style and the thing keeps up with my zxr750 all day long
ha added a hypercharger and jetting as well as changed from 2 into 2 pipes to a 2 inot 1 pipe that was tuned to the engine modifications. the engine had its compression raised from memory it is either 10.5 to 1 or 11 to 1. diferent cams. he had a heavier flywheel made for it. from memory the pistons were recessed because the heads were shaved around 40 thou. titanium oversize valves were fitted. heavier cluch also. thats all i can remember hope that helps
No carb no valve adjustment no chain.....easy to maintain and last a long time I have 73000 miles on my 06 and still running strong and looks good.
Time proved him wrong, meanstreaks are great.

It is fixable though right? What's the cost? 🤔

Longevity isn't a bad trade off for high performance.

Watching this and notice that its filmed in my home town. 😁
My mesn streak is a 1600 not a 1500 ? Never seen a 1500 mean streak
They were 1500 for the first few years of production then were increased to 1600

Are these tubeless tyre?
yes
Can't afford the big bucks.?!!...more like smart enuff not to blow cash on an ego and wind up with a better value and performance....
Also the vrod bombed,no longer made, harley gave up with it after just 4 years,a cruiser with a motor that revs to 9000rpm and makes 125bhp pointless

Can you tell me what your friend did to increase his power..I want mine to have 100 horse power..let me know
