Evidence Whisper should have had at the time and I suspect she actually was able to provide to them in private, though her evidence didn't prove Duo was Mimic but it would prove he was a traitor who tripped Silver, even following the weird ego death whisper underwent for no reason.
A mental breakdown which makes you question your take on reality and in which you accept anything presented to you as the actual truth rejecting anything you thought or believed before, regardless of how shallow the suggestion for your new reality, or any on hand evidence you might have that your previous views were correct. Often it's characterized with the character crying having some sort of "I was wrong" or "it was you" and then blindly following the villain despite knowing the villain will kill them afterwards, or them adopting some off the wall utterly stupid belief (one that's obviously self destructive most the time) and usually well there's an actual lead up to such moments where the character is primed, having their world views damaged or shattered, or the betrayal/lie of a friend revealed to them, and their mental state put into question. And overall it's associated with brainwashing scenes and/or the whole "come back to your senses" friendship slap thing that just "knocks them out of it". But seriously Lanolin asking for an explanation isn't nearly traumatic enough... Unless we're going to get shown that Whisper has PTSD about answering questions.
For context least of the original kamen rider, the titular hero is a motorcycle rider who was captured and turned into a cyborg by the enemy organization Shocker and imbued with abilities of a grass hopper if I recall. He ended up escaping and took down any Shocker animal hybrid cyborgs that came to deal with him. Yeah there’s some similarities just take out the forceful cyborg modification, the suit is definitely more sentai as that had the characters become heroes willingly funnily enough the idea of Sentai was making a team of kamen riders both by the same author Shotaro Ishinomori, thinking about it there’s potential parallels with Surge and Kit with another Ishinomori property Cyborg 009 where the 9 cyborgs and their foes were all forcefully turned into cyborgs especially with the enemy cyborgs becoming specially made to counter the 00 cyborgs

With Surge and Kit enjoying their taste of the Light Side. I look forward to see if they do start leaning more in the direction of a redemption arc once the time for the Fall of the Restoration comes.
I am loving the Clean Sweep arc. I have a feeling that Clutch will out Surge and Kit when he is caught and it will cause the people to see them as villains again. I am glad Jewels is getting a little suspicious about what is going on around her, i hope that she is the one to catch Mimic. I can't wait for the next issue to come out so we can see more, awesome review!!
I have been thinking about Clutch using Surge & Kit as potential scapegoats, So I have also been thinking, that in response to that, Surge will sneak up to Duo before anyone notices in time and then literally shocks him back into Mimic in front of everyone, giving him a taste of betrayal, potentially.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I can picture a comic strip where after Clutch plays back a recording on the stadium monitor of Surge and Kit taking the device used to sabotage Sonics gear, then everyone in the crowd starts yelling and booing them, calling them phonies and fakes which effectively set's Surge in a panic attack followed by her just snapping and exploding into a blind rage.
Another lap, another great issue. Sonic's persona was able to provide some action in the track. Surge's final attack was a good way for her, and by proxy Kitsunami, to experience the feeling of being a hero - something that I hope can still become a factor of a redemption arc for them, in case of being betrayed by Clutch. And poor Jet, even though the Babylon Rogues made the top 3, none received the spotlight, and seeing Surge happy ignited a new flame on the legendary Wind Master. Clutch once again shows us how long he has been in the villain business. He could've thought of hiring a troublemaker to do what the Phantom Rider did in the race, but he's using this sudden appearance to boost the credibility of Clean Sweep Inc. image and now he's planning on unmasking Sonic - once the public knows the culprit is the hedgehog, his image, and by proxy the Restoration's, will go down the drain. The final pages provided a great mystery around the sabotage incident and seeing our sweet Belle locked up and "disarmed" is just too much - she has suffered enough during last year and now someone did this to her. Whoever's responsible will be struck down by Belle's Support Fan Club. And we were able to see more classic EX-Gears. This time, I was able to identify these models, from the other contestants, and wow these are some good nostalgic gears: - Riders High Booster - Riders Auto Slider - Riders Cannonball - Riders Gambler - Riders Hovercraft - Riders Power Gear (used by the Clean Sweep Security) - Riders Berserker - Riders Faster - Zero Gravity Bingo Star - Zero Gravity Cover-P - Zero Gravity Advantage-F - Zero Gravity GP Tank - Zero Gravity Shooting Star - Zero Gravity Hyperdrive - Zero Gravity Road Star (in Bike Mode) - Free Riders Potential This issue gave me a new idea of a race mode in a supposedly new Riders game - Survival Battle. True, we had this mode in the past, but now we could had something akin to the F-Zero 99 game: an online/offline gauntlet race, featuring 10-25 racers, that could race around a non-arena track, and either you win by doing the highest number of laps before losing Air, or by eliminating the highest number of racers, or doing 3-5 laps and in each lap the limit position degrees; so many choices... I can't wait for the next race. And if they provide a new event, hope I can imagine news ideas for the 'what if' new Riders game.
10:00 Honestly, since I was the one who asked Ian about Surge and Kit remanding villains, I'm hoping they turn over a new leaf and become full heroes. They're pretty much scared children on the villain poll, and the only thing Surge has going for her to remain a villain is that she's the only female villain the the IDW Sonic comics right now
No the reason why she’s a villain is the fact that Starline enbetted to their souls that they hated Sonic and Tails. And unfortunately this also might be from the conditioning because remember that they were supposed to be replacing Sonic and Tails.
At the beginning of the issue, Surge and Kit are probably experiencing PTSD while looking at the obstacle course built by Clean Sweep Inc. Nice of you to point out the monkey on the cloud gear. ;) That's as close to Monkey Khan we're going to get. 😆 We got to see a genuine smile on Surge's face AND Jet is frustrated. What more could we ask for? 😃 Hopefully this is the turning point for Lanolin. She hasn't been listening or investigating into any problems her friends have. Instead, she's been very dismissive. Going forward, I hope she becomes more observant and loosens up. Smile!
I really love this issue specifically the art style, the expression on everyone’s faces and most importantly the dialogue. They really nailed this one. Let me say the best thing about this. Was Sonic. Our blue boy was lowkey feeling himself in this. He was having a blast showing everybody up. The best part nobody could hold him. To best describe it, Sonic literally came in this joint and let his big blue spheres hang. No pause. Resume. He came in and slam his shment on the table. He was out breaking everyone ankles and clapping cheeks. No one was safe. You can tell Sonic was holding back too. Let’s talk about how he was doing Jet dirty. Jet couldn’t lay a hand on this hog. He was barely keeping up with him while Sonic was hogging 1st place. Not only that he was straight whipping that hoe on those turns…while emoting on this bird. Nah, Jet you can’t let him get away with that. You got to locked in. Me personally, I letting no one emote on me mid-race. I wouldn’t take that level of disrespect. I would’ve pulled out the blinky and started booming this man. Next was the Diamond Cutters. Or should I called them the Fraud Cutters? The Diamond Frauders. Cause they might have well be called after how Sonic crossed them up. Lanolin how you let this happen to you? Now just to state, I do like Lanolin. I have zero hate for her. The Sheep brings in an interesting character dynamic. But oh my. First I’ll give my props. She got a hit on Sonic. Which means you did way more than Jet. Trash ahh. Green apple bird looking ahh. But that doesn’t mean I won’t get on y’all as well. Cause you guys pulled up, multiple goofies deep and still let him slip by you easily. Y’all still got your ankles snapped. He left Lanolin looking flabbergasted. Jaw dropped, mouth hanging wide open. Sonic was like “you better put that mouth close before I slipped something in it. Don’t play with me, I am a warrior.” Nah you got to rethink your strategies on this one. The one shot out I will give. Goes to Tangle for catching all those other contestants. She had 5 people riding on her long tail for dear life at the same time. And I won’t get into the ultimate smoke demon that was Surge. Girl pulled up looking for the fade like she was Kid Buu. Too bad it was had to be cut short but hey…she still did more than Jet. Jet just go put up your gear at this rate. Hang up the goggles and retire my man. You are NOT built for this.
Might be a good idea for Sonic to pass along the Phantom Rider persona to someone else before things get too heated with the Race. With the way everybody was cheering for Surge and Kit, finding that it was Sonic might set them off. Although if it’s nearly anyone else, the good will Surge and Kit have built up would be preserved. Maybe they could trick Mimic or Clutch into the role and reveal their other deceptions.
For me when it comes to Surge and Kit I'm kind of in the middle where I don't mind them being villains or heroes. But at the same time ... there is such things as anti-heroes. I mean they easily be antiheroes, save the world be if destruction happens oh well. Not to mention we have other anti heroes within the series team dark the three of them are all anti heroes and they work so why not Surge and Kit?
The thing with Surge and Kit is that they're far better as Antagonists and legit rivals than Team Dark. Still a good fit for Anti-heroes or Anti-villians as the plot demands, I mean issue 70 is a perfect example as Surge was going after the guy who attacked the race, not really a villainous thing to do. As opposed to Shadow's "I don't work with people and I don't do teams, now meet my team as I work with all of you to save the day like always."
I have been waiting for your Review of this Issue, because this was a very interesting Issue, especially with how Surge Reacted to the idea of being Viewed as a Hero, I wonder what that will indicate later down the line? Also, I am still wondering if this Arc really could potentially be THE Arc that all of the preparations in the last Arc were leading towards or not? Because it really does seem like if Team Sonic succeeds, it could lead to a Major Derailment of Clutch’s Plan.

Clutch's plan is gonna fall apart when Surge and Kit finally betrayed him not because of their newfound recognition as heroes but when it's revealed he knew nothing about their past or their original identity and Mimic is about to be turn into fried calamari the second he ran out of excuses and tricks up his sleeves 3:28 i like to think Sonic also probably gain a bit of ptsd from Surge almost electrocuting him to death and looks like Jewel is finally catching up to their schemes with the increase of paperwork and Duo making excuses of finding team Sonic and i gotta love Sonic's phantom rider persona, he puts on this enigmatic and cocky attitude to cause a bit of distraction and mayhem but still he has good heart to save on rider from falling and finally the elephant in the room Lanolin, man seeing her finally getting a taste of her own terrible decisions and flawed leadership must have bruised her stubborn stick up a rear pride and i started giggling when she saw the consequences of actions that i say to her behind the screen: so this is your definition of "being prepared" and your talks about reckless is rushing head first to attack the enemy, disregarding people's safety and possibly causing property damage ha! says who the one being reckless now and now can't wait for her to realize she messed up big time when the Mimic reveal happens
I have had a moment in my mind for awhile now, Of Surge literally shocking Duo back into Mimic right in front of everyone else, while holding his head, giving him a taste of betrayal for a change, I have also been imagining this moment with Mimic constantly changing back and forth from either people he’ve known, people he’ve changed into (major ones anyway) or people he’ve tricked and betrayed, etc., all while he’s being shocked. Honestly, considering that we’ve usually seen him either trick or betray someone, like he betrayed the Diamond Cutters, he betrayed that little Villain Squad he was a part of for a little while and I wouldn’t be surprised if he might’ve done the same with many other people offscreen, heck for all we know, he probably tricked and betrayed people long before he even joined the Original Diamond Cutters, So I really think it would be rather cathartic for having him getting a taste of betrayal of his own being the thing to takes him out or at least exposes him and having Surge make it hurt just as much as the humiliation of it all, i think would be pretty satisfying too. But this is all my opinion of course, what do any of you think? Would you like something like this to happen?
Hopefully after riders arc Surge eventually wear her riders as a secondary outfit like an attention (Homelander) for the mobians causing her to be an anti-hero or something Of she still wears her main outfit but…

This issue was very great and Sonic is the Phantom Rider. And can I say that costume is literally cool. It reminds me of a Power Ranger and I hope they can use this costume in the games in the future. And I literally smiled from ear to ear when I saw Surge smile feeling and being like a hero, since I want her to feel good about herself. Maybe something like this could help her change her mind to come to the light and be a hero. That made my day! For Lanolin the shock on her face says it enough. She was so absorbed about catching this Phantom rider and upholding the rules to the point that she's forgetting about every other racers safety. And thank goodness for Tangle and her tail and Whisper's sharp shooting. And Jewel knows that something is up with Duo. I just hope in this arc Lanolin learns a lesson about friendship And to apologize to Sonic, Whisper, Silver, Tangle Amy, and Tails and practically everyone she might have gotten angry or offended. And maybe I want Lanolin to step down from her leadership role and get it to Tangle or Whisper since those two both have more experience than her and one of them was one of the original members of the Diamond Cutters. And also Duo getting a out in the public and for Tangle and Whisper to capture him. And also what happened to Belle?! Who would want to capture and dismantle her. I hope she can tell a lot of answers in the next issue. Because so far this comic run is going pretty good and cool. I can't wait to see the Phantom Rider to be the winner and expose the bad guys in the process.
Sure hope that Jewels face there is righteous suspicion and not frustration to team sonic. It would be such sweet karma that Mimic and Clean Sweep thinks she is a pushover only to discover she is smarter then she looks. Also hoping Laolin is heading toward deeper character developments. She don’t like chaos but chaos brings out different parts of people. And only Sonic is fast, she is not. Trusting others and seeing deeper depths may calm the stricter rules that bind her
Jewel IS suspicious of Duo, probably BEEN suspicious of him since issue 64, off-panel, because she believes in her friends and is keeping an open mind and after hearing about Silver and Whisper's accusations, she finds it hard to believe that they are wrong, and so has planned a long con of her own to test Duo, which involves letting him work in her office. better still, she would've consulted Whisper after Silver's expulsion but before visiting Duo in the hospital, and, with Tangle present, they remember Whisper's mask can record things and she was wearing it when she saw Duo kick Silver, confirming that Whisper wasn't imagining things, and therefore assures Whisper and Tangle that she'll keep an eye on Duo for them. she's probably going to be one of those friends that'll help Amy, Tails and Belle topple Clutch and Cleansweep As for Lanolin, I'm glad she's starting to realise the flaws in her own character and has begun her own character development, though I don't expect her to unstick from her beliefs completely in the next issue. she KNOWS she screwed up in her haste to get the phantom rider, cracking the glass of the track and the weight of the security forces did the rest. sooner or later, she's gonna realise that she needs to be more flexible and more tolerant of failure, especially her own, and also that while caution is a virtue, (surprisingly she showed none of that in this issue) it is also sometimes necessary to follow your gut, just act and try the unorthodox methods, with Mimic's exposure being the catalyst, making her see that her friends were right and she was wrong to berate them. Lately, Lanolin has not only been narrow-minded, believing in her own convictions and not listening to her teammates, as seen in issue 64, and black on white about appearances of situations, but she's also come off as harsh, cold and unsympathetic, both to Silver and Whisper in issue 64 and team sonic in issue 69. clearly she's become obsessed with maintaining order and security, and as a consequence has begun losing her heart. not only must she realise that she's come off as a jerk to teammates, but she's also been blind and ignorant. she'll probably still be antagonistic towards the phantom rider, but after finding out it's sonic, and after Tangle calls Lanolin out for coming off as a jerk and not listening to her teammates and then encouraging her to take a chance and follow her gut, not to mention finding out about cleensweep and mimic, Lanolin, and the Diamond Cutters will aid in exposing cleensweep, maybe even delivering the final blow to Mimic (ironic redemption) I'm also surprised that we still haven't had any lines from Whisper in this arc... yet. her confidence in herself is probably still cracked after being "proven wrong" in issue 64, but at least she hasn't lost it completely, as seen with when she suspected Surge and Kit, correctly, even if they were partly to serve as a distraction for Mimic. Hopefully she was never fully convinced and what was mentioned about her and jewel above comes to play, and while getting back on Mimic's trail and being the main helper in exposing him, also have a rematch with Surge, in which she actually wins this time and becomes not too reliant on her wisps, to make for what happened between them last time in issue 53-53
@@user-tq4hw2hb2j all that about Jewel would make this infiltration Mimic arc feel more rewarding, that his smugness and arrogance in the end was for naught. The comic do portray most for he restinve of being to goodwill and easy to fool, and while that is not wrong, it still begs the question ifs bearable Jewel having done all that can be intresting. And besides, as much as she is an organizer, she knows her Friends and no matter what, I think she will aid them Loalin has become annoying and a stick-in-the mud since she became the new leader of diamond cutter. It’s a great character design, and it’s not like we can want or expect anyone to be so friendly like Team Sonic. However I guess there must be a limit to a personality that is just not accepting the chaotic good that is Team Sonic. it was mentioned the moment she worked with Sonic that she (in her own mind) felt she overestimated Sonic heroic actions and felt he was more chaotic to her liking. She may be jerkish but she has good Intention, only the biggest fault in that is her inflexibility and her lack of open mindness. Compared to Whipser and Tangle then yes, she is leader material, but as you said she needs to become a more open and trusting leader to her teammates and friends. Maybe all this is a journey for her to see, Chaos may not be always be bareable, but it is needed. And just sticking to Order means one falls victim to their own hubris Whisper, that’s true, she has not talked much lately. Well she was always the quiet one. And Tangle is barely keeping a cheerful one. New Diamond Cutter has a dynamic that is just not there yet Tangle is suppose to be the Heart of the Team, being friendly and bring people together. Whisper is suppose to be the Soul of the team, carrying the mission and duty of the old. Laolin what can she be beside the Leader, the Mind? The one that combines these factions and leads them forward. But as said before, u til she sees there is a need for a little chaos in the order, then this team will fall
@@AngryAnimeFan2 Honestly, Sonic and Tangle are the only Chaotic Good characters in this comic. Most of the other heroes are either Lawful Good or Neutral Good, though Amy and Charmy could easily be considered Neutral Good with Chaotic Good tendencies.
@@AngryAnimeFan2 And What about Surge? she's clearly the tragic kind of villain who had become nihilistic over seeing how having her memories altered by Starline (though still not cool for what she did to Whisper and how she made her look like a punching bag and therefore the wolf needs a rematch with Surge in which she wins), and at the moment is acting as an additional spy and distraction for Mimic. due to her 'heroic' actions in issue 70, not only is she fulfilling that objective, but also that which Starline gave her, to replace Sonic. she is however genuinely enjoys the people treating her like a hero and i'm glad for her on that, but she's sure to try underhanded methods to make herself beloved. should she be revealed to have been in cahoots with Clutch and helped sabotaged team sonic's boards, probably by Clutch out of spite at worst or Sonic at best, the people are gonna turn on her and boo her, emotionally hurting her and she'll probably go into a rage, frenzy and rampage

Idk why, but I want this arc to end with a “heel turn” for Sonic & a redemption for Surge & Kit, have the public find out about Sonic using Eggman tech, & they turn their backs on him & it allows Clutch to slip into the restoration, & Surge & Kit both in hating Clutch & kinda on their “we’re hero’s” high, they team up with Sonic & Co. to stop Clutch & Clean Sweep Inc., plus it could have Lanolin finally realizing that Silver & Whisper were right about Duo being Mimic & apologizing to both of them

Additional note: This issue also announced the first IDW sonic crossover. They didn't specify who with, but they did mention that they are, and i quote "a *BIG* threat for the blue blur and his friends." I'm going to assume it's gonna be with the Godzilla franchise since IDW has the rights to make Godzilla comics.
really cool interesting things stuff so far Sonic being the Phantom Rider Jet getting tick with Surge Surge getting happy about being called a hero Jewel getting suspicious of Dou Lanolin actually messing up with her leadership skills and maybe and hopefully learn from them too, these Sonic Riders chapters are getting good so far
a pretty good issue i just hope the payoff is worth it and things dont become silly in terms of drama in the next two issues, as "sides will be taken" was one of the solicitations (for 72 i think) I would hate to see the restoration actually split into two factions for the next arc...thats archie tier writing coming back if so.

Another thing about the Phantom Rider design that I noticed is that the boots are almost styled like that of Megaman characters. Thought it was neat.

Often it's characterized with the character crying having some sort of "I was wrong" or "it was you" and then blindly following the villain despite knowing the villain will kill them afterwards, or them adopting some off the wall utterly stupid belief (one that's obviously self destructive most the time) and usually well there's an actual lead up to such moments where the character is primed, having their world views damaged or shattered, or the betrayal/lie of a friend revealed to them, and their mental state put into question. And overall it's associated with brainwashing scenes and/or the whole "come back to your senses" friendship slap thing that just "knocks them out of it". But seriously Lanolin asking for an explanation isn't nearly traumatic enough... Unless we're going to get shown that Whisper has PTSD about answering questions.
The events of the last issue would ultimately lead up to Sonic being THE PHANTOM RIDER, what a twist.
For context least of the original kamen rider, the titular hero is a motorcycle rider who was captured and turned into a cyborg by the enemy organization Shocker and imbued with abilities of a grass hopper if I recall. He ended up escaping and took down any Shocker animal hybrid cyborgs that came to deal with him. Yeah there’s some similarities just take out the forceful cyborg modification, the suit is definitely more sentai as that had the characters become heroes willingly funnily enough the idea of Sentai was making a team of kamen riders both by the same author Shotaro Ishinomori, thinking about it there’s potential parallels with Surge and Kit with another Ishinomori property Cyborg 009 where the 9 cyborgs and their foes were all forcefully turned into cyborgs especially with the enemy cyborgs becoming specially made to counter the 00 cyborgs
Call back to "Prison Island" from _SA 2._ Glad to know events from SA1, SA2, Heroes, Unleashed, and Frontier are still canon, as well as Forces.

I am loving the Clean Sweep arc. I have a feeling that Clutch will out Surge and Kit when he is caught and it will cause the people to see them as villains again. I am glad Jewels is getting a little suspicious about what is going on around her, i hope that she is the one to catch Mimic. I can't wait for the next issue to come out so we can see more, awesome review!!
I have been thinking about Clutch using Surge & Kit as potential scapegoats,
So I have also been thinking, that in response to that, Surge will sneak up to Duo before anyone notices in time and then literally shocks him back into Mimic in front of everyone, giving him a taste of betrayal, potentially.
I was worried that will have Jewel not notice anything, but glad she getting suspicious
That's exactly what I was thinking. I can picture a comic strip where after Clutch plays back a recording on the stadium monitor of Surge and Kit taking the device used to sabotage Sonics gear, then everyone in the crowd starts yelling and booing them, calling them phonies and fakes which effectively set's Surge in a panic attack followed by her just snapping and exploding into a blind rage.
Another lap, another great issue. Sonic's persona was able to provide some action in the track. Surge's final attack was a good way for her, and by proxy Kitsunami, to experience the feeling of being a hero - something that I hope can still become a factor of a redemption arc for them, in case of being betrayed by Clutch. And poor Jet, even though the Babylon Rogues made the top 3, none received the spotlight, and seeing Surge happy ignited a new flame on the legendary Wind Master.
Clutch once again shows us how long he has been in the villain business. He could've thought of hiring a troublemaker to do what the Phantom Rider did in the race, but he's using this sudden appearance to boost the credibility of Clean Sweep Inc. image and now he's planning on unmasking Sonic - once the public knows the culprit is the hedgehog, his image, and by proxy the Restoration's, will go down the drain.
The final pages provided a great mystery around the sabotage incident and seeing our sweet Belle locked up and "disarmed" is just too much - she has suffered enough during last year and now someone did this to her. Whoever's responsible will be struck down by Belle's Support Fan Club.
And we were able to see more classic EX-Gears. This time, I was able to identify these models, from the other contestants, and wow these are some good nostalgic gears:

This issue gave me a new idea of a race mode in a supposedly new Riders game - Survival Battle. True, we had this mode in the past, but now we could had something akin to the F-Zero 99 game: an online/offline gauntlet race, featuring 10-25 racers, that could race around a non-arena track, and either you win by doing the highest number of laps before losing Air, or by eliminating the highest number of racers, or doing 3-5 laps and in each lap the limit position degrees; so many choices...
I can't wait for the next race. And if they provide a new event, hope I can imagine news ideas for the 'what if' new Riders game.
Oh, trust me! Beck the Tinkerbot, arguably Belle's biggest fan, is already on it!

They're pretty much scared children on the villain poll, and the only thing Surge has going for her to remain a villain is that she's the only female villain the the IDW Sonic comics right now

No the reason why she’s a villain is the fact that Starline enbetted to their souls that they hated Sonic and Tails. And unfortunately this also might be from the conditioning because remember that they were supposed to be replacing Sonic and Tails.
At the beginning of the issue, Surge and Kit are probably experiencing PTSD while looking at the obstacle course built by Clean Sweep Inc.

I really love this issue specifically the art style, the expression on everyone’s faces and most importantly the dialogue. They really nailed this one. Let me say the best thing about this. Was Sonic. Our blue boy was lowkey feeling himself in this. He was having a blast showing everybody up. The best part nobody could hold him.
To best describe it, Sonic literally came in this joint and let his big blue spheres hang. No pause. Resume. He came in and slam his shment on the table. He was out breaking everyone ankles and clapping cheeks. No one was safe. You can tell Sonic was holding back too. Let’s talk about how he was doing Jet dirty. Jet couldn’t lay a hand on this hog. He was barely keeping up with him while Sonic was hogging 1st place. Not only that he was straight whipping that hoe on those turns…while emoting on this bird. Nah, Jet you can’t let him get away with that. You got to locked in. Me personally, I letting no one emote on me mid-race. I wouldn’t take that level of disrespect. I would’ve pulled out the blinky and started booming this man.
Next was the Diamond Cutters. Or should I called them the Fraud Cutters? The Diamond Frauders. Cause they might have well be called after how Sonic crossed them up. Lanolin how you let this happen to you? Now just to state, I do like Lanolin. I have zero hate for her. The Sheep brings in an interesting character dynamic. But oh my. First I’ll give my props. She got a hit on Sonic. Which means you did way more than Jet. Trash ahh. Green apple bird looking ahh. But that doesn’t mean I won’t get on y’all as well. Cause you guys pulled up, multiple goofies deep and still let him slip by you easily. Y’all still got your ankles snapped. He left Lanolin looking flabbergasted. Jaw dropped, mouth hanging wide open. Sonic was like “you better put that mouth close before I slipped something in it. Don’t play with me, I am a warrior.” Nah you got to rethink your strategies on this one. The one shot out I will give. Goes to Tangle for catching all those other contestants. She had 5 people riding on her long tail for dear life at the same time.
And I won’t get into the ultimate smoke demon that was Surge. Girl pulled up looking for the fade like she was Kid Buu. Too bad it was had to be cut short but hey…she still did more than Jet. Jet just go put up your gear at this rate. Hang up the goggles and retire my man. You are NOT built for this.

Might be a good idea for Sonic to pass along the Phantom Rider persona to someone else before things get too heated with the Race. With the way everybody was cheering for Surge and Kit, finding that it was Sonic might set them off. Although if it’s nearly anyone else, the good will Surge and Kit have built up would be preserved. Maybe they could trick Mimic or Clutch into the role and reveal their other deceptions.

For me when it comes to Surge and Kit I'm kind of in the middle where I don't mind them being villains or heroes. But at the same time ... there is such things as anti-heroes. I mean they easily be antiheroes, save the world be if destruction happens oh well. Not to mention we have other anti heroes within the series team dark the three of them are all anti heroes and they work so why not Surge and Kit?
The thing with Surge and Kit is that they're far better as Antagonists and legit rivals than Team Dark. Still a good fit for Anti-heroes or Anti-villians as the plot demands, I mean issue 70 is a perfect example as Surge was going after the guy who attacked the race, not really a villainous thing to do.
As opposed to Shadow's "I don't work with people and I don't do teams, now meet my team as I work with all of you to save the day like always."

Also, I am still wondering if this Arc really could potentially be THE Arc that all of the preparations in the last Arc were leading towards or not? Because it really does seem like if Team Sonic succeeds, it could lead to a Major Derailment of Clutch’s Plan.

Clutch's plan is gonna fall apart when Surge and Kit finally betrayed him not because of their newfound recognition as heroes but when it's revealed he knew nothing about their past or their original identity and Mimic is about to be turn into fried calamari the second he ran out of excuses and tricks up his sleeves

I have had a moment in my mind for awhile now,
Of Surge literally shocking Duo back into Mimic right in front of everyone else, while holding his head, giving him a taste of betrayal for a change,
I have also been imagining this moment with Mimic constantly changing back and forth from either people he’ve known, people he’ve changed into (major ones anyway) or people he’ve tricked and betrayed, etc., all while he’s being shocked.
Honestly, considering that we’ve usually seen him either trick or betray someone, like he betrayed the Diamond Cutters, he betrayed that little Villain Squad he was a part of for a little while and I wouldn’t be surprised if he might’ve done the same with many other people offscreen, heck for all we know, he probably tricked and betrayed people long before he even joined the Original Diamond Cutters,
So I really think it would be rather cathartic for having him getting a taste of betrayal of his own being the thing to takes him out or at least exposes him and having Surge make it hurt just as much as the humiliation of it all, i think would be pretty satisfying too.
But this is all my opinion of course, what do any of you think? Would you like something like this to happen?

This issue was very great and Sonic is the Phantom Rider. And can I say that costume is literally cool. It reminds me of a Power Ranger and I hope they can use this costume in the games in the future. And I literally smiled from ear to ear when I saw Surge smile feeling and being like a hero, since I want her to feel good about herself. Maybe something like this could help her change her mind to come to the light and be a hero. That made my day! For Lanolin the shock on her face says it enough. She was so absorbed about catching this Phantom rider and upholding the rules to the point that she's forgetting about every other racers safety. And thank goodness for Tangle and her tail and Whisper's sharp shooting. And Jewel knows that something is up with Duo. I just hope in this arc Lanolin learns a lesson about friendship And to apologize to Sonic, Whisper, Silver, Tangle Amy, and Tails and practically everyone she might have gotten angry or offended. And maybe I want Lanolin to step down from her leadership role and get it to Tangle or Whisper since those two both have more experience than her and one of them was one of the original members of the Diamond Cutters. And also Duo getting a out in the public and for Tangle and Whisper to capture him. And also what happened to Belle?! Who would want to capture and dismantle her. I hope she can tell a lot of answers in the next issue. Because so far this comic run is going pretty good and cool. I can't wait to see the Phantom Rider to be the winner and expose the bad guys in the process.

Sure hope that Jewels face there is righteous suspicion and not frustration to team sonic. It would be such sweet karma that Mimic and Clean Sweep thinks she is a pushover only to discover she is smarter then she looks. Also hoping Laolin is heading toward deeper character developments. She don’t like chaos but chaos brings out different parts of people. And only Sonic is fast, she is not. Trusting others and seeing deeper depths may calm the stricter rules that bind her
Jewel IS suspicious of Duo, probably BEEN suspicious of him since issue 64, off-panel, because she believes in her friends and is keeping an open mind and after hearing about Silver and Whisper's accusations, she finds it hard to believe that they are wrong, and so has planned a long con of her own to test Duo, which involves letting him work in her office. better still, she would've consulted Whisper after Silver's expulsion but before visiting Duo in the hospital, and, with Tangle present, they remember Whisper's mask can record things and she was wearing it when she saw Duo kick Silver, confirming that Whisper wasn't imagining things, and therefore assures Whisper and Tangle that she'll keep an eye on Duo for them. she's probably going to be one of those friends that'll help Amy, Tails and Belle topple Clutch and Cleansweep
As for Lanolin, I'm glad she's starting to realise the flaws in her own character and has begun her own character development, though I don't expect her to unstick from her beliefs completely in the next issue. she KNOWS she screwed up in her haste to get the phantom rider, cracking the glass of the track and the weight of the security forces did the rest. sooner or later, she's gonna realise that she needs to be more flexible and more tolerant of failure, especially her own, and also that while caution is a virtue, (surprisingly she showed none of that in this issue) it is also sometimes necessary to follow your gut, just act and try the unorthodox methods, with Mimic's exposure being the catalyst, making her see that her friends were right and she was wrong to berate them. Lately, Lanolin has not only been narrow-minded, believing in her own convictions and not listening to her teammates, as seen in issue 64, and black on white about appearances of situations, but she's also come off as harsh, cold and unsympathetic, both to Silver and Whisper in issue 64 and team sonic in issue 69. clearly she's become obsessed with maintaining order and security, and as a consequence has begun losing her heart. not only must she realise that she's come off as a jerk to teammates, but she's also been blind and ignorant. she'll probably still be antagonistic towards the phantom rider, but after finding out it's sonic, and after Tangle calls Lanolin out for coming off as a jerk and not listening to her teammates and then encouraging her to take a chance and follow her gut, not to mention finding out about cleensweep and mimic, Lanolin, and the Diamond Cutters will aid in exposing cleensweep, maybe even delivering the final blow to Mimic (ironic redemption)
I'm also surprised that we still haven't had any lines from Whisper in this arc... yet. her confidence in herself is probably still cracked after being "proven wrong" in issue 64, but at least she hasn't lost it completely, as seen with when she suspected Surge and Kit, correctly, even if they were partly to serve as a distraction for Mimic. Hopefully she was never fully convinced and what was mentioned about her and jewel above comes to play, and while getting back on Mimic's trail and being the main helper in exposing him, also have a rematch with Surge, in which she actually wins this time and becomes not too reliant on her wisps, to make for what happened between them last time in issue 53-53

Loalin has become annoying and a stick-in-the mud since she became the new leader of diamond cutter. It’s a great character design, and it’s not like we can want or expect anyone to be so friendly like Team Sonic. However I guess there must be a limit to a personality that is just not accepting the chaotic good that is Team Sonic. it was mentioned the moment she worked with Sonic that she (in her own mind) felt she overestimated Sonic heroic actions and felt he was more chaotic to her liking. She may be jerkish but she has good Intention, only the biggest fault in that is her inflexibility and her lack of open mindness. Compared to Whipser and Tangle then yes, she is leader material, but as you said she needs to become a more open and trusting leader to her teammates and friends. Maybe all this is a journey for her to see, Chaos may not be always be bareable, but it is needed. And just sticking to Order means one falls victim to their own hubris
Whisper, that’s true, she has not talked much lately. Well she was always the quiet one. And Tangle is barely keeping a cheerful one. New Diamond Cutter has a dynamic that is just not there yet
Tangle is suppose to be the Heart of the Team, being friendly and bring people together. Whisper is suppose to be the Soul of the team, carrying the mission and duty of the old. Laolin what can she be beside the Leader, the Mind? The one that combines these factions and leads them forward. But as said before, u til she sees there is a need for a little chaos in the order, then this team will fall
@@AngryAnimeFan2 Honestly, Sonic and Tangle are the only Chaotic Good characters in this comic. Most of the other heroes are either Lawful Good or Neutral Good, though Amy and Charmy could easily be considered Neutral Good with Chaotic Good tendencies.
@@AngryAnimeFan2 And What about Surge? she's clearly the tragic kind of villain who had become nihilistic over seeing how having her memories altered by Starline (though still not cool for what she did to Whisper and how she made her look like a punching bag and therefore the wolf needs a rematch with Surge in which she wins), and at the moment is acting as an additional spy and distraction for Mimic. due to her 'heroic' actions in issue 70, not only is she fulfilling that objective, but also that which Starline gave her, to replace Sonic. she is however genuinely enjoys the people treating her like a hero and i'm glad for her on that, but she's sure to try underhanded methods to make herself beloved. should she be revealed to have been in cahoots with Clutch and helped sabotaged team sonic's boards, probably by Clutch out of spite at worst or Sonic at best, the people are gonna turn on her and boo her, emotionally hurting her and she'll probably go into a rage, frenzy and rampage

Idk why, but I want this arc to end with a “heel turn” for Sonic & a redemption for Surge & Kit, have the public find out about Sonic using Eggman tech, & they turn their backs on him & it allows Clutch to slip into the restoration, & Surge & Kit both in hating Clutch & kinda on their “we’re hero’s” high, they team up with Sonic & Co. to stop Clutch & Clean Sweep Inc., plus it could have Lanolin finally realizing that Silver & Whisper were right about Duo being Mimic & apologizing to both of them

Additional note: This issue also announced the first IDW sonic crossover. They didn't specify who with, but they did mention that they are, and i quote "a *BIG* threat for the blue blur and his friends."

a pretty good issue i just hope the payoff is worth it and things dont become silly in terms of drama in the next two issues, as "sides will be taken" was one of the solicitations (for 72 i think) I would hate to see the restoration actually split into two factions for the next arc...thats archie tier writing coming back if so.
