If you can create borderline magical technology of turning flesh to machine, like Chuck dit, an alien technology with ability to turn machine into flesh is easy to accept. Also its fun to think about that the main reason for Eggman's breakdown was his new flesh body. Imagine being forced to eat, rest and experience heavy emotions like stress and anxiety after all those years of being a cold evil machine. Dealing with that while constantly losing against a blue rat you've already destroyed in your own universe is just too much for a psycho like Archie's Eggman.
As much as the foreshadowing of a future writer using the metal virus does make sense, it’s still a deus ex moment when one considers “And then aliens abducted them!” to seemingly solely undo some transformations.
Actually The first is feasible Basically via nanotechnology, replacing cells one by one, especially the nerve cells. This would require no new physics to be discovered, just a solid research push. @gp-1542 Yes I think so too. Watching the antagonist's goal slowly slip into obsessive vengeance as his plans are thwarted, to the point of near insanity. King K. Rool is another character who seems to have followed this path. That's why he and Eggman are my favorite video game villains
Eggman's mental breakdown actually makes perfect sense. Before taking over Julians role, Ivo's life went well. He beat his freedom fighters and had absolute control of his Mobius. Because he didn't have all the failures at the hands of Sonic he wasn't prepared to handle losing to Prime Sonic constantly. As you said...he couldn't handle the Chaos. Yes, better than fleetway Robotnik, who followed the same path, but he wanted to destroy everything, even himself, to the point that if he has the opportunity he will look for a way to do it, without a plan, nothing, simply staying there watching the end. of the world, happy. I know he restores her in the end but it seems to be implied that he worked tirelessly to bring her back as he is not monologing to himself like he usually does even when no one is around. The simple "That's my girl" line always got me feeling a bit teary-eyed. He sounds tired yet proud. It is hard to side with Archie Eggman in any way because he mindlessly, at least that's what it seemed like to me, wants to control the world to the point where it seems like he has no idea anymore why he wants to do it and just does.
it seems implied here that archie eggman is mostly motivated by a desire to be better than his brother, to rise above what everyone thought of him, to become a warlord who reigns over everyone, and eventually he grew to desire seeing people suffer because of him
I think a crucial part to the story is the Eggman Empire arc, #173-177, In it Eggman destroys Knothole and breaks Sonic's sprit, this makes sense as he defeated the Sonic of his world, so he always believed he had the upper hand the whole time and only lost on purpose to toy with the heroes, although he does lie to Sonic when he claims that nobody cared about Eggman's conquest because he had already won, however Sonic (with the aid of his friends) defeats him, this leads to Eggman questioning whether he was right or not and also adds to his descent into madness.

I liked the Archie Sonic comic reboot just fine. So, what I gathered from this summary is Robo-Robotnik is from another dimension who was introduced to replace the original. Later he temporarily brings back the original. Then, aliens turn him back into a human to essentially reset the status quo. Then the comic starts referring to the doctor as Eggman to keep up with his name change in Sonic Adventure. Later, after being defeated by Sonic several times, his mind becomes scrambled. But then he returns to his senses and tries to reset the universe. When that fails, he tries to roboticize the world. But that’s thwarted by Sally who then becomes a robot. And before any of that is further explored, the universe is reset once again due to real world legal disputes. Fast forward to today where the Archie comics have long been cancelled and retconned, and all I just summarized was thrown out the window. If I didn’t just watch the video, I wouldn’t believe any of this either. That aside, I believe the reason the comics started to refer to the doctor as Eggman was due to him being called that in SA1. The reason they called him that in SA1 was due to SEGA wanting to try and clean up the continuity and combine the American and Japanese stuff. Hence the doctor’s full name now being Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik.
The comics still used the name Robotnik up until the reboot. Older folks tended to call him Robotnik while younger ones tended to call him Eggman. Sometimes Sonic would whip out a "Robotnik" or "Ro-butt-nik" for old times sake, but yeah, it just kinda depended on who was talking about him and why. It feels more real that way.
By Adventure 1 they were interchangeable because Sega of America would bring the Eggman name as just Sonic’s nickname for the the doctor. But his name was still Robotnik. But Avdenture 2 they went full “no his name is eggman just call him that”. But Sega themeseleves would adopt Ivo Robotnik was his actual name, and Eggman was just something he decided to call himself.
Going a little further, Rob-Robotnik actually won in his own universe. He defeated and Roboticized his universe's Freedom Fighters and sometime after moving to the prime universe, he blows up his original world, effectively killing that universe's version of Sonic, Tails, Sally, Rotor, etc. There was also a time where he could instantly Roboticize people with a single touch. Although only Mobians retained mobility. If a human was robiticized, they'd basically turn into metal statues.
So I found something, I’m not sure if someone else already said it, but they said is real name is still Dr. Ivo Robotnik, but he’s called Eggman as a nickname by Sonic because of his shape. So everyone just started calling him that. That’s the best of what I found. But IMO I always assumed Eggman was a nickname instead of made as his official name
Archie comics took their own liberties with the sonic lore, but also paid close attention to adapt all sonic video game properties they came. When Robotnik got remade to be eggman, I assume that Archie comics needed to write their original eggman kut.
Eggman came from the Sega Dreamcast Sonic Adventure games, Sonic kept taunting him with the nickname getting all sorts of annoyed about it at first, but overtime he took the name as his own]
10:05-10:24 Casual reminder that Mammoth Mogul found this out issues prior, and his immediate reaction at the end of his whole Neo Fearsome Foursome arc was to tell Sonic to his face that he's going to simply sit back and wait at the Bottom of the Barrel Bar & Grill for Sonic to kick the bucket, and then try his hand at the world, even if he has to go through his descendants down the line.
I'm pretty sure Eggman was the original name from the games for Robotnik, as a kind of funny little nickname for the egg shaped villian. And when Sega expanded on the lore they named him Robotnik since his whole thing was making all the animals of Mobius into robot badniks
Eggman (Although this was his original name in Japan) was an insult Sonic came up with for the doctor at a random point in time. Even then he would still call him robotnik or robuttnik (another insult from Sonic Satam originally). I did not like Eggman name at first when I was younger, but it grew on me through the years
Well the aliens remove the Robotized tech and put a lest say defense to future uses until Eggman use for the 1st time Genesis Wave to make the robotizer work again
If I had a nickle for every time a comic book Eggman was turned into a writhing madman after years of loosing to Sonic. I'd have two nickles. Which isn't alot, but it's weird this has happened in two separate realities.
that's how robotnik's eyes were from the start, its a good reminder that they're the same person on some level and yes it makes him look really scary, at least once he's sane again that panel of him sneering at snively is so iconic
He went from an Eggman to an Omeletman. And since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the Gamecube is my very first Sonic game, his name will always be Doctor Eggman to me before Doctor Robotnik.
Could you imagine if IDW or Archie does a sonic comic where dr robonik/EGGman just gives up. Like it has him reflect on his life choices and past and has him think and talk to himself wondering if his vendetta against sonic and mobius is really worth it and if he is doomed to repeat these battles and plans over and over again and has him break down and feel sorry and bad for every horrible thing he’s ever done and all the people he’s robotisized and killed and all the damage and destruction he’s caused and has him just give up and go into retirement and finally make peace with sonic and just wants nothing to do with mobius at all but as one finale act of kindness he helps rebuild mobius and aids humanity by solving all of earths problems and then he retires and like dies of age but not without knowing that he was able to do one good thing that didn’t involve killing sonic and he tries to picture his life of what it would’ve been if he hadn’t turned evil or do all the horrible things he’s done
the idea is that Eggman is a insult on eggman's appearance, since his body is vaguely egg-shaped, and sonic's jsut using that to belittle eggman, and eggman in turn took that name to proudly call himself (and further seperate himself from the original robotnik, and in turn making him closer to the games)
she was a robot Eggman made (predating Sage by several years, incidentally) who was effectively his bodyguard, she was incredibly strong. Her actual name is Mecha Eggman was tricked into thinking she had betrayed him (which was a lie) and he had her kill herself. Notably its the one time we see him actually sad about something.
To quote one of Eggman's last lines to Snively: "Nobody knows you're here except for me. And it's going to stay that way for the rest of your life." That to me sounds a lot like he's here until he dies inside of the capsule Eggman put him in. That's killing.

@@anthonysmith3415 At the end of the day we aren't going to agree on this, this is my interpretation that Eggman leaving Snively to rot in a cell is essentially the same as killing him. Seeing his cell in Worlds Collide doesn't change the fact that he's left there to rot. If someone is locked away somewhere and no one is told where that place is or is even aware that they are locked away, they may as well be dead. This always read to me like Yu-Gi-Oh's Shadow Realm where people who were meant to be dead would be sent to to be forgotten about because it was too much for kids media. If not for Ken's drama, the last we see Snively is when Eggman is leaving him, beaten and unable to speak to stay in a hidden cell. There's no mention that he's going to feed him or treat him well in any way and so it can very well be interpreted as him giving Snively a torturous end. This is a guy who is responsible for Robotnik's death and who is responsible for locking away Eggman and so, with that in mind it's hard not to read into that page. Heck, in Worlds Collide I'm pretty sure we only see the top of Snively's head and his foot, he can't even discern what his physical condition is. We can blame my reasoning on my lit background and the fact that I'm used to making claims based on things read between the lines lol.

Eggman was always his true Name His full name is usually Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik in all English material While he's always been EGGMAN. In the comics they give him a different identity as Julien Robotnik Or Julien "Ivo" Eggman Robotnik
The answer is simple. Eggman is just a taunt that Sonic came up with much like Ro-butt-nik. Sonic is just calling Robotnik names. Robotnik his real name never changed. You literally show the panels where Eggman explains this in the video.
they were a cult of echidnas that worshipped technology and made themselves cyborgs who battled Knuckles frequently as part of their goal to avenge themselves on Echidnaopolis. Their original name were the Dark legion. eventually they were turned fully flesh again thanks to magic, and some of them turned to eggman to make them cyborgs again (the cost beign he put bombs in them that would go off should ever go rogue), and thus they became the dark egg legion.
I feel like you didn't watch the video through. I have criticisms early on with Eggman, but from the moment his mind snaps I go on to talk about what I love with this character. I actually spend most of the video, and nearly all of my other videos talking, positively about the comic.
Believe in Japan he was all ways named " Dr. Eggman Robotnik. " they changed it to " Dr. Robotnik in America to seem more threatening to America audiences. Then changed that back to Dr. Eggman in adventure series to fit the Japanese series. I believe that's the full story .
And if we are going to be even more crazy . In the Fleetway comics his name was " Dr. Ovi Kintobor " and was turned into " Dr. Ivo Robotnik " after taking a blast of chaos energy while holding a rotten egg .

Whenever I see Eggman when he broke out of Snivley’s cell, I always think of the AOSTH robotnik because of how goofy his writing is
So I found something, I’m not sure if someone else already said it, but they said is real name is still Dr.
Eggman came from the Sega Dreamcast Sonic Adventure games, Sonic kept taunting him with the nickname getting all sorts of annoyed about it at first, but overtime he took the name as his own]
10:05-10:24 Casual reminder that Mammoth Mogul found this out issues prior, and his immediate reaction at the end of his whole Neo Fearsome Foursome arc was to tell Sonic to his face that he's going to simply sit back and wait at the Bottom of the Barrel Bar & Grill for Sonic to kick the bucket, and then try his hand at the world, even if he has to go through his descendants down the line.
and send the occassional assassination to fuck with him. For laughs c:
"Holes at the ends of his fingers." For the Roboticization tentacles I imagine.
If I had a nickle for every time a comic book Eggman was turned into a writhing madman after years of loosing to Sonic. I'd have two nickles.
Which isn't alot, but it's weird this has happened in two separate realities.
Eggman without his glasses actually looks intimidating.
that's how robotnik's eyes were from the start, its a good reminder that they're the same person on some level and yes it makes him look really scary, at least once he's sane again
that panel of him sneering at snively is so iconic
Epsilon Gamma Gamma. EGG. Oh my god.
He went from an Eggman to an Omeletman. And since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the Gamecube is my very first Sonic game, his name will always be Doctor Eggman to me before Doctor Robotnik.
Just me of seeing sonic humanity for the Dr. Felt like the Batman and the joker 🃏 vibe
I like the comparison tbh

Isn’t the spider mech the one in Flying Battery from sonic mania?
Different model
You do realize the OG Robtonik was killed off right? Like he died.
yes, I have a whole video about it
woooo!! another fantastic samtastic video! can't wait for the next one!
3:47 Simple, just RobotMan.
Bro
Eggman shot Sally.
💀
0:16 informational
the idea is that Eggman is a insult on eggman's appearance, since his body is vaguely egg-shaped, and sonic's jsut using that to belittle eggman, and eggman in turn took that name to proudly call himself (and further seperate himself from the original robotnik, and in turn making him closer to the games)
1:56 i don't mind their looks to be honest but it's your opinion so whatever i will respect it .
Song of storms , classic
Dude. Robo-Robotnik is Sigma.
the name eggman came all because robotnik is shaped like a egg
I thought he was Eggman from the get-go? At least in Japan? Then, from Sonic Adventure onwards, it was adopted all around the world?
@@cozykomala that is true but sega decided to make his real name Dr. Ivo Robotnik
@@sonicspeedstersyt2765ok. I remember the American and Japanese branches weren't the best at communicating back then.
3:34 - Who is "M', and what is her story? Which side is she on?
she was a robot Eggman made (predating Sage by several years, incidentally) who was effectively his bodyguard, she was incredibly strong. Her actual name is Mecha
Eggman was tricked into thinking she had betrayed him (which was a lie) and he had her kill herself. Notably its the one time we see him actually sad about something.
last time I checked Eggman only capsuled Snively not killed him, dont know how you JUMPED to that conclusion
To quote one of Eggman's last lines to Snively: "Nobody knows you're here except for me. And it's going to stay that way for the rest of your life."
That to me sounds a lot like he's here until he dies inside of the capsule Eggman put him in. That's killing.
@@FantasticSamtastic he was clearly still alive in world's collide and that was for several months, clearly he's being fed and being told how he lost by eggman every so often
@@anthonysmith3415 Right, but if you're going to keep someone locked away for their entire life you've effectively sentenced them to a very slow death. It's not living if you're trapped in a small room for your entire life
@@FantasticSamtastic you're reaching just to prove that eggman killed snively but he is by definition still alive, just mentally broken and slowly dying one day at a time like we're all doing, he was not killed, please don't say things that didn't happen in the comics it's spreading misinformation and that's not really a good thing, not trying to be rude but this information is incorrect and I'm just being pragmatic about this
@@anthonysmith3415 At the end of the day we aren't going to agree on this, this is my interpretation that Eggman leaving Snively to rot in a cell is essentially the same as killing him.
I think the reason eggman was so broken was because of the shift from being a robot to becoming human again
I haven’t realized how dumb “eggman” sounded until now. Like, out of sonic context, you here someone yell “EGG MAN”
Yeah, it’s pretty funny
Eggman is his Japanese name but adventure tryed to combine the name by adventure 2 they jest roll with in furnters he out admitteds he took the name eggman to get ride of a inusalt from sobic but yah Archie eggman is my favorite eggman because god damn he feels like the joker some time not helping after he becomes well he loves playing Russia rullet
- Dr. Ivo Robotnik/Dr. Eggman (Sonic The Hedgehog)
May you please give me a list of books on this arc? I would love to collect and read this myself! It’s such an interesting demonstration of repetition induced madness!

@@FantasticSamtastic Thank you very much! I really appreciate you doing that!
Eggman was always his true Name
His full name is usually
Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik in all English material
While he's always been EGGMAN.
In the comics they give him a different identity as
Julien Robotnik
Or Julien "Ivo" Eggman Robotnik
12:06 music?
The answer is simple. Eggman is just a taunt that Sonic came up with much like Ro-butt-nik. Sonic is just calling Robotnik names. Robotnik his real name never changed. You literally show the panels where Eggman explains this in the video.
Even in the games Sega state his name is Ivo Robotnik but Sonic kept calling him Eggman, and he decided to accept it.
Maluco so foi banido
Sally created the mecha Sally arc?
I guess she did.
She wanted no more pain for the others so yeah.
Well Robotnik is original name while Eggman is nickname Sonic gave him (yeye I'm toooo late)
Plz cover Knothole's destruction
I plan to!
Your awesome
look man, robot neck and egg men Amen nickname given by sonic alright, and my boss is a man's name, ok, I'm starting to get confused
Eggman robtnick is his name
Eggman classic, adventure eggman and Robotnik are all different dimension versions of him not a real evolution of him
*7!*
2:04 It looks AI generated
Lol, it just needs some extra fingers
@@FantasticSamtastic IKR?! Also: Why do Robotnik‘s eyes change? Do the comics provide an explanation for that?
Who the hell are “the dark egg legion”?? Unrelated to Eggman??
they were a cult of echidnas that worshipped technology and made themselves cyborgs who battled Knuckles frequently as part of their goal to avenge themselves on Echidnaopolis. Their original name were the Dark legion.
eventually they were turned fully flesh again thanks to magic, and some of them turned to eggman to make them cyborgs again (the cost beign he put bombs in them that would go off should ever go rogue), and thus they became the dark egg legion.
@ oooohhhh I knew about the dark legion but was not aware of the bombs when re mechanized
Gonna be honest it feels like you’re intentionally trying to hate the comic.
I feel like you didn't watch the video through. I have criticisms early on with Eggman, but from the moment his mind snaps I go on to talk about what I love with this character. I actually spend most of the video, and nearly all of my other videos talking, positively about the comic.
snooping as usual I see referance
Believe in Japan he was all ways named " Dr. Eggman Robotnik. " they changed it to " Dr. Robotnik in America to seem more threatening to America audiences. Then changed that back to Dr. Eggman in adventure series to fit the Japanese series. I believe that's the full story .
And if we are going to be even more crazy . In the Fleetway comics his name was " Dr. Ovi Kintobor " and was turned into " Dr. Ivo Robotnik " after taking a blast of chaos energy while holding a rotten egg .
