    From 1974 to 1984 this Mercedes-Benz/Ludewig O 317 was owned by Krefelder Verkehrs-AG (KREVAG) (No. 5555 / license plate 'KR-ZD 55').
From 1984 to 1986 the bus was used by TUV Rheinland as a driving school bus (license plate 'KR-TA 6').
In 1986 the bus was sold to a private owner.
In 1996 the bus was acquired by Verkehrshistorische Arbeitsgemeinschaft (VHAG) EVAG e.V., Essen and refurbished in cooperation with the Essener Verkehrs-AG (EVAG).
Since 2003, the bus with the No. 3902 (license plate 'E-O 317 H') has been part of the historic fleet and can be rented for special trips.
From the late 1950s to the 1980s, so-called one and a half deckers were on the road in many cities. Most of them ran in North Rhine-Westphalia, but they could also be found in other federal states.
The one-and-a-half-decker was not quite as high as normal double-decker buses, so it also fit under most bridges.
One and a half deckers were used in the following cities: Aachen, Bonn, Bielefeld, Braunschweig, Duisburg, Dusseldorf, Essen, Flensburg, Hagen, Hanau, Hanover, Heidelberg, Cologne, Kiel, Krefeld, Mainz, Osnabruck, Rheydt, Saarlouis, Soest, Stuttgart, Trier and Wuppertal.
The sound recording was made at the end of June 2012, on the occasion of an open day at the depot Weidenstr. of the Stadtwerke Solingen ("60 years of trolleybus").
The bus was used in the shuttle service between Solingen, Graf-Wilhelm-Pl. and the depot.
