  • This is a quick unboxing of pet Plate cooked dog food. This is a human-grade dog food that is cooked and then shipped fresh directly to you. It is flash frozen to ensure it reaches you safely and then can be placed into your refrigerator or freezer.
It is one of the leading options out there for those looking for a high quality, human-grade, lightly cooked dog food that can offer significant improvements in the quality of diet and overall health for your dog compared to traditional kibble. Additionally, every batch is tested for pathogens to ensure safety. There are also no artificial preservatives, color or flavors.
Like many other cooked dog food delivery services/companies, you create a profile for your dog and select your shipment schedule. Similar to other cooked dog food subscription services the profile and recommendation are customized to your dog's age, weight, breed, and other profile information. In this initial impression and unboxing, we talk about what the initial experience is like unboxing the dog food and what you can expect.
This is not a full in-depth review. We will be covering recipes, cost, taste testing, sourcing and production and much more in our upcoming review for Pet Plate. In addition, we will have a video comparing 10 different cooked dog food companies which will include Pet Plate.

I didn't see any signs of dry ice being in that box. Other services, you can see the empty bags of where the ice used to be.

Interesting to clarify you are saying you did not have any bags at all? Was the food cold/frozen upon delivery?

How do you feel about BalanceIt and making your own food?

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog

No concerns making your own, I still prefer Raw over cooked but if you prefer cooked then homemade if you have the time is a great option and really one of the best in ensuring quality and freshness and reduced clutter/trash/recycling.
There are some really solid options there course wise from Just Food For Dogs to Balance it and others. I feel the approach they have taken along with the information they provide is a great resource. Furthermore they have actually nutritionists on staff, have their only farcicality and work with closely with important players like universities. If going your own route I would definitely put in my top recommendations. I personally still feel a rotational diet is sensible regardless so do not get "stuck" on keeping a balanced formulated diet for the long term ( more than 6 to 12 months ).
Hope this helps, good and stay safe and stay healthy.

I'm still debating over Ollie, farmers dog, NomNom and Pet plate...in your experience, which one would you recommend!?

They are all of course better than a kibble based option but If it was me I feel I would include Raised right as part of the foods you are looking at. I feel their focus on a higher count of animal protein and elimination of heavy carbs or variable ingredients like rice as well as a higher standard of sourcing and transparency is superior to that of others noted. I would also note many of the others used synthetic vitamins which while not inherently negative are not as ideal as nutrients that are solely provided by the food. My recommendations would be as noted - Raised Right, Evermore Pet Food, Sundays ( a new option that is air dried ). Another new option is Your Pet's Chef which I like due to no synthetic vitamins and organ meat inclusion and a few other items. i will be doing a general preview of them in the next week. Hope this helps and best of luck. Stat safe and stay healthy.

It was just a general unboxing. I had plans to follow up with a formal review but due to a number of factors did the follow-up post online. I will note in most situations you do not warm cooked dog food unless you find you have to do this for your dog. Thawed straight from the fridge is the normal process. I have found this works for my dogs as well as rescue dogs I have tried it on. Generally, if anything warm is added it would be bone broth which has been heated. If you have additional questions feel free and let me know. I can still post a video of this if you are interested. I would say though there are other companies I would go with first before pet plate.

I would like to try just one box..... rather than subscribe first time.... can we do that??

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog
      @ExperiencesWithMyDog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

With most of these services you can sign up as a trail and then cancel but it is not streamline some services can easy cancel options and others do not. In this respect they are hoping you keep the subscription on automatic and do make cancelling a little more difficult. I will say PetPlate specifically has improved in this regard and allows you to cancel or pause your subscription via their online account management webpage. Some other companies make it more complicated and require you to email them to cancel.
I will say that for most dogs they will generally always prefer a cooked dog food compared to a dry ( kibble ) based dog food. If you just want to get a sense of them trying a cooked dog food consider there are a few others options you can try that directly offer trail options. One item to keep in mind though is you do want to try and ensure you have at least a 2 week amount if you are testing to see if you see a difference in your dog. Good luck!

These fresh dog foods need to be more transparent & put the simple Price Per Oz. There like dealing with a used car dealer

I will be re capping in a consolidated video covering all the current options but as I noted in my previous comment there are a few other options which are clearer when it comes to amount of food alongside the pricing.

I bet u payed over $200 for that brand of food.

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog

The trail was $50 dollars which is pretty standard for many of these cooked dog foods. Ultimately what the cost will be month to month will vary depending on the amount of food.
Unquestionably if you are looking at cost there many options that are lower including pre package raw which I would advocate for first.
