Any cylinder I seal up I leave overnight to setup. I do not want to put compression pressures on the joint until the sealant has a time to setup. I always rotate the piston down to BDC before snugging up the bolts in a cross pattern. I then rotate it one Revolution until it is again at BDC and tighten them up pretty tight. Then I rotate the piston to TDC and finish tightening them. I always tighten in a cross pattern - real left, front right, front left, rear right. I use TB 1184 as my sealant.
When you mod the divider on the intake, I knife edge vs. round it and only take material from the intake port vs. the strato ports. Want to favor the lower intake port vs the strato port. AND Permatex failed my test a few years back. I only use Three Bond 1184 or Yamabond at this point. Not every Permatex build failed, but some did. None of the Three Bond Builds have. And really cleaning the gasket surfaces with a carb cleaner. Really critical. You might be OK, but I went to Three Bond Brand and haven't had any trouble since. Also u need to have a .010" air gap with that ignition. Actually matters on cold starts.
@@kozywoodworking8114 A Honda or Yamaha dealer would have the same stuff in a different tube, Yamabond & HondaBond are OK. eBay is where I get my 1184. No one here stocks it either.
