    I have a 2014 Overland 5.7L which I'm building up for extended offroad travelling and touring (Australia) and I have no regrets at all, and the fuel economy isn't that bad if you don't bury the right foot all the time. I love this thing, lol.

I still get 18 MPG on average to about 21. Already had the rims I wanted and 20s on it. Just ran it in the snow and cold no issues put some michelin crossclimate 2 on it and they are so much better than the tires that came with it.

    I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee SRT and I absolutely love it. Had it for over 2 years now and it has not lost its novelty. Nothing compares to that 6.4L V8 Hemi. Had a tranny issue where the torque converter contaminated the tranny with metal shards at 72k miles (supposedly a known issue for these GCs?), so that was a nice chunk of change out of pocket. Next to go are probably the brakes. Torn on whether I should keep it or not. The high cost of parts is really what's tough to deal with. Hard to let it go! Anything from here is a downgrade.

    Saying that you can not tow with 3.6 and 300 horse powers is bad! I know that Americans don't care about mileage, but for example in my country in Europe, with the minimum salary per hour you can buy 1.85 litres of petrol and with the minimum USA salary per hour you can buy 7.18 litres. This means that in the purer country the gas/petrol is higher price than the country with much higher lifestyle. As far as I understand in USA the petrol 95 is around 1$ and in Germany is almost 2$ which is almost twice the price.

    2011 Grand Cherokee with 188K and YES since 2015 we have spent a buttload on repairs, maintenance, and just keeping from buying ANYTHING else. After we get it back from its numerous bouts with dealerships, it has been "cheaper" than a car loan.

On my path to the wagoneer I love it. My lease ends in 36 months it’s crazy expensive but hopefully the market calms down soon. I will say, so far I love this experience. I really do. Just started blacking out all the chrome so it’s the altitude appearance package, same platform. I just didn’t spend $6000 extra lol
    One more thing I do see a lot of hate in the road form other jeep grand Cherokee’s how does the community see the new WL platform? I love it! I think it’s really modern and sleek. But wow they really hate on this vehicle

      Option one to improve your standard halogen headlights is to hit up your junkyards for '14-'16 Xenon OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee headlights. (These will have the cool "paperclip" or "switchback" LED DRL). Just be aware that if you buy these, you'll need to be sure that you get the module boxes AND wiring harnesses along with them. Installation will also be a pretty big chore to switch them over. This option, even if self-installed, will cost you between $800 and $1,200 - as the stock used Xenon's in good condition are going for between $400 and $600 each from everywhere. AVOID the OEM lights with AFS (the ones that turn in sync with steering)...I've heard they're nothing but trouble and a complete nightmare to install.
      The second, (and best option in my opinion), for complete enclosure LED's is the Morimoto XB headlight set. Model # is LF278. They're abso-f'ing-lutely amazing!! But, they're also $1,800 msrp. However, they do offer $150 trade-in on your old halogens. For that $1,800 (or $1,650), you get: Plug & Play Wiring. Fitment for ALL '14-'22 Grand Cherokee WK2's. A DRL paperclip/switchback that changes to yellow on top to double as your turn signal, THREE bi-led capsules in each light, a WICKED startup sequence, ~5x lux brightness over stock halogens, a 5-year warranty, and free shipping. So...all things considered...if I had $1,200 to buy up a pristine set of OEM Xenon's, I'd wait for Morimoto to run a sale on their LF278's instead. There's no way I'm personally paying $1,800...or even $1,650 for them...but if they get them down closer to the $1k to $1,200 mark, I'll probably bite. If your pockets are deep enough though...please...STILL wait for a sale!! A huge cause of inflation is that people keep buying expensive luxuries they don't need, regardless of the price.

  • @krisnorman3598
    @krisnorman3598 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    While I love most aspects of my WK2, I found out that the WORST part about the newer Grand Cherokees is the fact that the standard 4x4 is actually an AWD system; while the true, locking-differential 4x4 options are only commonly found within the higher trims. If you're buying used, finding a Base/Laredo that was factory-custom optioned (specially ordered) with the locking Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system is a rarity. Instead, you'll most likely have step up and pay extra for a Limited, Overland or Summit trim package which was standard-equipped with one of the locking 4x4 systems. The problem?? Most people who actually want to take their WK's off-road and have fun don't necessarily want all the bells & whistles options on the higher trim levels - while at the same time, the people who DO want all that posh crap will probably NEVER take their Grand Cherokee on a trail or off-road in its lifetime. Luckily, I found a '14 Limited with the Quadra-Trac II that had some dings and scratches on the doors for a great price - so, in the end, those imperfections more than offset the price of all those unnecessary gizmos. Plus, with it already having a few body blemishes from the original owner, I wasn't hesitant to take it off-roading. 👍
    While I realize this bass-ackwards trim-package tiering scheme of the 4x4 systems was a designed financial play from Chrysler/Stellantis/Jeep's accounting division (aka "bean counters") to make even more money on their net Grand Cherokee sales, the Jeep community should have balked at the '14-'22 WK2's.

      You are just like me in this aspect. However, Jeeps are kind of like pistols. You want a pistol to be reliable, concealable, great for personal defense, and also target shooting, but less than $500. I can tell you, you may get two out of three of those (which, Meatloaf was right, that ain't bad), but there's no one pistol for every occasion. That's why you get multiples! And you BUILD what you want in a Jeep because, let's face it, there's no actual Jeep application that honestly allows you to build what you want from the factory! My '77 CJ7 with a 360 punched 0.030" over with headers and cam and 650CFM Holley Double Pumper isn't exactly what my 2004 GC Limited was, and nothing like my 2020 Limited X 5.7L is. I say NEVER make the perfect Jeep. Just own the perfect Jeep Collection! 😉

    • @krisnorman3598
      @krisnorman3598 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@heavenst.murgatroyd3128 Your "pistol" analogy was my point to a degree, but not quite. It's nothing but a pure marketing scheme by Jeep to commonly equip (if not standard-equip) the "fancy" grocery-getter JGC trim levels with the bona-fide locking differential 4x4 systems, while making it an option-order-only for the base trims. Doing this forces those who just want a good, rugged, dependable, semi-basic 4x4 SUV to also buy things they don't want, will rarely use, make the vehicle much heavier, more fragile, and more expensive to repair. In reference to your gun analogy, it would be more like Ruger giving you the option to either buy a simple, black-nitride .38spl snub-nose revolver WITHOUT any cylinder included...OR, if you want a complete, working pistol WITH a cylinder, making you buy it in a "range/gear package" with a bright chrome finish, picatinny rails installed all over it, a 5-25x50 FFP rifle scope on top, a bipod underneath, Oakley range glasses, a heated leather jacket, hand warmers, a special edition i-Pod with Harman-Kardon earmuffs, and a 50" Pelican case with keyless biometric entry and an electric-opening lid to hold it all. Jeep needs to offer a "Purist's Package" on all their vehicles. Give it the top-tier 4x4 system, upgraded trans/diffs/axles with a 5-6spd manual option, BFG tires, steel wheels, A/C, vinyl floors & mats, steel bumpers and/or guards, ACTUAL skid plates, water resistant and stain proof poly seats, a radio and 4 speakers standard. DONE. Everything else is optional if you want to add it.

      @@BJPLIFESTYLE funny thing I was doing oil changes every 3000 miles, maybe go with the time ? Guess is the time the engine has been running in between oil changes. The only suggestion I can give is not let the engine idle for to long periods of time. I believe oil won't reach the lifters below 1000 revolutions per minute, and this is what happened to me.

    OMG, so much verbiage with hardly any content. I’m looking for someone going through all the trims and saying what they come with as standard features “yada yada”.
    Anyway, we just put a deposit on an Altitude after comparing it to Limited X … it’s just crazy how many trims and mixed packages you need to compare to figure it all out - so we gave up upgraded 500W stereo for having LED headlights like SRT. Also it only had 7k miles on a 2020😉

      It happens. No disrespect was meant. I was only pointing out that this video didn't resonate with me.
      The title lead me to believe that there would be specific YEARS and SUB-MODELS named and specific problems that they are prone to. Usually, it is the first 1-3 years of a model after a major restyling of the vehicle that presents the most problems to the buyer and it takes to manufacturer a few years to sort out and correct the problems.
      Thank you.

      Don’t know if you’re still looking but look for 4x4 jeep in the trailhawk, overland, summit, and high altitude trims. Altitude, Laredo and limited can have 4x4 but will not have the air suspension.
