I vividly remember this match which was being played on the final day of Vijaya Dashami (Dussehera) in 1996 Titan cup. I was 11 years old back then and was overwhelmed after India's win and left for Maa Durga puja darshan after the match over.

Don't spread wrong information!!!!! Australia was indeed the strongest team throughout the 90's and it continued its dominance in the 2000's as well. By the way, Australia won its first World Cup in 1987 itself. South Africa on the other hand was a new team which returned to international cricket in 1991 after a long ban of 21 years, it was indeed a strong team but definitely nowhere close to Australia's dominance. Australia won 5 world cups whereas South Africa never won a world cup. Also, if you look at the overall performances, Australia was the most consistent cricket team during that time simply because it was the strongest team. Very few batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar dominated the Australian team, most batsmen of that time failed miserably against Australia. So don't talk nonsense without knowing facts!

Knocked out of the inaugural champions trophy in 1998 (won by SA). Tendulkar single handedly defeated them in the 1998 sharjah final. Knocked out of their annual triangular tournament, CU series in 1997 (won by Pakistan). Drew the test and ODI series against a weak WI in 1999. What they did best during this period was, beat SA regularly in both tests and ODIs who were a very strong side and ofcousre beating a strong WI in 1995. Hansie cronje had the then highest win loss percentage (73%) in ODIs which was unheard of in those days. Australia were highly competitive up until the 1999 WC semifinal. They became dominating and ruthless literally overnight after that famous semifinal.

WHere Indians Made Mistake Post & Prior 1996 we lacked a THird Seaming all rounder Like Kapil & Prabhakar so too much Load came to Javagal Srinath !!!!thats where i guess Indian side started losing many games !! Lack of third seaming all rounder plundered their prospects of victory !!! Too much down performance Hampered Sachins form u can see here he was every where Batting Bowling and FIelding really no wonder he was one man Army !! Special Dedication to people who said Mcgrath and Sachin face to face Prior Injury who Sachin was he proved here !!!
