One of the values of being old ,(70) is remembering going to hear these songs and the bands that did them when they first came out. A wonderful tribute to the great music of my growing up in the 70's awesome job folks keep em coming and keep on rocking 🎉😊
Amen to that ! Listening to the LLB doing such a fantastic job on this song sure brought back some great memories ! I was lucky enough to see The Edgar Winter Group in San Antonio, TX in 1974. It was an epic show !!
Yes the musicianship is terrific, but what always astounds me is the the SOUND they get at the LLB! The mic compression, the mixing of volumes of each instrument, the tones that perfectly match the original recording...the work that is put in behind the scenes is truly jaw-dropping. Thank you so much for all that you do!
That was incredible. I'd totally forgotten "Free Ride". Quintessential "turn it all the way up" song. Man that brought me back. Thank you for the hard work you do. Good to see you Vandy. Really missed your vocals. You always capture the spirit of the artist. Great job to all.
Right? It's kind of a game at this point to see if I can spot the smallest flaw. But it just ain't there man. You would literally need the studio guys from the original recording to do that. 99.99% of the average viewers can't do it.
One of the consolations of being middle aged is that Im old enough to remember when music was written and performed by real musicians. Great job, ya'll!
Oh man, did y'all just make this old man HAPPY or what?!? Randy and Ryan NAILING bottom end perfectly - and *Vandy* has the perfect voice for this one! Both gunslingers nailing the leads on guitar....I mean, this one is near perfection. God bless you all, loved it. 🙂 - Ed on the Ridge
I had the good fortune of seeing the Edgar Winter Group playing live in 1972 or early 1973 at the Hayfield High School cafeteria. Yep you heard that right! The EWG played at a high school cafeteria! Ronnie Montrose played lead guitar, and Dan Hartman played bass guitar. On Free Ride, Dan Hartman played a custom Fender double-neck guitar, with a 6-string Stratocaster neck and 4-string Precision Bass neck. It was general admission and my friend and I got there early enough to park ourselves directly in front of Ronnie Montrose. The tickets cost about $3.50 or $4.00.
My best friend and I were listening to this 45 way back in 72 or 73 and his mom came in and just shook her head and asked how we could listen to that crap. Great job covering a song I still like all these years later.
WOW...........this is another example of just how marvelous this group, Lexington Lab Band, consistently molds and massages every performance and more often than not OUTPERFORMS expectations --- probably the best "TH-cam SUBSCRIPTION" i have ever made. Congrats on yet another perfect performance !
Another fine performance. High quality sound and professional musicianship. I love how you are consistently able to get 3 guitar players, all of whom are talented lead players, to do what the song needs without any apparent egos getting in the way.
Here's the story about Free Ride. In 2010 I was in detox in Hershey PA and my assigned Psychologist just so happened to be the bassist in the Edgar Winter Group. Here's how the song came to be. My Psychologist at the time was also with Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer. The guys offered fame and fortune but my Psychologist said that he wanted to go to school to study Psychology. Johnny Edgar and Rick Derringer offered him a FREE RIDE to Fortune and Fame. Thus the song Free Ride written about my Psychologist. I actually saw the original studio Reel To Reel and got a chance to see the guys in Studio recording. He turned down a Free Ride for College.
These people are fantastic. How about a reality show , showcasing the best cover bands. The best could go internationally ,and the bands would get the exposure they deserve .
Taught myself to play the Bass in the late Sixties. Kept playing for the next 5 decades. Almost 70 and retired now. You are all spectacular. Special shout out to Randy. Stoic concentration. Flawless delivery. Just like a Totem Pole, the one at the bottom is the reguarded as the one who holds everyone else up.
Closing my eyes, I can honestly never tell if I’m listening to you guys or the original artists. And your singer is one of the most talented I’ve ever heard. Nails every single song he does. LLB always impressive. 🤘
LLB that was an epic cover of an epic song . Randy really got to show off his talent on the Bass too . I can tell he was having fun too because he *(ALMOST)* smiled. 🙂 Thank you all for that great cover..
Brings back memories of fast cars, girls, drive in movies and drinking beer! What a time it was to grow up in that era! Rock on brothers and sisters!🎸👍
I have an antique Cutlass, and an antique Corvette. Just don't have time to drive them like 40 years ago. I have to pay just to hold on to them, so I have to work.
C'mon how can you even have anything negative to say about what we just watched? This stellar performance has got to be on LLB's greatest all time list. Did I mentioned this was amazing 👏
Driving in my beater 65 Malibu high school car, but with a good stereo blasting this song out on the back roads of Michigan in the mid 70's. Thanks for the great tribute!
The Lab Band recorded/shot some songs in the Sweetwater studio in 2023, check them out (Barracuda 2023 version, Sweet Child of Mine, Walking in Memphis, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic). Drums, piano & organ/Leslie were already mic'd and dialed in, so we were able to get a quick start and shoot all four songs in one afternoon. Great experience with the studio & staff!
Mike, that was an outstanding performance of Edgar Winter. You gave Dan Hartman a run for his money with that vocal. LLB did that song justice! From the guitars to the percussion, everything about that performance was impeccable!! LLB does it right and remember." They Only Come Out at Night."
LLB has kicked out some great jams but this was IDENTICAL to the record...maybe the best I've heard...PROBABLY the best I've heard from you guys! Keep the faith, rock on!
Just amazed at the magic LLB can produce over and over! Instant flash back and "time travel" to a better time with some absolutely wonderful friends and memories! Another great rendition form LLB!

68 here brother, I'm with you, we had the best music in the 70's!
Just 62 but my 72 year old brother played all of these songs. ( Played like, radio played).
Amen to that ! Listening to the LLB doing such a fantastic job on this song sure brought back some great memories ! I was lucky enough to see The Edgar Winter Group in San Antonio, TX in 1974. It was an epic show !!
Indeed. Teenage years for me.
Indeed 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

For sure. The sound engineers are every bit as important as the musicians.
Well said my friend. The sound is so consistently good that I only watch these wearing decent headphones
i'd love to get the uncorrected vocal tracks to hear the actual 'band'
@@JR-tr1df Are you trying to discredit the LLB ?
Go somewhere else dickwad.
It only took me about 5 seconds of the intro to realize they’ve done it again I’m consistently amazed at these guys and gals Simply the best

@@allieandbo Unfortunately, Hartman is no longer with us.
Arguably the best cover band ever.
Who would argue that? No one comes close.
@@independentmusicguy I agree, LLB is cover authority of this planet.

Saw Edgar Winter at the old Charlotte (NC) Colosseum. They finished with "Frankenstein". Man, oh man.......😀

The best cover band around, and there are a few these days. Every musician is a master of his instrument or vocals
The best verbatim cover I've ever heard. Great job LLB!
These are as good of musicians as you will ever see
I agree. I’ve been following them and another group called Leonid & Friends for a while now. You can tell they work hard to get it right.
Sounds just like, what we've been hearing on the radio, for many decades!! Can definitely, hear the Bass on This Version!!

Absolutely PERFECT ✌️

Dan Hartman wrote the song… not sure what your Psychologist passed along was entirely accurate
Give talented people a great sound engineer, and you get magic. Great job everyone 👏
As a retired sound engineer, we used to say: "sh*t in/sh*t out. 😇 (If you put GOOD sh*t in...)
Some people pay good money for Great music and here I am getting it for free. Great Job Gang
The beautiful sound of revival rock! Instruments, vocals and an all out jam in just one song!
You guys as always nailed it thank you thank you thank you😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
If ya’ll ever decide to go on tour, you can bet I’d pay good money to come and see. Best cover band on TH-cam.
These fantastic performances are getting millions of views, I think you guys have reached rock star status. Congrats!
What I've always loved about this song is how every instrument and vocal is highlighted, and brilliantly so in this cover.
Dang kids, that one made me happy all over again. Played it a lot back in the day. It's a "cruiser" for the drummer. 😁
These people are fantastic. How about a reality show , showcasing the best cover bands. The best could go internationally ,and the bands would get the exposure they deserve .
And all of a sudden, I'm driving in my '66 Impala, 8 track blasting! Brings back some great memories. Thank you, LLB!
Taught myself to play the Bass in the late Sixties. Kept playing for the next 5 decades. Almost 70 and retired now. You are all spectacular. Special shout out to Randy. Stoic concentration. Never realized how good the bass part was until I heard this version. It was banging!
I took the Free Ride and now I want a Slow Ride. 😜

What? Taking me back to my youth! That's rock & roll the likes of which will never be produced again. You guys covered it flawlessly. AWESOME!!
Without question, the finest cover band ever.
Just when I think this band can't amaze me any longer (because of how great they are), they release this amazing cover, WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Another piece of brilliant singing and playing. Damn. Blows me away.

This Band Is Just Amazing.!!! Their Guitar Players Are Phenomenal.!!! As You Can See.!!!
Love the Sweetwater shirt. I was a supervisor in the warehouse before I retired & still teach at the Academy.

How do you always manage to pick the best of the 70's music? Another one hit outta the park by the llb by far the best cover band ever to exist.
