My air conditioner was set on 74 and my house was 85°. So I understand what you’re saying and you have my deepest sympathy. It was 100 and some thing outside yesterday. And it’ll be a couple of days before I get my air conditioner fixed. Oh well I’ll get over it there’s always lots of cold showers.

I grew up here in the US, NC to be exact, but I’m with you! I enjoy AC, but can’t stand to be cold. I’m the only one in my family like that, so I have to go outside during the summer to “thaw”.😩 I’m thankful for the AC, would just prefer it to be set at a higher temperature.

What are your renter rights in Tennessee? Im sure your landlord is suppose to supply window units until the problem is fixed. It should never have to come out of your pocket.
Yes, I live in TN and landlord is responsible for ALL repairs unless renter trashes the property😳 There are rental agreements where landlord will take repairs and maintenance off your rent if you do the work yourself. Just depends 👍🤗 Hope everyone is having an AWESOME day and keeping safe. 💙💖
I believe they have stated they rent from a friend. We are only seeing bits and peace’s of their day. When we rented in Tennessee, honestly we never thought to ask for a window unit etc. we had a awesome landlord and always got right on get a guy out to fix it. However, it’s not their responsibility to pay the big man for sure. I hope they didn’t leave the puppy in the heat.
I live in NE MS. I only have one window unit in my entire house. I do, however,, have very large trees in my yard. The heat is easier to contend with than extreme humidity. These last couple of weeks have been crazy with all the rain that we have had. Right now it is 92°, feels like 104° with 45%humidity. At 7pm it will jump to 89% humidity. At my age, I dont handle this mixture too well, especially since I tripped over my own 2 feet and broke my foot and sprained my ankle. I'm parked in front of the ac with the dog, 🥵. Best seat in the house, lol
Both these home issues are the responsibility of the landlord. And landlords historically do as little as possible to upkeep their rental property...more expenses for them means less income. I believe I remember you saying you live in a duplex. No matter how clean you keep your side, if next door doesn’t, roaches will always be a problem. Also, I see Carlin cleaning all the time but if you feed kids on the floor you’ll have problems; stuff will get ground into carpet, rugs, even grout. Praying for a good outcome!

Last summer I hosted a large family (15 kids and 2 parents) in my little one bathroom house while they were bringing a son to crown college, and MY AC WENT OUT! I was frantic. But that um, Pratt guy from your parents church came by and fixed it.

I just went through several nights with my air conditioner too. Fortunately we had a couple box fans. It certainly helped. Maybe you need to get a couple just in case it happens again and that way it would save you a hotel bill ( especially if you are low on funds). Take care.

I think they have 2 rooms for the boys and 2 for the girls, but there's only 4 girls at home(almost 3, because Katie's getting married) so the other girls room is free. None of them wanted to be apart after one of them(I think Alyssa) got married. There's 8 boys at home now, not sure if they all still bunk together

Hope everything got straightened out! Our A/C went out last week, and yep, packed us, adult son and kitty into car and headed to the Hotel. Florida heat and humidity, no A/C, no thank you. I get overheated fast and very sick, so we were out in 15 min! 😂 The A/C also flooded a walk in closet. It took days before everything was back right. Was a crazy time! Thank goodness it is on Landlords and Maintenance. God bless them.
Carlin I had the exact same thing happen to me when I was still living at my parents house (many years ago) I had very long hair back then and thought it was that I felt tickle my face and grabbed it to throw off me and woke up realizing I actually grabbed something, I turned on my light and then I saw the bug! I have been having to live with no air conditioning and had to stay at a hotel for a couple of days due to getting heat exhaustion. It’s so not safe especially for baby. Now I just moved into an apartment yesterday and the first day the air went out 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️

Hello Evan, I live in The Great State of Texas. When the electricity goes out I have some little battery powered fans that I pull out of storage. I then load them with batteries & my wife & I can generally make it through the night & sleep pretty comfortably as long as it’s 85 degrees or lower. Now come August it’s generally 90+ degrees & as you did I am going somewhere else. Thank goodness I haven’t had any roaches but I have occasionally seen an ant or two from year to year, but like Carlin said I have a pretty good fear of roaches & that is a definite game changer as Carlin said, but just wanted to let you know it’s always good to be prepared for emergencies. You need to invest now before you lose power or air conditioning again. Also don’t forget a battery powered lantern. All of these emergency appliances all together at Walmart cost me about $30 & hopefully you will never need them but this is simple advice I give all 20 somethings as an emergency kit for losses we in the south need to have on hand. I hope you take your shopping trip through Walmart’s camping section soon. I guarantee you will be so happy the next time an emergency occurs.
You bet! My mom & dad didn’t have a lot of money. During the great heat wave of 1980 we had over 100 days of 100+ degree days, several up to 113 degrees. They couldn’t afford the electricity bill so they only turned on the air conditioning at 2:00P.M. Then at 9:00P.M. it was powered off. All the windows were opened & the ceiling fans were turned on until the next day at 2:00P.M. Luckily earlier when I was 8 years old, my mom & dad decided I needed a mini bike & that’s how I survived. I would wake up at about 6:30A.M. & put my T-shirt on with a pair of cut off blue jean shorts, my tennis shoes & motorcycle helmet. Then get on my motorcycle & drive to the lake 11 miles from home, go swimming for about 10 minutes get back on the bike ride a round for an hour or 2, go back to the lake & repeat. One of my life’s fun & fond memories. I learned from my parents I could take the heat as long as I could keep a breeze on me. Even today to save on the electric bill my wife & I keep the A.C. set at 80 degrees with the ceiling fan on high & we stay comfortable as long as you don’t do any work. It definitely saves a lot of money!!!!
We lost our air conditioning on one of the hottest days in 2019. It got up to 86 in the house. We kept cool with a hack I saw on Pinterest, known as Mexican Air conditioning. Take empty 2 liter bottles of pop or water jugs and freeze them solid. Put them in front of a floor/box fan, and it makes a considerable difference. (Thankfully, we always have some frozen in our deep freezer for fishing and "cushion" for a few hours should the freezer ever quit) We finally got some relief then. However, it didn't help the icing on the cupcakes and tiered anniversary cake we'd made for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party, which was the same weekend the air went out🤪😂. Life is never dull!! The party went on, and we had a great time....thankfully not at our hot house though 😜
We call them Palmetto bugs in coastal South Carolina. It is a little disturbing to find one or two have gotten inside the house but it happens to everyone here. It's not the type of roach that live in the cabinets and get into food though. We have monthly exterminating to handle it and sometimes you'll still see one. What really freaks you out is when there's one laying in the floor when you wake up in the morning and it looks dead... but when you go to pick it up with a news paper or something, it comes to life and fly's away!! Yes, they can fly too!! 😳But all in all, they're harmless. I can handle a Palmetto bug, but no AC.... nope cannot, will not do that, lol!

A/C’s will freeze up if it’s set too low. On a scorcher day, you want it set a few degrees lower than outside temp. That’s it.
We’ve never had that problem before. It can be 90 outside and we keep our ac on 68 and we have never had an issue in any house we lived in.
When you live in the South, if you only turn your a/c a couple degrees below outside temps, you might as well not have the a/c at all lol 😂

I have been having to live with no air conditioning and had to stay at a hotel for a couple of days due to getting heat exhaustion. It’s so not safe especially for baby. Now I just moved into an apartment yesterday and the first day the air went out 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️

Bengal roach spray, spray perimeter of house inside and it will keep them out/ kill them. It’s great!
Get a sink shroom! It helps a lot! They get in through the kitchen sink. I am terrified of those things that shall not be named.

Hello Evan, I live in The Great State of Texas. When the electricity goes out I have some little battery powered fans that I pull out of storage. I then load them with batteries & my wife & I can generally make it through the night & sleep pretty comfortably as long as it’s 85 degrees or lower. Now come August it’s generally 90+ degrees & as you did I am going somewhere else. Thank goodness I haven’t had any roaches but I have occasionally seen an ant or two from year to year, but like Carlin said I have a pretty good fear of roaches & that is a definite game changer as Carlin said, but just wanted to let you know it’s always good to be prepared for emergencies. You need to invest now before you lose power or air conditioning again. Also don’t forget a battery powered lantern. All of these emergency appliances all together at Walmart cost me about $30 & hopefully you will never need them but this is simple advice I give all 20 somethings as an emergency kit for losses we in the south need to have on hand. I hope you take your shopping trip through Walmart’s camping section soon. I guarantee you will be so happy the next time an emergency occurs.

You bet! My mom & dad didn’t have a lot of money. During the great heat wave of 1980 we had over 100 days of 100+ degree days, several up to 113 degrees. They couldn’t afford the electricity bill so they only turned on the air conditioning at 2:00P.M. Then at 9:00P.M. it was powered off. All the windows were opened & the ceiling fans were turned on until the next day at 2:00P.M. Luckily earlier when I was 8 years old, my mom & dad decided I needed a mini bike & that’s how I survived. I would wake up at about 6:30A.M. & put my T-shirt on with a pair of cut off blue jean shorts, my tennis shoes & motorcycle helmet. Then get on my motorcycle & drive to the lake 11 miles from home, go swimming for about 10 minutes get back on the bike ride a round for an hour or 2, go back to the lake & repeat. One of my life’s fun & fond memories. I learned from my parents I could take the heat as long as I could keep a breeze on me. Even today to save on the electric bill my wife & I keep the A.C. set at 80 degrees with the ceiling fan on high & we stay comfortable as long as you don’t do any work. It definitely saves a lot of money!!!!

We lost our air conditioning on one of the hottest days in 2019. It got up to 86 in the house. We kept cool with a hack I saw on Pinterest, known as Mexican Air conditioning. Take empty 2 liter bottles of pop or water jugs and freeze them solid. Put them in front of a floor/box fan, and it makes a considerable difference. (Thankfully, we always have some frozen in our deep freezer for fishing and "cushion" for a few hours should the freezer ever quit) We finally got some relief then. However, it didn't help the icing on the cupcakes and tiered anniversary cake we'd made for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party, which was the same weekend the air went out🤪😂. Life is never dull!! The party went on, and we had a great time....thankfully not at our hot house though 😜
My apartment got up to 88! Central AC is a luxury that I will definitely pay for once I buy a house! Stay cool Stew Crew 😎

We call them Palmetto bugs in coastal South Carolina. It is a little disturbing to find one or two have gotten inside the house but it happens to everyone here. It's not the type of roach that live in the cabinets and get into food though. We have monthly exterminating to handle it and sometimes you'll still see one. What really freaks you out is when there's one laying in the floor when you wake up in the morning and it looks dead... but when you go to pick it up with a news paper or something, it comes to life and fly's away!! Yes, they can fly too!! 😳But all in all, they're harmless. I can handle a Palmetto bug, but no AC.... nope cannot, will not do that, lol!

I was saying that when they went to the hotel why they didn't just stay with family but I'm glad they did it for the short term. I was waiting to them say they're moving out into their own house(like sister Alyssa) but guess not yet probably still too pricey 🤷🏽♀️
