I originally ordered the Obi-one Darth but canceled it as soon as Rotj announced. It just hits home. It brought up memories when my dad took me and my brother to see the movie in the theater release. It has so much nostalgia and meaning of a father saving his son. Plus, lol if I bought obi version I would want all of the inquisitors.
Sebastian Shaw is iconic, especially for precisely 2 minutes of screen time. I absolutely love it. However, that split helmet version is too wicked awesome to pass up. I'm all in on Hayden. I may pick up the Sebastian Shaw version as well just to have the best of both worlds but we'll probably never see a split helmet design ever again. Great video, thanks for sharing!
I preordered the Kenobi Vader first then canceled it when I saw the ROTJ. But later realized that Hot Toys may never remake the damaged Vader helmet from the Kenobi show so I preordered it again after regretting cancelling it. So I did both.
I ended up going with kenobi Vader deluxe because it comes with both versions, I love rotj and I probably watched it 100 times as a kid but Luke has always been my favourite and I’ve never had that close of an eye for vaders armour, the clean armour from kenobi will work for me for og trilogy and I just can’t skip that cut headsculpt

There are two Vader moments I need in my collection. The moment he reveals he’s Luke Skywalker’s father from ESB, and Vader’s redemption from RotJ. It’s the first time we see who’s under the mask. We expect to see a face just as aggressive under the mask. But instead we see the face of a tired, disfigured, defeated man. And at that point we understand what the dark side has taken from him. It’s a powerful moment, and one I need in my collection.
I ordered both. I have the CW Anakin and ESB Vader. I also preordered the young Anakin. He is one of my favorites. I hope to get the New Hope and Darkside Anakin at some point as well. Heck, I would even get kid Anni if they released him.
Definitely going with the ROTJ Vader because of the Sebastian Shaw headsculpt. I have the ANH Vader which will be my masked Vader and the ROTJ Vader will be my unmasked Vader.
I'm glad I don't have this dilemma haha. I am a prequel fanboy. Hayden is my Vader. I have to admit though, that OT Vader with the headsculpt looks phenomenal. Sorry I couldn't be of more help lol! Hope you make the best choice for you and your collection
Great video & a choice I also had to make, I do not have the space or funds for both. I opted for the Return of the Jedi Vader as the original trilogy is what I grew up on & for me that is the most iconic representation of Darth Vader. While I do love the Obi Wan version I am very happy with the pre order choice I have made and cannot wait to get my first Hot Toys Vader!

I had this internal debate before making the pre-order. I still kinda do. Ultimately I chose ROTJ Vader baca use it’s from OT but I acknowledge that the fractured helmet with the Anakin exposure looks pretty awesome and different than most Vader figures.
Kenobi Vader ended up being my only Vader. I just love that scene where he tells Obi-wan that he killed Anakin. I prefer how his helmet looks in the Kenobi version. RoTJ Vader still looks great.

I have the ANH 2.0, Rogue One, and ESB Vaders by Hot Toys, along with the Sideshow ROTJ 2.0 Vader. I love them all, and I will continue to add more to the collection. So hard to pick one over the other between the Hot Toys Obi-Wan, and ROTJ Vaders. Both figures look great.
Both, the Kenobi series svcks but the battle damage helmet is iconic, we saw it before in comics Lucas canon, the other one is iconic too, from the movie the return of the Jedi
First of all: both figures are awesome. And I can only speak for myself here. I grew up with the Original Trilogy. So there was no question for me as to which version should represent Vader for me.
Could you make a this or that with Kenobi Vader vs the new Battle damaged Vader please. I’ curious about your opinion, I think that new Vader with that mask shaped cape, the base and the heavy battle damage is the coolest looking Vader ever made by Hot Toys

Empire strikes back, Vader at his peak, between ESB and ROTJ, Vader was doubting himself, conflicted, you could see it when Luke was rescued by Leia and Luke goes Father and Vader goes son, he was slipping back to the light, by the time of ROTJ he was almost 50/50, Luke said it himself, i feel the conflict within you let go of your hate! so yeah in ESB he was ready to chop luke in half, no doubts no hesitation.

Ive got the Empire Vader. Sure it'd be nice to have these other 2 but how many Vaders do you need?? I want ALL the Luke Skywalkers but theres good reason for that since he had so many different looks. That said ... Go for the ROTJ Vader!
I don’t really understand the confusion here. The suits are 90% the same. The only question to ask is: which one has the better accessories and if you want a head sculpt. Bc if you put these on your shelf you wouldn’t know the difference between Jedi or Kenobi hot toys
I wouldn't call it confusion. The folks who are die hard star wars fans or Vader fans 100% know the difference between the suits. Guys I stream with like collecting weekly have even done extensive comparisons between them 🤷♂️ however I also agree that if you can't tell the difference, the it's who's face and accessories would you want to display! Mask eye shape is different (sad eye look on mask) , button colours, cod piece is larger on obi version shoulder armor is larger on ROTJ. Also obi version has a Saber holster on the belt where rotj does not. Lastly obi version has subtley longer mask to accommodate the head underneath making it appear taller and more narrow where as rotj does not have that look as elongation of the mask wasn't needed. Hope that helps

I feel like you didn't watch the video if you're asking me this question. I address both which headsculpt I like more and which one I like the accessories more. You could say the same about half the iron men that exist. Some look so similar, why have multiple suits? The question comes down to which movie representation or show representation do you like most. I liked both. And both figures have wins and drawbacks. You asked for the differences. I'd say those are enough to warrant the question. And with the nearly 70 comments below, other collector opinions might help you as well
When inart comes with their batman I would like to hear your thoughts which should you buy Inart vs HT. If you research the suit prop and make your input based there it would be a hell of a video. For me the ROTF Vader is the way to go.
I absolutely will once the inart final is released. It would be a tad unfair to compare the prototype to the Hot Toys final product. The Sebastian Shaw Vader is definitely more iconic and impactful but people are really drawn to the battle damaged version. Hard to say. For me, I’d probably get the ROTJ version just because it’s so impactful. Plus Kenobi was ass lol.
I already have the Sideshow limited ROTJ vader already so a Shaw headsculpt is already in my collection, along with a ROTJ Luke. For me the Obi Wan show Vader and Obi-Wan are just perfect together too. New vader AND old vader 💪
Unfortunately you will have to contact them. Every store waits for inventory from Hong Kong so if they didn't have it in stock yet, it could definitely take a while
I don't like the sad puppy dog eyes on the Jedi version of the Vader helmet. I prefer the rogue one/new hope helmet which the Kenobi show Vader is closer to. So for me its the Kenobi Vader. Empire is my favourite Vader scenes but not my favourite Vader helmet.
Rotj figure represents a scene that undeniably the more iconic. However, I think hot toys is gonna miss the mark with the helmet sculpt just like they did with ESB vader. The eyes were angled in a way that really subtracts from the vader look, and that looks to be the same for this rotj vader. From what we’ve seen from available displays, the kenobi vader undamaged sculpt looks absolutely perfect.
It seems to me that the lenses have a slight V shape that look cool but don't match with the original prop. The ROTJ otherwise looks accurate to me, much better than the Hot Toys Vaders we had so far. I also hope they make both taller since Hot Toys tend to make them slightly shorter than they should be. IMO, the Sideshow Vader 2019 has the right height.
The ONLY two things keeping me from fully committing to the Kenobi Deluxe right now is the latge crotch protector on the Kenobi version, and the redemption arc behind the ROTJ version. I think in the end though, Kebobi would win for me. However classic the redemption Vader is, it will look weird to pose him with that removed helmet standing up. If we're honest we both know we will display Vader in a powerfull stance with his helmet on, damaged or not. And a powerfull, angry and hatefull Vader is the one from Kenobi. Vader is wasted potential, conflict, rage, regret, hatret and power. Yes he is redeemed in the end and that makes him interesting, but when we think Vader we think of him for his menacing presence and conflicted Jedi heart. For that, the Kenobi (Hayden) one wins for me. When you switch out the non-damaged pieces on the Kenobi one, you could even argue him away as the ROTJ version too, minus the crotch. And who knows, you can find the unhelmeted headsculpt in the aftermarket one day.

@@TheBenThomasShow My pleasure :) About an hour ago I made the choice and put my pre order through for the Kenobi Vader. I have no regrets. My biggest fear is the large crotch piece, but I think when the figure is here in it's full form it'll be less jarring. In terms of justifying this choice I see this Vader seperate from the Kenobi Series itself. Like I said, when I picture Vader I see a menacing, powerfull, yet conflicted presence. And that is without a doubt best represented by what we get from the Kenobi Vader now. The Deluxe extra's are just amazing. You can choose between damaged Hayden or full strength Vader. In the end, every specific movie version carries a certain important line of dialogue or an impactfull moment. But Kenobi Vader for me, resembles a much broader concept: that of how I picture Vader in my head. Menacing, conflicted, hatefull and strong.
I'm thinking of buying the ROTJ Vader if I do it will be the first hot toys I ever buy. I'm not sure however since I know the vaders suit flakes due to the pleather. I will have to see how I feel closer t o release if its still available.
Depends on your climate as well. I've never had and peeling issues with my ESB one! Knock on wood anyways! But for a first Hot Toy it would be epic asf! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!

Tbh i go with the kenobi vader just bcuz i feel like that last dual scene was probably the most memorable scene of all starwars now just bcuz of how sad it was it really touched everyone

People talk about how classic OT is and all that. For me, it's about when did he do the coolest shit? The OT lightsaber fights, Vader's in particular, were mid. They just were. In the Kenobi series, VADER WAS A SHEER FORCE. He was so much more menacing than he was in the trilogy. It's prime Vader...the Emperor hadn't completely neutered him yet...he still had his own motivations, his own desires. And you could see that in the way he handled himself. ROTJ is "time to make the donuts" Vader. He's just way cooler in the Kenobi series.

The Sebastian Shaw Vader is definitely more iconic and impactful but people are really drawn to the battle damaged version. Hard to say. For me, I’d probably get the ROTJ version just because it’s so impactful. Plus Kenobi was ass lol.

I already have the Sideshow limited ROTJ vader already so a Shaw headsculpt is already in my collection, along with a ROTJ Luke. For me the Obi Wan show Vader and Obi-Wan are just perfect together too. New vader AND old vader 💪

I don't like the sad puppy dog eyes on the Jedi version of the Vader helmet. I prefer the rogue one/new hope helmet which the Kenobi show Vader is closer to. So for me its the Kenobi Vader. Empire is my favourite Vader scenes but not my favourite Vader helmet.

Rotj figure represents a scene that undeniably the more iconic. However, I think hot toys is gonna miss the mark with the helmet sculpt just like they did with ESB vader. The eyes were angled in a way that really subtracts from the vader look, and that looks to be the same for this rotj vader. From what we’ve seen from available displays, the kenobi vader undamaged sculpt looks absolutely perfect.

It seems to me that the lenses have a slight V shape that look cool but don't match with the original prop. The ROTJ otherwise looks accurate to me, much better than the Hot Toys Vaders we had so far. I also hope they make both taller since Hot Toys tend to make them slightly shorter than they should be. IMO, the Sideshow Vader 2019 has the right height.

The ONLY two things keeping me from fully committing to the Kenobi Deluxe right now is the latge crotch protector on the Kenobi version, and the redemption arc behind the ROTJ version.
I think in the end though, Kebobi would win for me. However classic the redemption Vader is, it will look weird to pose him with that removed helmet standing up. If we're honest we both know we will display Vader in a powerfull stance with his helmet on, damaged or not. And a powerfull, angry and hatefull Vader is the one from Kenobi. Vader is wasted potential, conflict, rage, regret, hatret and power. Yes he is redeemed in the end and that makes him interesting, but when we think Vader we think of him for his menacing presence and conflicted Jedi heart. For that, the Kenobi (Hayden) one wins for me. When you switch out the non-damaged pieces on the Kenobi one, you could even argue him away as the ROTJ version too, minus the crotch. And who knows, you can find the unhelmeted headsculpt in the aftermarket one day.

@@TheBenThomasShow My pleasure :) About an hour ago I made the choice and put my pre order through for the Kenobi Vader. I have no regrets. My biggest fear is the large crotch piece, but I think when the figure is here in it's full form it'll be less jarring.
In terms of justifying this choice I see this Vader seperate from the Kenobi Series itself. Like I said, when I picture Vader I see a menacing, powerfull, yet conflicted presence. And that is without a doubt best represented by what we get from the Kenobi Vader now. The Deluxe extra's are just amazing. You can choose between damaged Hayden or full strength Vader. In the end, every specific movie version carries a certain important line of dialogue or an impactfull moment. But Kenobi Vader for me, resembles a much broader concept: that of how I picture Vader in my head. Menacing, conflicted, hatefull and strong.

I'm thinking of buying the ROTJ Vader if I do it will be the first hot toys I ever buy. I'm not sure however since I know the vaders suit flakes due to the pleather. I will have to see how I feel closer t o release if its still available.
Depends on your climate as well. I've never had and peeling issues with my ESB one! Knock on wood anyways! But for a first Hot Toy it would be epic asf! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
@@TheBenThomasShow I live in the UK so it gets pretty cold in winter and quite humid in summer. I do know the humidity can cause issues with it so I'll just have to decide closer to the time.

People talk about how classic OT is and all that. For me, it's about when did he do the coolest shit? The OT lightsaber fights, Vader's in particular, were mid. They just were.
In the Kenobi series, VADER WAS A SHEER FORCE. He was so much more menacing than he was in the trilogy. It's prime Vader...the Emperor hadn't completely neutered him yet...he still had his own motivations, his own desires. And you could see that in the way he handled himself. ROTJ is "time to make the donuts" Vader. He's just way cooler in the Kenobi series.
