As a 71 year old first generation fan , I love everything you've said about The Beatles, One of my greatest memories that I can still see in my minds eye is walking to my local record store to buy the I Want To Hold Your Hand single and as I walked in , I stopped to stare at the Beatles "Rocking Heads" display in their Beatles window , God that was so cool !!
I wished I had the foresight to ask the store manager if I could have it when they were done with it LOL , I know you'll have a wonderful time enjoying your new records ...

I'm 70 years old and have been a Beatles fan since the early weeks of 1964! Saw them with my family on The Ed Sullivan Show on 9th February 1964. My Dad got tickets for my Mom, sister, cousin and me for the show at Shea Stadium in NYC on 15th August 1965. The newly mixed Red and Blue albums with the song "Now and Then" sound magnificent. My family is gone, but I love sharing my love of The Fab Four. ❤

later i would do that whenever a album was released witha great cover they had big posters in the window and i asked if i could come and get it after they take it from the store window, some were already asked and others i brought them home to display in my living room when younger, when Iron maiden released their second album with bruce dickinson i had a big poster of the band menbers sitting in a traditional big table and inside the silver platter was a big brain for them to eat and i put it almost from the ceiling to the floor on my living room ,friends would ask if i was a metal head to wich i would reply, "from now on i will only listen to heavy metal" they were amazed but i had already lot´s of old rock bands and after i heard the number of the beast album when it came out from a older cousin i would start to listen more and more to that album and piece of mind i bought it as it was released, later i bought the first two with paul dianno at the vocals and the other day someone was saying that the sound of the record was horrible ,well it was perfect still sounded like 70´s production of rock bands don´t know where the guy on youtube get a bad recorded copy and at the time i started to buy more heavy rock bands like metallica first and second album ,where they look like kids but heard loud those records are incredible, i remenber them playing a concert in a summer festival after Elton John, in his Nikita phase, nikita and after for whom the bells tools, it mixes perfect the two diferent sounds,(it comes some minuts in a home video released by metallica when clif burdon died in a very unlucky way). I only had seen Elton John in 72 and in 76 ,it was like a calm guy with melody for a crazy drug adict guy with lot´s of quality playing the piano very fast, today maybe they have to build piano´s with larger keys so he´s fingers would fit

One of my favorite scenes on the old show "Mad Men" is when Don Draper tells his daughter Sally (who is upset with him at the moment) that he got her tickets to see The Beatles at Shea Stadium. Her reaction is so genuine to the way a teenage girl in the 1960s might have reacted th-cam.com/video/3Fn_Zrrc_0Q/w-d-xo.html

I’m one of those old baby boomers who lived through the Beatles era of the 1960’s when each new Beatles release became a worldwide event, and that is no exaggeration. It’s a lasting memory for sure. Enjoyed your review. Nice job.

I always used to envy baby boomers for living when the Beatles and the Stones were active. I am Gen X and was born in the late 70`s. I got into the Beatles when i was 10 years old, and i`ve LOVED them ever since. I`ve seen Paul McCartney twice in concert, and i had the time of my life.

I am an old Baby boomer myself, born in 1953, so I grew up with them as well. Saw them on Ed Sullivan and must have watch the movie Hard Day's Night a dozen times when it came out. What I guess surprises me is that even today 60 years after their first releases people is how their music still affects people. I once heard one young person in a super market saying to her friend, how she wished she had been around back then when they first came out😃

@@coleparker Got you beat by 3 years, Cole. I was 13 when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. I have the vivid memory of my entire family in front of the TV set to watch the band perform. It was quite the event. I had just purchased the “Meet The Beatles” album a few days before. I still have it to this day. But then, I have them all.

I grew up with the Beatles since I was 7 and watched them change the world with their music. I can't imagine that happening again for a long long time. It was an amazing piece of history. The red 1962/66 album was my entry point into The Beatles back when I was 16 in 1982. So I will always have an emotional connection to this album. I agree about some of the remixes....I like the fact George has more of his songs included on the albums. With Or Without you is a highlight on the Sgt Pepper album. Love your channel, Melinda! I grew up with the Beatles. I remember sitting around the TV with my parents and sisters for the first of three Ed Sullivan shows in February 1964, waiting giddily for Ed Sullivan to say "Ladies and gentlemen, The Beatles" Amidst the screams of delight from the audience, they broke into "All My Loving" It was incredible! Goose bumps! Then, later that year, on September 13, 1964, on my 14th birthday, I saw the Beatles live in Baltimore, MD. A birthday I will never forget! The Beatles have always been the soundtrack of my life, even now at 73 years young! I just received my box set and am even more super-excited to listen to it after your review! Thanks for everything you bring to our vinyl community. BEATLES FOREVER!!

It really was exciting to hear those records as they were released. Since radio was central to everything then, there was always excitement whipped up by radio DJs to mark each release as special event. When I was 13 a local station played each side of The Beatles (white album) uninterrupted, and I sat next to the console stereo in wrapt attention as the rest of the family watched whatever they were watching on television. To this day it remains my favourite Beatles album...

I can't wait to hear those remixes! I didn't know Giles Martin had remixed and expanded those old favorites - The "Red" and "Blue" Beatles collections turned on an entire new generation of Beatles fans back in 1973 - I remember Wings' "Red Rose Speedway" was released at the same time and Paul grumped about lost sales - I'm so glad Giles Martin has the keys to The Beatles Archive - I'm sure he reads his Dad's notes on all the recordings which is something nobody else would do - Great video Melinda as always❤See you next week!

And I'm with you about how the Beatles influenced and touch me. I was born in the late sixties. So I've gone through a hell of a lot of different types of music I've embraced (and dropped to varying degrees) - glam rock, disco, punk, ska, post punk, new romantic, new wave, various indie darlings like the Smiths, and finally onto acid house and rave.
Yet despite going crazy for these and then souring somewhat on some, the Beatles have ALWAYS been something that never once diminished for me. They've been with me since my very first memories of music. I can still recal the smell of the old valve Dansette record player and a couple of the Beatles EPs I would play as a mere three year old.

@@MelindaMurphy Thank you for making this video. You have deep insight and knowlegde that i highly appreciate. As far as "She loves you" which is one of my favorite Beatles songs. "She loves you" did the same thing for the Beatles in Europe that "I want to hold your hand " did for the Beatles in the U.S. It created beatle mania in Europe. Suddenly over night people were screaming their heads off at their concerts, and they were met by thousands whenever they arrived at a airport. The original version of "She loves you" is so vital and energetic. The re-mix destroyed the energy, and made is sound quiet too me. That is why i prefer the original version to this. I know people who have the original vinyl single from 1963 and it sounds AMAZING. But that is the only criticism i have of the red album. I agree with your points on the blue album. "Magical mystery tour" did not sound good at all. "The fool on the hill" was ok. Many people have complained about "I am the the walrus" as well. But overall, i really enjoyed the blue album. Its the Beatles. How could you not love a greatest hits compilation by them. Their new song "Now and then" has gone to no.1 in both the UK, and in Germany, and is no.1 on the Billboard download chart. The only reason for why it is not a no.1 on the actual Billboard hot hundred is that it is not played on the radio in the U.S. which is sad. It is set on high rotation on the radio in the U.K. and in Germany and other European countries. Anyway. Thank you for making this video, and for sharing you thoughts. I really enjoyed it.

I was kind of not looking forward to buying this set, but I did. I got the CD's, and I really find it worth while, I really like the new mixes, makes the music sound fresh & different. I really like the Red album a lot, it's nice not having all the vocals panned to one speaker, that right there is a big plus. The sound quality is very good, I am pleasantly surprised by these albums, so a big thumbs up! I was born in late 1959, so I did get to witness a lot of the Beatles mania, even though a little young, collected 45's by them at the time, I remember them appearing on the Ed Sullivan show, but not allowed to watch it, past bedtime. From 1960 I just missed the Beatles craze by 10 years but they are my favorite band. The Stones has a great collection of songs. But you're lucky to find 2 great songs on their albums while you'll only get 2 middle of road the songs on any Beatles album. As you say, it's almost overwhelming with that many great songs. I have listened to so many scratched Beatles albums and bought some of them 2 or 3 times that I'm 100% for CD's.
I still enjoy the fake stereo of the old songs but I must say that overall these remixes sound great, they sound fresh, cleaner and more up date. I was surprised though, that they didn't remove the background noise on Day Tripper (its gone on 1+ and Past Masters second edition). How could they leave it there? Hard to believe they didn't notice. I've never noticed it before but with the remix I maybe listened more carefully. It is very obvious. And with the AI tech - a piece of cake to remove it... hmmm But, that is a very small detail.
My only true disappointment is that Free as a bird and Real Love are not included.
Now & Then makes me cry every time I hear or see it. That has never happened before. But all the youtubers also cry......I think it's absolutely beautiful. It certainly reminds us what we have been missing for the paste 50+ years. And then to realize they can still do a great #1 song. That is unbelieveable but testimony to their class. Perhaps Now & Then will turn out to the the ultimate love song? it touches so many strings in the human experience and existence.
What's next? I hope for special editions of their remaining albums. In particular Rubber Soul. And perhaps an update with another Anthology disc.

I haven't received my box set yet and I was at first not going to buy them since I have the vinyl red and blue I bought in 1973 and the the CD versions I bought in 1993. But after watching the official video of making "Now And Then" I had to get the blue 7" and the 2023 box set. Hearing how they were able to separate John's voice from that cassette recording blew my mind, and hearing him alone is rather heart rending.

I have the original releases of these two album sets, along with remastered copies that were released years later. I am a Beatles fan, and do have all of their albums. So now I question myself, how many copies/versions of these songs do I really want or need? The box set you shared with us today (colored vinyl) is what I consider to be very expensive, for music I already have in my library. Knowing you are a true and dedicated fan of the Beatles, you also hold the sentimental value of having these in your collection. I get it! Bravo to you for making this purchase, and may you enjoy the music for a long time to come! 👏😁👍

Melinda, The Beatles in my opinion are the Best Band Ever!!!! I'm 53, I have a older brother (9 years older than me) he got me into the Beatles at a early age. I remember (I had to be 7 or 8 years old) and he would come home late at night and wake me up and show me the Let It Be album and quiz me on who John Paul Ringo and George was LOL! I'm a Zepp and Doors, Van Halen, Queensryche guy but The Beatles are always number 1. Love your Beatles hoodie! Looks great on you!. All the best to you and your husband! Love your Channel! Oh! I just got the MoFi Studiodeck! replaced my old ATLP120, Holy Crap it is Amazing!! Thought my LP's sounded good but now I hear things I never knew existed. Just Amazing! I'm a John guy, my wife is a Paul girl. John is a little more gritty in my opinion.

For someone "fairly new" to The Beatles, you just did a remarkable in-depth review of Red & Blue. I grew up with Van Halen too--along with the other rock bands of the era. But I've been a Beatles fan since the mid-70's. I heard of them earlier than that, of course. But I was too young to really appreciate them back in my early elementary days. But once I got my first Beatle album (Revolver), I became an instant huge fan that my mother often wondered what had happened to me. I was collecting everything Beatles, may it be magazines, newspaper clippings, books, t-shirts, their solo albums, videos, etc. As the saying goes: you can't keep a good band down. And I'm still enjoying my ticket to ride till this very day. All we need is love, folks.❤️🤍💙💚

I’ve been anxiously waiting for your review for this box set!
The Beatles are also my all time favorite band. I was 4 or 5 when I first watched them on Ed Sullivan. My parents bought the first album “Meet The Beatles” and played it all the time. My folks even bought my brother and I Beatles wigs (yes the actually sold Beatles wigs) so we could look like a Beatle while we sang along. Not sure why I shared that. 😂
I agree with you 100%! Everything you said was absolutely true. I couldn’t have said it better myself. The Eagles are my favorite sentimental band like Van Halen is for you. But The Beatles are the greatest band of all time.
I too got emotional when I heard Now and Then but when I saw the video I was bawling. The slow fade out of The Beatles at the end just did me in. 😭
It’s not one of their best songs but in the end knowing it is the very last song we’ll ever get from them makes it more sentimental to me.
I haven’t gotten my records yet. I also ordered the colored albums. I can’t wait to get them!
Thank you for a great video. I loved everything you said about The Beatles.
You look very beautiful today and I really love the hoodie!
Btw I have something I’d like to send to you. Can I send it to the same address you gave me a few years ago?

I got the Blue album yesterday, the Red is on its way still. Overall the album sounds fantastic. The additional songs are a nice touch and make a more complete picture. For me I was floored by “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”. I have the Abbey Road box set, but in the context of this set, the song is a standout. Somehow it was like hearing the song for the first time. “Now And Then” has really grown on me. Previously I’d only heard it on TH-cam or the radio, it sounds SO much better on my home equipment. Born in 64. Saw Yellow Submarine at the movies. Bought the red & blue albums when they came out. I also bought Live at the Hollywood Bowl. I enjoy hearing the remixes but, my favorite listening experience is the remastered mono set with stereo Abbey Road/Let it Be. Those were priority mixes just before pressing, so it feels like I’m getting the definitive vision but, with a bit of a modern-day tweak. It’s fun to pick out different things in the early stereo versions, but it’s also distracting at times. I like when Giles takes the chance to not pan tracks as they did back in the day …hard left and right. He’s brilliant btw… Just listen to the Love album. That said, I’m happy to see the world still talking about this most amazing band… and it’s beautiful that future generations will experience their magic in a fresh new way. Long Live The Beatles. Gone is the horrible stereo with vocals in one channel and instruments in the other. It's like 3d against the old 2d recordings. Here in UK regular prices of the vinyl is £75, and the cd about £35, although Amazon UK is selling with a good discount for both formats. I owed you a comment on this Melinda... I remember Abbey Road being brand new. I was 11 years old. My next door neighbor's older brother bought a copy and I remember asking him about it. A very cool Beatles memory. You did great here. Your love of the group was very moving for me. The Beatles red was the catalyst for my full blown Beatlemania. Blessings for you and the family. 🥰

Thank you Rachel. I'm envious that you grew up when they were still together and Abbey Road was brand new. I guess if there is a downside, you also had to live through their break up. That must have been hard on their first generation fans. Thank you and blessings to you and Sue. ♥️

First, I want to congratulate you again on a fine review. Your presentation was nice and relaxed and conversational. I could hear all your words. So many TH-camrs talk at breakneck speed, and I have to go back to get what they said. It was also very informative. Simply put, I enjoyed it, as I do all your reviews.
This is the first review of the set that I have watched because there are zillions.
I'm a huge Beatles fan. They are my favorite group. Their music changed my life. I'm fairly knowledgeable about the Beatles, and I try to add some useful information in a bit. I'll try to be as short as possible, but it's going to be hard.
I was not of the Beatles generation. I lived in a small town in thePhilippines with my parents, who were medical missionaries, from 1961-1965. So the height of Beatlemania was over, and I was only 9 1/2. We lived in a couple of small towns and were getting reaccustomed to the US. I didn't even know who the Beatles were.
When I was sophomore, we moved to Birmingham, which was a big change. Besides The Carpenters, Seals and Croft, Bread, and a few other artists, the airwaves were dominated by hard rock, which I had a difficult time relating to.
Then a Beatles group played in the gym of our high school middle of junior year. I had never heard such rock music before. It was gloriously harmonic. I went out and bought the Red album, the first album I ever bought. This was in 1974, a year after the two albums were released. I played both the Red and later Blue albums hundreds of times. My mother, who was in the kitchen next to the living room, where our high-quality H. H. Scott console was located, came to know their music too. I'm not sure she related to a lot of it, but she especially liked 'Hey Jude' and "Here Comes the Sun.' One time after playing 'Hey Jude,' she came to me and said, "Rusk, you see, that song was about helping a young man getting over his fear of girls," which could be one interpretation. You see, I have never had a date at that time, and my mother was trying to encourage me. I had a great mother.
Now on to the albums. I have not purchased them yet so I really can't comment on them too much. What I instead was buy the unremastered versions in CD form, just tonight. I did that because I'm fearful they might have flubbed it. I have heard some songs from it. They are different. The positions of the instruments and vocals have been altered. I do not believe that should have been done. That should have been left alone. What George Martin did with the Beatles was the original intent of the artists. When you change positioning and loudness, you essentially change the original music. It is no longer what the Beatles then.
Now a little history. In 1987, George Martin went back and remastered all the albums. He said that he cleaned up and tightened up all the albums up to 'Sgt. Peppers' using modern technology. After that, he just made sure that the transfers to CD were good. Here's some inside information. In 1977, George Martin went back and remastered 'Sgt. Peppers', on the 10th anniversary of its release. He just used modern technology to tighten everything up. I bought that album again, and it was a bit cleaner. But nothing in the music had been changed--not a drop. On a side note, I have a picture disc of 'Sgt. Peppers' that was released about a year later. It had some of the cover art on the front and back of the vinyl. It was a colored disc, but with art. I've only played a couple of times. I'm not really into money, but I suspect it's worth a good bit. I also have a Mobile Fidelity record of 'Abbey Road.' It sounds fabulous. The bass is so powerful. It's the only Beatles record that Mobile Fidelity ever did.
Now, there a few songs here and there that I different mono and stereo versions. Now those songs a fair game for remastering. Some of the versions that got released on certain albums and in certain markets were not the masters intended. My mother was fortunate enough to spot a collection of all the Beatles singles for sale in the classifieds. It was a couple from Australia who were near retirement age and moving back to Australia. They were singles released in Australia. Most of the single are identical, but there are a few that are from different takes. So there are different versions of some songs floating around. Two of the most notable are 'Paperback Writer" and 'Rain'. There's tons more reverb on the single versions than what we got in the US. In that case they should be restored to their original single versions.
Now you said that the best albums would be to have the original UK pressings. I understand your reasoning, but I disagree. The reason is that the quality control and just plain quality of British pressing plants is sub-par. I experienced this myself when I bought a UK pressing of 'Help.' I bought it because it had more songs than the US version. But the pressing wasn't good. There was lots of distortion on it. Of course, this was around 1980, and the pressings in Britain might have been better in the 60s.
But there's another big issue with all Beatles's recordings. Britain did not have very many people with stereo playback until 1968 or thereabouts. But the US did, so the US distributors of the Beatles records released them in stereo. And George Martin knew that by 1967 if not before. That's why you have a big controversy about 'Sgt. Peppers' and the remaster. This is what happened. The Beatles only heard it in mono. They never heard it in stereo. But George Martin and Geof Emerick, the engineer for most of the Beatles's records, got together after the recordings were a wrap, and secretly put together a stereo mix and had that distributed in the US. And they also slowed down 'She's Leaving Home.' So if you've ever heard the panning on 'A Day in the Life,' where they move the sound slowly from one side to the other in the middle of the song, it's something the Beatles never heard. Personally, I think it's fabulous. And I think George Martin knew the impact it would have in the US. Paul heard it in recent years and was not happy. So they remastered 'Sgt. Peppers a few years ago and it more like mono and upset most Americans, who were accustomed to hearing it in stereo. There was a big "I Protest" campaign of sorts in the US. I'm lucky enough to have it in both the stereo vinyl and non-remastered CD version. To me, it sounds great. I have not heard the remix. So that's the other issue. We in the US had the capability of stereo playback, while most people in Britain didn't.
Okay, I'll wind up here. I will say that Paul McCartney is also my favorite solo artist. Oh, and 'And I Love Her,' was the first Beatles song to be totally acoustic. I didn't know that until recently. I don't know how Paul recorded his bass to make it all acoustic, but apparently he did. At least that's what Guitar Trooper says. The strings on 'Now and Then' were written by Paul, wholly or mainly, and he sat in on the recording session of it. And there might still be another Beatles's song out there. According to Paul, he put together an experimental piece around the time of 'Sgt. Peppers,' which might have been supposed to be on it, but there wasn't room. He's stated that's he's determined to get it released someday.
So, it's possible the remasters might have fumbled the ball some here. Others seem to be complaining about 'I Am the Walrus.' But if all else fails, you might be able to find the non-remastered songs on iTunes. I know that's not as fun as vinyl. For me, if I had to have only one album, it would be the Red, though I'm not sure about its current form. Regardless, I again want to congratulate you on your excellent presentation.
Trivia: The Beatles, mainly George Harris, discovered James Taylor. George also helped the Indian sitar player, Ravi Shankar, achieve worldwide fame. Norah Jones is Ravi Shankar's daughter. Ringo is left-handed, part of what gives him his distinctive style, a style that contributed significantly to the Beatles's sound. Queen Elizabeth was an enormous Beatles fan. Economists have estimated that at their peak, all associated industries with the Beatles made up 2/3 of Britain's economy.

Wow! What great information. 🤗♥️ I loved the story you shared about your mom. She gave you a pep talk but let The Beatles say it in a song. Lol. I'm glad you have great memories of your mom. I feel the same way about mine. ♥️
The George Martin mixes will always be the definitive versions. That will never change. What Giles has done is interesting and will probably appeal to a younger crowd. I personally find these remixes interesting and enjoyable but no one can touch George Martin. I will say I also like the MoFi version of Abbey Road but my favorite is the UK first pressing.
Great trivia information. A lot of the people that The Beatles touched went on to be stars in their own right. Thanks again for sharing your stories about The Beatles. Thank you and take care.

I hope Giles Martin and company take note of your thoughts on the Magical Mystery Tour tracks. (I'm looking forward to that remastered release.) I also pre-ordered this colored vinyl set, but still haven't received it. When I contacted The Beatles Store online, I was told delivery would take another six weeks due to "delayed processing." Hi Melinda thanks for a wonderful and honest review on the Red and Blue Albums.
Yes I’m another first generation Beatles fan and remember vividly during the mid to late 1960’s tuning into my local radio station to hear the first playing of a new Beatles record and then after school going to the record store to order a copy and saving my allowance so I could pay for it.
My Beatles collection is reasonably extensive and have the original Red and Blue vinyl and later the CD pressings of the albums.
I only received the new versions of the Red And Blue (CD’s) today. My first impressions are very positive especially on the red Album when all of a sudden I hear a new guitar cord or louder drums or bass etc that I’ve never heard before and then I get goosebumps.
Beatles music no matter how you hear it is magic but to hear a slightly different sound that your not used too just gets me a little emotional.
October and November have been very special for me this year firstly in October celebrating a special birthday and later in the month seeing Paul live on the Got Back tour here in Australia and the then this month with the new Beatles releases .
My bank balance has suffered a little but I couldn’t be happier!

I have been a Beatles fan since as long as I can remember, one of my earliest memories was jumping around in a London flat as a toddler to She Loves You in the very early 60's. I still have most of my Beatles records though some have disappeared over the years, I admit I never bought the red and blue albums until about 2 years ago when I came across them both on CD in a music store at a price I just couldn't pass up. I have to say my fav album is Rubber Soul, with Please, Please Me a close 2nd, even as a Mono album it's content was one of their best and the same photo as the Red Album.

"when a new Beatles record came out [they] went to the store and bought it" - yeah, that describes me at age 16 in 1963. Back in that day, young fans bought 45s, also referred to as "singles" - small size records that played at 45 rpm on a turntable. Singles were what folks bought for the hit songs, with a side A (the hit song) and a reverse side B (a secondary song). We all did that with great anticipation of playing that record over and over and over and.... well, you get it. Following in the food chain were the releases of albums, much larger-size, playing at 33 rpm and containing 12-14 songs. With the advent of The Beatles, not only were the singles instantly snapped up at record stores but the buying of albums made giant strides in the market, as Beatlemania took hold and young fans wanted every word of every song. With The Beatles, the hit singles were sold individually and not included on the albums. Naturally the fans bought both. The record companies loved it. Can you imagine "I Want To Hold Your Hand" as a side A with a side B being "I Saw Her Standing There"? The Beatles were the first to have double Side A's with two hits, one on each side of the 45 - no side B. Also, which songs were on which albums varied if the album was released in the USA or Britain.

    • @alecspeer
      @alecspeer ปีที่แล้ว

@@jackwezesa1081 the UK versions of the albums had more tracks, often 14, than the USA version, usually 12 - early albums were variable -
UK didn't have "Something New" album at all - nor did UK have LP of "Magical Mystery Tour" but an EP (extended play) -
"Hard Day's Night" album had only 8 tracks of the Beatles plus three instrumentals -
Canada and US had "Beatles 65" (11 tracks) album as well as "Beatles for Sale" (14 tracks) with a number of duplicated songs
later US and UK albums identical to each other such as the White , Abbey Rd and Get Back -
believe me, as a early collector in that day, the divergencies with the released content were not appreciated much

    Hello Melinda,
Not only did we get a record review, we got a fashion show too! As for the LPs, I have the original "red" album; I used to have the "blue" album but got rid of it. Though the new release has some appeal, I don't think I'll be getting it, as I have a self-imposed moratorium on LP purchases plus I'm wary of remixes in general; I'd want what I've heard before, and better-sounding. I am old enough to have seen the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1964 and 1965; I also have the DVD set with the complete shows they performed in. I'm a fan, but not a fanatic, but given the choice I'd choose the Beatles over the Stones, if that tells you anything.

I also received the red cd. I'm thrilled with most of the new mixes; there is an exception or two, but they still sound slightly better than before. Hi, Melinda. I was a young Liverpool teen when the Beatles hit the record scene. Hear 'Love Me Do' on the telly and although it's a very simple song, at the time it really stood out from the rest. Then my cousin brought the 'Please Please Me' album to my house and I was BLOWN AWAY! From the very first, 'One, Two,Three, Four' I was hooked. (In fact, I couldn't believe the Beatles had written that song. It sounded so American to my naive ears). Long story short I bought each album on release. And the strange thing is that as the Beatles took us along, we just took for granted the amazing progress that they made! We all learned to expect an almost vaudeville selection with each album. So, no surprise when ' Eleanor Rigby' was released with 'Yellow Submarine' on the b-side. Also, by the time 'Revolver' appeared with a mix of tracks from 'Taxman' 'Eleanor Rigby' 'Yellow Submarine' 'Love You Too' and the amazing, 'Tomorrow Never Knows'!!! My goodness! We just expected it from them. Its only now, in retrospect, that I am constantl AMAZED! I play it now and have to remind myself that this is 1966! Four blokes in their early twenties!!!! Nothing will ever be made like this again.

The Winter of 1968 began my journey with The Beatles, I was 7 years old, my brothers and cousins sat around the Christmas Tree and sang every word of every song on the White album, because the lyrics were printed and the songs were fun and varied! Have to thank my aunt Doris...after all, it was her album, she was hip. My mom had no intention of ever buying a Beatles record! So when I went to the record store I used to see all these older albums, and I really didn't know what order they were released, couldn't afford them all anyway. By 1976 when Red & Blue sets came out, I didn't even realize the Beatles had broken up...we had no internet, and no one told me...But in reality it didn't matter. The Beatles' music lived on forever. I WAS Also impressed with VAN HALEN, 1978, got to see them Sep 78, my closest buddy and I heard Roth and Anthony would be signing autographs at the concert hall at 2pm, They were rollerskating around the parking lot, And we got them to sign a Zildjian Cymbal(no clue what ever happened to it).

Thanks for another great video and review, I am a first generation Beatles fan and the excitement of a new record back then was a real thing but not just albums the singles were just as special, with all of the great music at that time it was essential to stay relevant and present on the radio as well as in the minds of fans, so they were a constant presence during our youth. I can't believe that at 72 I'm still buying Beatles albums, but I love it.
On another topic a different video review presented the observation that all of these reissue remixes are different from the original albums and if someone wanted to walk into a store and buy a original mix, as it was released album, they could not buy one and experience that sound.

I grew up in a home without hi-fi, just a cheap little record player and a box of 45's, though my mother played piano and exposed me to various instruments during the 60's and 70's. Like many kids back then I was assigned various chores by my parents which had to be completed before I was allowed to go out to play on Saturday mornings. My childhood friend Don had older siblings who were Beatle fanatics and his parents had a glorious console stereo in the living room so when I heard my first "hi-fi" I was hooked to the point where I would go to extreme lengths to make certain my chores were completed by bedtime on Friday night so that I could go over to my friends house to get a listen. I'd knock on the door and when invited inside I'd take a kitchen chair into the living room and park myself right in the middle between left and right and just take it all in. Of course my friend was busy doing his chores but I wasn't bothered at all. Take your time my friend, I'm in no hurry. I was probably about 7 years old at the time, Sgt. Pepper's had recently been released, I heard the discussions of Paul's possible demise and all of the other speculation. There will never be another band like The Beatles because they happened at the right time and they were good. Very, very good.

Oh wow! What wonderful memories to think back on. You became an audiophile and Beatles fan very early in life. ♥️ Thank you and take care.

I have been a Beatles fan since I was 3 yrs old in 1963 I'm now 62 yrs old, thanks to my dad with a reel to reel tape recorder that , he used to tape the Beatles on the top 40 in the uk the weekly charts as well as 60s music as well , that's my greatest gift my late father ever gave me in my life 🥰🙏🏻🎸🎸🎸🥁🎤 but the greatest band since the Beatles, was Queen and Freddie Mercury, my favourite British band is QUEEN and then the Beatles, these are my favourite bands, I was lucky to of met the band and saw them in concert with Freddie Mercury

It must have been great to grow up with The Beatles. I love Queen as well. Freddie was an unbelievable singer. ♥️ Thank you and take care.

Melinda, we both love the same bands. My fav all time is VH, (Roth era), but The Beatles are on a different planet for me that makes them purely sentimental, as I am with Elvis.
Enjoy your Beatles albums as I am mine. 😊

I was too young for The Beatles at their peak and I got into them when my mum bought the Blue album in 1973. I was tempted by the coloured vinyls but the prices are insane for me as an “admirer” rather than a collector! 😊

I agree that these were pretty pricey. I wasn't even going to buy them but I got the fever. 😳 In the end, I'm happy and I know I will be playing these a lot. Thank you and take care.

Hi, I stumbled upon this video and it really hit a chord with me. Am 56, and though I did not grow
up with The Beatles, I was a fanatic til age 30, then put my focus on my family. The group touched my heart. That passion transferred over to Mccartney music, who I have seen live 2x. He is better live than on record.
You taught me a few things in the video, and yes I had tge original 1973 albums.
I have my own music channel, and play several Beatles and Paul songs on piano.
You are as pretty as you are smart....keep up the great videos

Thank you so much for the kind comments. I'm a big Paul fan as well and even at his age, he is still terrific live. ♥️ Like you, I put music aside when I had my daughter. I let her control the radio until she was gone and it dawned on me that I could listen to the music I love. It's been fun to return to my roots and enjoy the music of my life. ♥️ Thank you and have a wonderful day. Take care.

@@MelindaMurphy Many of Paul's songs, especially his overlooked 1980s tunes, were his best. On same caliber as any Beatle song...Only Love Remains, No more Lonely Nights ect...am grateful my daughters who are 24, can experience a new Beatles song release, like yours can am sure. I subscribed today to your channel, you are cool :) Melinda
