This is by far the slickest introduction to any programme I’ve ever seen. The BBC really outdid themselves here, the graphics are spot on, the timings are great, but most of all - the remix of the classic election music is phenomenal. I don’t think people realise how good it is!
The only slight disappointment was stating the Tories won 365 seats last time, when it was more after the notional boundary changes to 372 and was a slight inaccuracy in Jeremy Vine’s analysis… a point of pedantry I know
The moment Keir Starmer would go on to mishandle riots and demonised working-class people by practically comparing them to fascists, and cut winter-fuel payments for pensioners without benefits, he's just representing the entitiled, whilst Conservatives sought a different approach.
@@ant647448336 Original Rick W recording was used, with edits in 79, 83, 92. In 87 they just played it as recorded and faded it out. In 97 and 2005 they used re-recordings (97 by Rick himself), in 2001 there was a generic piece of arty farty music with an odd time sig. In 2010, 2015 and 2017, plus the EU referendum, they used their own Election theme before bringing a re-imagined version of Arthur back, complete with David Lowe embellishments, for 2019. This year it's a slight re-working of that last theme which doesn't quite follow the original Arthur structure but sounds more authentic than 97 or 2005.
Love the giant coloured pyramid hovering menacingly over the Houses of Parliament. Doctor Who needs to take a lesson on how to build suspense from that! Also love the formation of the 24 logo from the pyramid shape.
As a gay black conservative male OF THE Conservative and Unionist Party in the United Kingdom, Clive Myrie is an inspiration for people like myself! Also love Laura Kuennsberg and the BBC! 😊

the moment 14 years of pain ended

The production value is wild. 10 live hours coverage is a marathon in television world.
This is still shorter than *American Decide*
It’s nearly 18 hours of coverage, not 10
The drama, pacing snd technical complexity up to the exit poll was extraordinary! Unrivalled!
This is the best election opening the BBC has had since 1979, I really hope they never drop that King Arthur theme.
They need to drop it, the 2010-2015 theme is far superior.
@@ChanT3no it’s not
Oh they decided to bring back the Electoral Night Song. Love it :)
I hope the BBC stick with "Arthur" this time. The other tunes they try don't put that fire in your belly.
@@pplesandoranges i hope so
First time it was used was back in 1979, great to see it's still being used.

@@pplesandoranges they brought it back in 2019, so it seems like it's here to stay
love the graphics and music this election
THIS is what a national broadcaster looks like.
BBC won't ever feel right without David Dimbleby
the Giant Tetrahedron
Love the giant coloured pyramid hovering menacingly over the Houses of Parliament. Doctor Who needs to take a lesson on how to build suspense from that!
Also love the formation of the 24 logo from the pyramid shape.
I found BBC’s coverage this year was a bit more lively than normal. Not sure how I feel about it
Best opening of BBC Election night
They really knocked this intro out of the park this year, even if Clive Myrie descended into madness as the night went on
I wish our CBC had even a fraction of the production value of the BBC.
Nothing quite like it, the mix of the King Arthur and BBC countdown themes is incredible - suspenseful, electric, exciting.
@@ronanmurphy98David Lowe is a fantastic composer/arranger
The 2015 election that CBC did was pretty good imo
@@ronanmurphy98It’s awful, they had a superior theme in 2010.
If It's on international feed channel, it's definitely no clock shown like on domestic feed or BBC One.
It really makes you miss Dimbleby
He's brilliant and will be missed ❤
This music is groovy.
That intro was masterful

Liked the ‘double act’ format with a male and female presenter
Caesar Flickerman vibes
The King Arthur theme was brilliant though!
why is it on beat
