A big thank you to my supporters on Patreon for helping financially support this project. Also thank you to every one who gives a thumbs up (or thumbs down) and makes a comment. I appreciate hearing from you all!
Thank you so very much for this. It was truly wonderful! Not being able to get out as much for various reasons, mainly health, this has been a true blessing. Thank you again. GOD bless you all, stay safe.
Top notch! Thank you. I am reminded of a favorite quote once shared by Marshall Trimble, Arizona State Historian. "All America lies at the end of the wilderness road, and our past is not a dead past, but still lives in us. Our forefathers had civilization inside themselves, the wild outside. We live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers. What they dreamed, we live, and what they lived, we dream." T. K. Whipple, “Wilderness Road”
Good beginning. Having been a living history person since 1972, and for the next 25 years doing Civil War re-enacting, I know some of what it takes and what you are doing. This should be interesting.
I too studied a lot of history, some thru a community College and some on my own studies. I found this to be very interesting and pretty detailed in description of that era. Thank you for sharing.
I've really enjoyed this whole series. I wish there were a lot more! You've done a wonderful job of bringing frontier history to life. I was wondering if the ladies that are your family are your actual family?
I'm watching your 1790's Survival Series again starting with this one. It's been a year or so since I watching this episode. I enjoyed watching it again.
Man that was awesome! I only wish it were longer! I am really excited to see the next part, and on a side note ... a bloopers and outtakes reel after the finale would be a fun touch too ;) Keep on keepin on brother! Much respect
I am so impressed by the level of detail and your story telling. I'm really glad I discovered your series while I'm trying to learn about how things were done in the past.
James your an excellent narrator not to mention u act and look the part, I am going to thoroughly enjoy this series, cant thank you enough , looking forward to Mondays now : ) hope all is good with u my friend !
Outstanding. Born after my time . Can only imagine what these people went through colonizing the country. I’ve heard the stories of what my kin went through in Louisiana but it was already established if you can call it that . Thank you
One of your best & right down my alley! I love re-enacting the 18th century, & I commend you on your gear & historiacl attire. May God bless you & keep you safe.
EXTREMELY INTERESTING! This is the fifth time I have watched this. It was very good watching you put on all your things for your journey. "A place for everything and everything in its place." If only I would follow this more often. Stay safe and GOD bless all.
I like the part about the rifle being stored over the fireplace. A common thing to do back then that a lot of gun enthusiasts today do not understand even though they may have a vintage or replica rifle hanging over their real or faux fireplace for show. It was a good place to store your rifle particularly in humid environments to keep it from rusting. Fireplaces back then were in use all seasons since people did most of their cooking with them as well as heated their cabins in the winter. I kept my replica but working Kentucky long rifle over my fireplace in my Costa Mesa townhouse for decades for that reason rather than just showcasing my conservative roots plus it was one of my favorite guns to shoot. I had a large fireplace since the building was old and built by a Swede so I cooked in my fireplace regularly as well as used it for winter heating without worrying about creosote build up since it was easy to sweep. It kept my rifle from rusting even though I lived just a couple of miles up from the beach and had moist salty air blowing in all of the time. A side note apparently one can no longer use the word to describe ones self as a person whos neck tends to reflect a lot of red light without getting their comment deleted by the TH-cam algorithm.
Great start to this series. And the gear was state of the art at that time. And most of it is still practical today. Cant wait for the next episode. Thanks
James that was a great start to the journey and left me wanting more. The presentation and atmosphere was good and your commentary was great. Well done, can't wait till the next episode.
Looking forward to your project. Having been involved for well over 30 years myself, I can always appreciate others' efforts. You may/should find this to be a learning experience (they always are and should be), and your kit could reflect changes and adjustments as you go. Keep it up.
This is a hoot, and I am so excited to see the rest of this series! Greetings from Indiana from a 7th generation Hoosier!😁 I've found out that my great-great-great-great grandfather (1793-1853) had fought in the War of 1812, then left Virginia to settle in Washington County, Indiana in 1817, later settling in Jackson County in 1821.
Wow. Just amazing work James. Great start to this series and I’m already excited for the next one!! Thanks for everything that went into putting this together and have a great week!
Brother, I’m hooked already. I cannot wait to live this through your series. Marvelous start. I can’t do much, but I will do something through Patreon to help you with the cost of this series.
So thankful for all you freely share on your channel. I have become a $10 subscriber and hope that it helps you as you continue to grow your great channel. God bless you and your family.😊
Great. Thanks for watching! There's also an intro video to the series that's only about 3 minutes long and gives a lot more added detail to the backstory.
@@WayPointSurvival Yes I seen it already...love the other how many I watched already...I just wished they were in order. Right now it's like watching number 3, then number 1, followed by 5, etc.ect.... I like to see this movie from beginning to end 🧐🤔🥴
If you go to the latest one I uploaded, Episode 14, and look in the description box under the down arrow beneath the video, you will find the links for all of them in order.
Thanks! As this was the first episode it took me awhile to get everything balanced out properly. We are now filming for episode 15 and I hope that you continue to like the series!
Looks very interesting and I love the products of the era. But I can't figure out why someone would want to leave an established homestead in TN with its potentially beautiful scenery (at least in the eastern part of the state) for a place that has harsher winters and no visible advantage. Maybe that will be revealed later in the series.
It has a lot to do with the promise of free land and the richness of the territory. He doesn't have an established homestead they are living in a borrowed cabin. They have had very hard times and he is attempting to better their fortunes. Thank you for watching and for your question!
Good video. A few observations: 1)the hunting pouch is hanging too low. It's going to bounce around.; 2)there is some question about the use of loading blocks. Anyway, is the cord long enough to reach the muzzle comfortably? 3)the blanket roll is hanging too low. It should not hang at the butt. Overall, most things are correct. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, this first episode is demonstrating that he is not that skilled at the trail. It does improve as you go through the next several episodes. We are currently filming for episode 13.
