    I did Camp America in 2006, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The kids were from underprivileged backgrounds, so they were more often than not from very unstable backgrounds and the manager or rather, the camp director was very unprofessional. When I got back to England, I gave it absolutely horrendous review.

      I'm so sorry that happened, that's so rough. That's why I feel I always have to preface my content to explain that every camp is different because I know there are some that I would have had a much different experience with.

      What was your camp called?

    • @Naijella86
      @Naijella86 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@simonelauren6604 it was nicknamed ‘Camp Morgies’, it was an Athol, Massachusetts. I think the full name was Morgan Memorial camp. The camp director was the most unprofessional boss I have ever had in my life. The kids were as bad as anything and she appeased them. For example, 2 girls took some drugs as I recall it and they had to go to hospital and she brought them back to the camp and when they came back They had been to a fast food restaurant and they were drinking their drinks. There was never any consequences.

    Well done for making this video. I've just finished Camp America, and it was one hell of an experience. It was the best thing, the hardest thing, but above all the most rewarding thing I've ever done.
    There were bits I didn't enjoy, and I was a bit intimidated by some of the characters I met, particularly a few of the returning staff who acted a bit like smart-asses.
    I would love to do it again at some point, and hopefully I will go there with more confidence in my abilities.

    Hey, I’m planning on going to a camp this year and was just wondering, did you go to the day camps or the stay over camps? If you went to both, which one would you say is the better choice for someone who is a little more introverted and has anxiety?

    • @lilyjmerrick
      @lilyjmerrick  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I went to a sleepaway camp so the kids were there with us 24/7, I have always been an anxious individual and I think I grew so much as a person from it but if you are really apprehensive I would say go to a day camp because I am sure that way you will get more time alone :)
