If you don't want to die without other humans around you then zoom out far enough and chronologically speaking we're all dying at pretty much the same time, and spatially all in the same place. Another way of looking at it is you're a representative of existence and you'll be surrounded by things that exist till you go, so you won't be alone in that sense. I'm not sure words help but I wish you the best in overcoming that fear (if that's what you want).
This piece makes me feel blissful, reflective and also very desperate. I don’t all my friends and family to die but it’s inevitable. Life is beautiful but I’m not used to it...
I first listened to this and 'discovered' William Basinski this summer. i have just come back to it and immediately I am in that summer moment when I first heard it. It sounds like all the good and poignant emotions that I have had in my life (I'm 62)Wonderful
i have tried to think of words that describe William Basinski's music and yet no words of mine could even come close to how amazingly wonderful his music is. it is breath taking and the exact definition of beauty
@synthfreek That is ONLY for The Disintegration Loops. All his other works are simply manipulated loops from old recordings. But what he does with them is magic, El Camino Real especially. It is probably the single most listened to CD (I own two copies) in my collection and I have thousands of them. This song plays throughout the night, EVERY night accompanying me into sleep and greeting me in the morning. I can never get tired of it.
Curious enough: there is a painter named Zdzislaw Beksinski which sounds so much like Basinski. Explore Beksinski work while listening to this song by Basinski. The fitting is perfect.
I think this is how I came across this record. I was watching a painting compilation accompanied by El Camino Real. And the artist was probably Beksinski but I'm not sure. The channel was called Distant Mirrors.
I listen to this song daily to go to sleep (and keep it on repeat through the night) and have been doing so since it's release. This is Basinski's masterpiece if you ask me. Indescribably transcendent, dreamy and billowy...
I had a trip to California this summer. And I dont know if this name has any significance to the city in California. But listening to this song, and watching a Californian sunset was one of the greatest ways to experience this song. But as far as masterpiece, I would have to go for DLP 5, just because of its disintegration aspect of loosing a millisecond every repeat of the loop til the end of the song.. Actually, scratch that... All of his works are masterpieces!
Yes thx... I'm familiar with that work as well, in fact it's the first Basinski tune I heard when it came out. Been a fan ever since. Melancholia was my favorite piece until El Camino Real came out.
To those who posts these vidoes on TH-cam, make sure you select the right pictures(s) for the song, as visuels can help creating the "look" and visuel sounding "style" of the songs, thats how much it can get/be manipulated whith ... Its amazing...
+Alan Burns so true, and I'm sure I look exactly like my avatar right now!! (love to watch beksinski's painting art while listening this music!!! BEKSINSKI BASINSKI strange like their names are so similar and their art too (in different domains)
@WC3POchannel10A You should check out the history Basinski's usual music creation process. Basically he uses deteriorating tape loops and records them playing.
If all people listened to this kind of music the world would be better

Staring at dawn while playing this will always be one of my favorite pleasures in life
Bless you , William Basinski
No words could match the beauty of the sounds
the world is so gorgeous when it crashes down around me
Acid?
This is truly something special.
I love William Basinski - His music is timeless and spine tingling

Is that some kind of pun at the end there? You obviously have Stars of the Lid and Their Refinement of the Decline then?

I wanted to explain yet I’m affraid I can’t but, this is how my dreams sounds like
Céleste! Juste magnifique et si apaisant, loin, bien loin des soucis et de la pesanteur du monde.

Genious!
This reminds me of the song 'City' by Martin Stig Andersen, from Limbo's soundtrack.
When you see the cover from afar it looks like auroras over the bay
Hermoso
This is like Stars Of The Lid performing Pachelbel's Canon on a planet whose Sun just died.
Oh dear god that image is wonderful.

Alan Burns Best description of this piece I ever heard...
@TheAndrei8 Yes, I bought it a few months ago - and lovely stuff it is too.
Yes it does and yes it is...
Paz.
Soundtrack for a fentanyl overdose suicide.
Iluminación.
Does it go on like this for the full 49 minutes? I don't have the album - but the 10 minute snatch here is not enough. Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
strawhattedman Yes the full version is over 40 minutes. Magic
sweetsound.

And the Sorrows..... :)

fuck this is unreal
@WC3POchannel10A
possibly it's the end of the tape loop
Ça fait mal quand la pièce coupe subitement...
Is the digital stutter part of the piece or a flaw in the recording?
WC3POchannel10A Part of the piece
@strawhattedman yes it does. I have the full track and it is a beautiful song. :)
what instruments/effects would you use to create this?
Tape loops and lots of reverb! Sorry I'm 11 years late, by the way...
Im scared of dying alone
become pilot, crash the plane.

You are not alone my friend
