Having the group split up for no discernable reason is what I call the "Scooby Doo" approach, so I'm glad you mentioned that. It happened in literally every episode of the old Scooby Doo cartoon. That way, Shaggy and Scooby can find an empty kitchen to make giant sandwiches for themselves and the ladies can be more easily kidnapped.

The first time I saw this movie was in the early-to-mid '80s, on a CBC late-night Saturday night program called "The World's Worst Film Festival". The host only appeared a few times during the showing, and he didn't have your witty sensibilities. I remember then, lying in bed watching this, that it was the most schlocktastic things my teenage had seen up to that point! One of the things you didn't mention is that in the original release, the producers used the '70s one-hit wonder song "Popcorn" by Hot Butter (you can find it here on TH-cam) during the party scene, but for copyright reasons weren't able to use it for DVD releases. The song actually adds to the weirdness of the whole thing -- and I mean that in the good way. You can find the whole movie on Tubi, with the Popcorn song playing.

Northern New York state does have a legendary "Yeti" cryptid known as the *Wejuk* (pronounced wee-juck), but as far as I know there is no cannibal cults in upstate New York; but, it's a big place, so who knows! Unfortunately it's more likely that human munching hillbillies exist and not sasquatch.
And if anyone is ever in the Lake Champlain area between New York and Vermont; there is a legendary lake monster known affectionately as *"Champie."*
    The Truth is out there.

When we first see Laughing Crow, we hear a snippet of Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique on the soundtrack. The symphony itself is in the public domain (written in 1830), but in the US, most audio recordings made after 1924 are protected by copyright, and I’m pretty confident that the artists and record company involved never knew of their involvement in this cinematic masterpiece.

I’m only at the first “sketch” or “insert” but the way you come into frame and the reaction shots, hell, even your shadow on the mantle, phenomenal. I did a double take because when you came walking into frame my brain went “wait, how can he be in this, oh shit it’s a sketch” 😂😂😂. Except job Mark, really, excellent job.

There's a restaurant in Caro West Virginia with three glass walls facing the woods. A friend of mine had a serious plan to dress up as a Yeti and run past it. "What could go wrong?" I replied "well, we're in an area where everyone owns an arsenal and is itching to use it, but other than that..." and he never mentioned the plan again,

Normally the "finders, keepers" rule would apply, but since we can assume the rest of Tom was eaten, the "5 second" rule would actually be correct as established in Johnson vs Vulture(1915).
