in all fairness I get what he means by ice cream cake just being a block of icecream because in Australia, all i know of an icecream cake is those freddo frog birthday ice cream cakes and those are just blocks of colourful icecream shaped like a cake.

Sure the eating experience is cool, but literally any time you want another slice you gotta let it sit out and defrost all over again. But for a party where you finish it all in one go that's not a problem🤔 On the other hand you could keep cake at room temp, and put an ice cream scoop in heated water to serve frozen ice cream pretty quick.
I get Wilson. Not an American, Canadian, or Australian, but ice cream cake in my country is made of full ice with specially mixed flavors, and sometimes fruits, but without real cake involved. And that should be keeps in freezer. Delicious.
