  • After taking notes from the feedback from my first video, beginners guide to wrapping tumble stones • Beginners guide to wir... , I decided to do a re-make trying to fix the problems from the first video. To get the best results watch the original video also to see me wrap a variety of odd shaped stones. When I first started wire wrapping, I didn't have a big budget and could not afford cut cabochons, all I could afford were tumbled stones which come in all sorts of odd shapes. I could not find a tutorial that suited me for wrapping weird shaped stones so I had to teach myself. Since then, I kept seeing posts in wire wrapping groups showing pictures of irregular stones with people asking for advice on how to go about wrapping them, so I decided to have a go at making a tutorial, at the time I had no idea how to film or edit but I tried and a lot of people found it helpful, but it also had problems, the music was too loud, wobbly camera work etc. I hope this video is an improvement on the first

Watched several times. I can do it! However, I cannot find another one of your videos that shows how to make the bail for the chain? Help!

Hello thank you for viewing 😁 I have a few follow ups to this video showing different designs for turning the basic wrap into a pendant from basic to something a bit more advanced

I watched your first tutorial and now this one and liked them both. The second one shows improvement on the video part of it so im thinking like wire wrapping doing videos the skills improve the more you do it and i thought both were amazing and very helpful.I really liked the closeup pictures of the weave it helped a lot. As i watched both i had 1 question kept coming to mind. Does the thickness of the stone somewhat dictate how many wires are used or is that just personal preference to the design. Thank you for the videos and the time you put into them.

Thank you so much for your comment, yes, making videos is just like wire wrapping and any other skill, you make mistakes and with practice you learn from those mistakes (and then make more mistakes to learn from). To answer your question, the shape and size of the stone dose tend to dictate how many wires I use, for example the 4 wire wrap I demonstrated, the stone was flat at the back so I only needed the one wire to secure the back of the pendant, whereas the front of the stone stuck out quite a bit so I decided to use 2 wires to secure the front of the stone. At the end of the video I showed a bulky green goldstone that I used seven wires to secure, this is because the sides of the stone were also quite deep and the wires have a limit to how far they will bend over the stone (also it looks kind of cool). I hope this answers your question. Happy wrapping 😁

What gauge is the wire you are weaving with?

@@susanschleppenbach3545 thank you for viewing, the weaving wire I am using is 30 gauge but you can use 26 or 28 if you prefer a slightly thicker wire.
