I am glad to see that someone would finally do a documentary on the Legendary Joseph Niles who is the patriarch of Gospel music in Barbados. I dedicated my Birthday, December 4, 2019, to Joseph Niles when I was told in a dream to spark alight. I did not quite understand it because as a child we would play the cassette tapes of Joseph Niles all day. I am 73 years old and living in this digital age when everything is digitized, I was hoping that someone would have done this. His songs are still feeding my spirit. I know the words of almost every song he sang. God gave Barbados this beautiful gift. I spent the month of December paying tribute to our ancestors and thanking God for these gifted men and women who came to bless us with their talents and ministry. Joseph Niles had a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing this documentary. I pray that there will be many more because he deserves to be honored. I am blessed to know that I sparked a light.
Again Chaddman thank you for the memories. For years I was wondering when someone would have put his work out for the world to see and hear. He touched lives and I know he will continue to touch many more because there are some old souls out there that still love his music and there will be more to come. Thanks again.
As a member of the band on that tour to new York in 1976,I can safely say that all members of the band returned home to Barbados on 10th November 1976 on the same flight, the members were late Joseph niles, late Peter Clarke, late Darnel straker, late kenrick Hoyte, malcolm best, Tyrone Farley and myself Dorlan Kirton
Joseph and you the whole band made great music i grew up listening to this gos in my birth place barbados leave the island at 23 yes live in ohio and have kids grandkids still listen my husband love Joseph music he pass away in October 2022 love this band was great and the leader
I am truly blessed whenever I listen to this brother's voice. God has truly blessed him with a heavenly voice. God bless Joseph Niles and all my fellow brothers and sisters in christ.
That song he sang called I have to "Live Your Religion", at this time religion can be of any kind, I believe he should of sang live for the Lord everyday, of course this is what I think
Notorious church people always telling the servant of the Lord to do what they want you to do and how you should do it instead of what God calls you to do.
He was the (Bajan) Sparrow of religious music. He used to be on CBC a lot but I had no recollection of his looks. I couldn't look at him and say, "Joseph Niles!" The headline is what said it. I could only recall he was big and national. And most likely, a first. Look how life goes round in circles. You never know what will circle back to you, very unsurprisingly.
Chaddman, this documentary now saved my life. Thanks for posting bro.
Glad I could help bro. Trying to get more of the older gospel content as well as some other content as well.
