After viewing your video, I ordered a new DENSO MAF Sensor from eBay. Installed the new sensor and my Error Code P0171 was gone. Thank you and UTube for sharing the solution to my 2002 RX300 Error Code P0171. Best Wishes, EJ Dossary, EE

I have experienced the same Error Code P0171 on my 2002 RX300. I will try to clean the Air Flow sensor in the hope that it will cure my Error Code P0171 fault. Thanks for the Video U Tube!!

I have a 2000 RX 300 having same issue. Did the problem go away after cleaning the air flow?

Without trying out everything else first, not a great idea to open or clean the MAF sensor. Even touching it with the fingers can mess up a perfectly working MAF sensor.
I would first get the long term fuel trims for both sensors.
If both are high, then it is most likely unmetered air entering the intake manifold that the MAF sensor does not know about such as something in the air induction system such as air leaking in to the air duct hose or incorrectly installed throttle body gasket or break in the vacuum line somewhere.
If only 1 is high, it is in that bank that needs to be traced.
The MAF sensor does occasionally fail on Toyotas and Lexus, but that's mostly owing to dirt going into it such as from a missing or dirty air filter. Many MAF sensors are needlessly replaced at high cost to try to fix P0171 when the problem is somewhere else in the air induction system or an issue with bank1.

@@miket5947My cars are 15-25 years old and never opened or cleaned the MAF.

@@miket5947 Saying that it may not be the MAF sensor. You have to measure values using an OBD2 sensor. You can buy it for $5.
With the car fully warmed up and idle, correct values are: LTFT & STFT for bank 1 and 2 (all should be below 5%) , Coolant Temperature (above 180), RPM (about 700), Timing Advance (about 20) & MAF value (about 3.0)
If you post your numbers, someone can help you diagnose further.

For Error Code P0171 on my 2002 RX300, I replaced the MAF sensor, Air Filter, and PCV but I still have the Error Code P01171. I think my problem in faulty B1 injectors !! Thanks for Video. EJ Dossary, EE

Unfortunately, parts replacement doesn't work. You have to diagnose fully. You can purchase a $5 OBD code reader and use your phone to read the computer values.
