how are things holding up; it's a few years later, do you still have the van? is the fan still working?

I like your wood countertop. What did you use?

    Nicely done!
I drive Eurovan 1997 and wonder how you have done the flat solar panel from top to the connection to the battery case area?

Yeah, we meant to film it when we changed the solar set up, but honestly forgot. There is space between the body of the van and the plastic interior along the far right back side of the van. You have to drill a hole on through the top (scariest part), but you can feed the wires through the rest of the way to the battery box. Same path as the electrical wires for the pop.

Revisiting this DIY now myself with 11’ Chinese fan now.
As to solar cable installation, I gave up drilling holes, instead, let the cables run on roof all the way to the back where induced it down to the bottom under the bumper where pre-made wire entry is.

Could you provide info about the specific fan you installed? How much energy does it consume from your house battery, e.g. can you run it along with powering your electronics through the night alright or do you really need to restrict the fan use? I have a similar setup (2 100 watt panels run to a single house battery, but may switch to gel and try to double my storage once the present house battery needs to be replaced). Are you a VW Vortex member?

Hi Dawn! Nope, we aren't on VW Vortex, but we are active on the VW Eurovan Campers Facebook group! As far as the questions you asked... I just went out to the garage and got some numbers for you. Check out the video description for all the details, I added all the info there! Bottom line is that you can absolutely run the fan overnight plus all other electronics without a problem!! I hope the video is helpful to you :)
