- I’ve had many wonderful solo opportunities over the course of my over 50 years (gulp) in the entertainment business ,but one stands out as my personal favorite. Nothing can beat the thrill of getting to play the part of an iconic character from a cartoon strip that I loved (was infatuated with actually) as a child. I first discovered this strip in the waiting area of my piano teacher when I was 8 years old. She had "Peanuts" paperbacks on a small table. I picked one up and was mesmerized by the incredible genius of Mr. Charles Schultz. From that moment on, I had to have EVERYTHING Peanuts. Pajamas, coloring books, sleeping bag, pillows, dolls. I could read his books for hours, over and over. And don't get me started on my love of the Great Pumpkin!
So when I auditioned and then was offered the role of Snoopy in the animated version of the stage play "Snoopy The Musical", I was ecstatic. It premiered on this day in 1988. Other projects as Snoopy would follow over the course of the next couple of years. Having been able to work for an extended period of time with Lee Mendelson, the man responsible for getting "It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on the air, was a career high; a thrilling experience all the way around. I thought I had died and gone to doggy heaven...

@Mitch Fletcher I don't mean to be rude, but I can't fine and proof that Cam Clarke voiced He-Man. He-Man was voiced by John Erwin, Garry Chalk, and Doug Parker.
@@vampire_bunnies You only saw the shows from the 80s and 90s. Did you watch the 2002 series? He's in that one.

I use to watch this all the time on VHS as a kid, thank you Cam Clarke fro helping me re-live those memories!!
I remember renting this VHS from the library. Ever since then, I can’t read a peanuts comic without hearing Clarke’s voice.
It's kind a mind blowin the fact that, same guy has provide his voice to Dogtanian, Ricordon, He-Man, Leonardo, and Snoopy, and all of those characters have been part of my childhood. This might explain why I started to do voice acting and directing voice acting. To me is just a hobby, but I enjoying it.

As a kid, this was my favorite special. I rewatched it so often that the tape warped. 💖💖💖 I hope it gets a nice local Blu-ray release someday!

Woah, I surprised you voiced Snoopy. I didn't know Snoopy could talk in the first place....Either way, I think you did a great job voicing him and you're incredible.
Yeah, that is a really great voice, well mind's voice, for a really cute character who many generations have loved and still love. A character I will always love, that's for sure. Also, catchy music/singing makes cute cartoon characters even more endearing. Yours was a perfect voice for him and this musical number no doubt.

I love Snoopy and I was so young when I saw this. I didn't even know Snoopy could speak! I loved loved loved Snoopy's voice - so cute! And to find out that Snoopy's voice actor, Cam Clarke also voiced one of my favorite characters Max Sterling in Robotech the Macross Saga almost made me cry happy tears! Bless you Cam for making Snoopy so real for me. Snoopy forever!

@@hoss3301 I agree. Technology has changed the mindsets of children and adults. The key is to deal with this ever changing modern world using moderation as a focus instead of excess...kind of easier said than done since things have gone so far along. People think giving up their phones is like giving up electricity. I grew up just fine without having a phone with me 100% of the time, but I did welcome them as being very useful in emergencies and to check on people while traveling...and that's the crux as to how cell phones were marketed. I wish the idea of moderation would work so that young people could venture more into real life instead of artificial life...our social skills kind of depend on face-to-face interactions while yet these modern times require a great depth of ability at wrangling technology. We have a social "catch 22"...damned if we do and damned if we don't. The future will pour down even more advancing techno gadgetry...and so it goes...and of course the almighty dollar plays heavy on the whole matter. Technology has become big time commerce. In the meantime those of us who can recall simpler times will swoon in our sweet nostalgia from time to time and tell the young people what life was once like...and wasn't it all once so very nice?!

Wow, I grew up with this and I didn't even put two and two together! One of my favorite voice actors playing one of my favorite parts!
Oh God...this is just incredibly far out!!! I never knew you did this! Well. All I can say is that you brought new life to Snoopy in this animation and filled him with an inner spirit I think we all knew was just waiting to hit the stage and to be seen and loved. ...I do seem to recall as a kid when watching the 60s deliveries of Charlie Brown specials on TV that a rather famous actress Pamelyn Ferdin played the voice role of Lucy, and from last reports in my neck of the woods she went onto to become a social activist and a very fine person. ...But, there you are again Cam Clarke using your talent to bring a depth of soul and humanity to another animated character which wouldn't be the same without you. ...All of us in viewerland applaud and enjoy your wonderful and entertaining and fun offerings. You truly are a credit, and of course a versatile talent, to your profession and the entertainment industry. ...Keep on keeping on!!!

Gee I heard you do a few voices before like Freddy the Ferret in the Barnyard series, Simba (whether it's speaking or singing) in the Lion King franchise. But I never thought I'd hear you do a speaking Snoopy voice. That must've been quite an opprotunity you had in your early career.

Cam Clarke is known for the anime Dogtanian and the three Muskehounds provided speaking and singing voice for Snoopy

To me, this Peanuts special is a guilty pleasure and a second-rate episode. Considering that this only made it's way on 📼 VHS and not 📀 DVD. In fact, Vulture called it one of the worst Peanuts Specials.

Snoopy is reminiscent of Garfield.
Not to disregard your work, it's amazing, but, honestly, the first time I watched it, I thougth Snoppy sounded a lot more like David Tennant, especially when singing. Wish either he or you could voice him nowadays, as an interesting alternative to him being mute as tradition dictates. It would be something cool to hear you recitate some voice overs from the very early comic strips with said strips in a video slideshow presentation.
I have to be honest but I liked Robert Towers Snoopy more.
