He has one of the best voices of any decade in Australian music history, and, he's a genuinely nice bloke with a big, kind heart. This is my favourite Dazza song.
When working as a cook in catering he was hired for a gig on a boat and got to meet him and feed him and I can tell you he was a pompous rude pr**k ... I got to meet many other artists who were just lovely.... Daryl was the ONLY one I despised with good reason...
Dazzer has a great voice & has been around since the '70's in Australia, firstly with Sherbert then had a rough time for several years before getting back in the charts with several hits including this.
Oh, you guys - this is an iconic representation of Australian beachside Summers... I started teaching my son to surf when he was six - he had already been skateboarding for three years - just threw out all the opportunities I could, so he could decide what he enjoyed most, after giving it a good go - we were also lucky to only be 2.5 hours from the snowfields... This song's vibe is up there with the brightness of 'Steal My Sunshine'... Daryl came to the Bega Valley with his band, Hush - I was tiny - and then to Tathra when this song was huge in Australia where we went to see him one Summer.
Hi. To answer your question …. Yes we have Jeeps here in Australia. Our go to Aussie car would have once been a Holden Commodore or Ford Falcon, especially a Ute (car based utility) and in the 70’s probably a panel van…. Sadly Australia doesn’t build cars now…. We have a lot of different brands available to choose from. We have a family of 4 drivers and we all have vehicles of different brands. Happy early new year, and thanks to Crankin Surf for the trip down memory lane.
Another great reaction. Thank you. This song always reminds me of my childhood, growing up in Oz. Bare feet, sandy hair, sunburn, fun summer days at the beach. Wish I had a time machine. 😊
Absolute favourite! the memories of my endless summer holidays growing up as a kid in Australia and still is as an adult, it’s just the best life here the beaches are endless and stunning each one different to the next. 😊🇦🇺
Daryl is one of Australia’s greatest voices. He’s certainly a national treasure and certainly underrated amongst the many amazing home grown singers down under. Could have easily fronted any classic rock band.
I love summer, I love Daryl, I love music series.... and I love Crankin Surf. There, I said it! Happy summer holidays all! (and for those of you living in mid winter.... summer is just a few months away... lol).
I was 7 when my dad & uncle taught me how to surf in Victoria Australia at Cape Paterson. They then made my first board for me and I've surfed my whole life since. 40 yrs of surfing so far and i still have that very first board they made in the garage.
That song and video brought back memories of my childhood growing up in Australia (the best country in the world). Have always loved Daryl’s voice, his time in Sherbet and then when he went solo. Can’t wait till you react to “the Horses”. ❤️
You've stumbled upon an Aussie legend, Daryl braithwaite is up there will farnesy & barnesy.. This is one of my favourite DB songs, check out his many other songs "HORSES", "as days go by", Howzat when he was with "Sherbert" in the 70s.... So many more hits!!! Love your reaction as always!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺❤❤🥰🥰
I totally agree with all of magpie_girl73 comments about Daryl Braithwaite. The song "HORSES" is another Aussie anthem song, we have so many Aussie anthem songs from so many Aussie artist.
True story The guitar he was playing had some sentimental value to him and after filming stopped he accidentally left it behind in the porch I’m not sure if it has been returned to him at all Great man I have him on Facebook
The guitarist in the red t- shirt is chuck Hargraves ..l was his lighting technician for 3 years but another band ..from Melbourne ..chuck grew up in the country near the town Wangaratta Victoria Australia...l grew up in the Victoria country too ...we were good freinds back in the eighties .. one year we done more than 365 shows some days 2 even 3 gigs a day.
Thanks Crankin Surf for this request mate, love our Darryl and as a renowned LEGEND he deserves the audience he is now getting here, he has earned it multiple times over. I do hope the next pick will be The Horses as that is my all time favourite from our DB. Keep Safe Keep Strong and Hope 2023 is huge for both of you. 🦘🦘🦘🦘🎇🎇🎇🎇✨✨✨✨
Our summer was a little late this year...however after 4 days of very hot and humid weather here in Sydney...We are ready for the beaches and the surf....Love your choices from Darryl Braithwaite...such happy memories and he is still rocking it out today....Amazing voice.

I started off with body surfing as toddler then got my first surf board at the age of 6 . Growing up across the road from a surf beach that’s really all we did in summer 🏄♀️
I never surfed myself, my bro bought a board and tried, i was told he should have tried on a "Mal," or malibu long board first, and the cool short board he got wasn't enough of a plank to hold his weight out of the water. If the board can't stay on top of the water with you on it, it never will surf. In australia, the kids who are starting out or trying to get good are called Grommets, the people who are always hanging around behind the break, waiting for a wave, with both legs dangling one each side of the board, are called Jiggler, Danglers. There was a tea commercial for Lipton tea, and the tea bag strings were called jiggler danglers, so it got adopted forr other things.
An instant classic for sure. Not exaggerated, the filmclip is exactly what Aussie summers look like. Yeah, beginning on shortboards (particularly those anemic 90s shortboards) probably wasted a generation of potential surfers. Started Surfing as a teen, but you never really get good only surfing in Perth's fickle conditions.
Since the vast majority of aussies live around the coastline of the country, water is in everyones blood. We all HAD to learn how to swim extremely young for safety's sake. Even those in rural area's are forced to learn to swim since they have massive giga litre dams to survive the hot arid and forest area's and have ample water on hand in case of bushfires. Sadly those dams do cost a number of lives each year. But surfing is a cherished past time for many aussies since the beaches mostly are straight off the ocean and have excellent waves for boards.
We have Jeeps, and convertibles, in a similar fashion but for a completely different reasons we only have half a dozen days when they are usable, the rest of the time the UV is too much and the sun and heat will scorch everything in the vehicle including you.
Jeep is not popular in Australia because they are so unreliable and have terrible customer service. You are more likely to see Land Cruiser and utes like HiLux etc. Jeep is all marketing and no substance.
Brings back great memories of my carefree days at the beach over Christmas Holidays.
Man the 80's and 90's were fun.
'The Horses' was his massive comeback hit. No-one at the time knew it was a cover.

Daryl's voice is phenomenal, can't wait till The Horses, which I assume is next!! Hopefully live! That song really demonstrates his vocals.
Edit: I thought they already did The Horses but did a search and can't find it ... it might have been a different reactor channel.
@@bonnielee78 I don't think we have seen the fourth song in the package yet! It has to be The Horses 😂
Dazzer has a great voice & has been around since the '70's in Australia, firstly with Sherbert then had a rough time for several years before getting back in the charts with several hits including this.
Darryl is considered a legend in Australia, just like John Farnham. The is perfect timing as it's Summer here 😊
Hahaha he is no way legend status like John! Omg can't even put them in same category!
John Farnham did backups to Daryl’s song As The Days Go By
He is nowhere near John Farnham status in terms of ability or hits.
Daryl has an amazing falsetto. Checkout his vocals on a song called Free The People when he was lead singer of Sherbet

John is legend Daryl is just a singer!
I submitted them
@@Ozzcaddy They couldn't do Horses, that's the missing song
My all-time favourite summer song in the whole f**king world 💕
Daryl Braithwaite in the middle, Chuck Hargreaves (in a red shirt) to the left, and John "Jak" Housden (in a yellow shirt) to the right.
True story
The guitar he was playing had some sentimental value to him and after filming stopped he accidentally left it behind in the porch
I’m not sure if it has been returned to him at all
Great man
I have him on Facebook
Love you guys and I love how much you live Aussie music. Cheers from Australia
I love your content by the way. Love social media. You tube is the best.
As the days go by is a great song.

From memories this around '88/89-ish?
Prior to this Daz was working on a road chain-gang after Sherbert had broken up. HUGE change of fortune!!
Hey guys 😊 I was lucky enough to meet Daryl years ago at a Bushfire appeal in Port Lincoln South Australia 😁 was the coolest ❤🤘
Kids on the coast often do "Nippers" which is the junior part of the lifesaving movement.
The singer actually wrote the bassline too. Being a bassist at the time , I was impressed.
Thanks Crankin Surf for this request mate, love our Darryl and as a renowned LEGEND he deserves the audience he is now getting here, he has earned it multiple times over. I do hope the next pick will be The Horses as that is my all time favourite from our DB.

Was great growing up in Australia on the coast in the 70s.
Great song. Captures the feel of the Torquay and Loren surf beaches in the 70s and 80s.
I love your willingness to explore and enjoy music of all genres. We love our Aussie vocalists. We have so many BRILLIANT ones ❤
Love you guys.. you are so much fun. Happy New Year to you both. Cheers! 🎉🎉
HAPPY.

Most of australia lives close to the beach. I grew up surfing all summer on my little zippy board.
you guys should listen to Daryl's 70's rock band called "Sherbert". They will blow your minds
Waited a long time for this one.
I started surfing at the age of about 9, west coast of Victoria Australia
I never surfed myself, my bro bought a board and tried, i was told he should have tried on a "Mal," or malibu long board first, and the cool short board he got wasn't enough of a plank to hold his weight out of the water. Check out his other great song (horses) 👍
Daryl - If You Walked Away, Old Sid, All I Do, You're My World
We got Jeeps in oz ...wrangler and others...l was thinking of getting one soon ...fluoro green
Good stuff Wolf Hunters .. you need to come visit us in the land down under .. you would love it here

I grew up in the bush, so never learnt to surf.... Australian Crawl next, I reckon....
Definitely. They were my favourite band in my twenties. My teen favourite was Skyhooks.
Still a classic live act!
If you listen carefully you’ll hear John Farnham on backing vocals singing the “one summer” part of the song!
This is the same guy Daryl that sang Howzat, in Sherbet. FYI.🎼🎵🎵
Still a great singer to the day you need to hear him sing Horses

One summer is about a book one summer it has a Liverpool connection
Aussie music is the best music
Just a bit of trivia if you were to visit one beach ⛱️ a day in Australia 🇦🇺 it would take you over 32years to see them all 😉
It’s so weird seeing this video. I’ve known the guitarist in the red shirt most of my life and went all through school with his son haha.
We have Jeeps, and convertibles, in a similar fashion but for a completely different reasons we only have half a dozen days when they are usable, the rest of the time the UV is too much and the sun and heat will scorch everything in the vehicle including you.
Welcome to a stock standard summer day back before mobile phones
Great voice. Up approaching John Farnham I reckon
Isn't it funny none of our Aussie favourites remain in Australia and only in Australia. What a shame.
🇦🇺😎 after mastering riding a kangaroo to school Surfing is a national pastime
thats his sons playing along
Hi Not sure how to request a song..

16 I started surfing. Yallingup at ten feet. Ha Ha. Wipeout spectacular.
I prefer Darryl's solo stuff compared to Sherbet. Great voice.
Daryl wrote this song

Daryl is getting on in life but his voice isn't.
He is still an awesome singer i saw him live about 10 years ago.
