Another great review!! BTW, if anyone is interested, STAR BRITE makes a fabric waterproofing spray for marine application. I've used it for tents and rain gear works great!!!! 303 also makes a fabric spray. Walmart regularly sells both brands for about $22. A month ago they had 303 on clearance for $5. I grabbed all 5 remaining. 😊
Good review my man. There's nothing wrong with getting something that's less expensive and having to do a little bit of work to it. 40 bucks, another 10 or $15 on seam sealer and some time and you probably have a usable tent. There were a lot of times I could not afford some of the more expensive equipment, so I made what I had work. Main thing I was out on the trail backpacking. Thanks again good vid
@Michigan Hiker glad you enjoyed it. I’ve found even with more expensive tents they leak. This is a good one in my opinion. Thanks for watching my friend!
Dude, last summer I bought 2 of them. They were like $32 each. Bought the green one and the brown one. I have yet to use them. But I have two other GONEX tents and they have been great. A 4 man some and the teepee. Both waterproof. The dome I paid $40 and the teepee hot tent $32
@Campman’s Outdoors I had the teepee hot tent and it did great in the water torture test. I had high hopes for this one. It stayed setup in rain last night too and had puddles in it from the rain. The front definitely has issues unfortunately. Thanks for watching
That might be a first- water torture walking sticks! Happy Sunday! Looks like you found a 40 dollar Southern California tent! No need for seams to be sealed if it won’t rain for six months. Cheers.
@Harshman Hills I learned my lesson with trusting tents. Pomoly StoveHut 70 leaked like crazy on its first outing. Got it in the mail 30mins before leaving and was so excited for that tent. It was late November with 32F temperatures and we got poured on. Tent had massive puddles in it. The Spackmann Water Torture test was born the next weekend lol. Thanks for watching
Man, I really wanted to like this tent too. Fixable? Yes. Shouldn't have to though. Good stuff brother! And the chair I won from you, is STILL going strong. Lol!
@Floyd Lee Mullins II I still like this tent. I hear ya on the shouldn’t have to cause you shouldn’t lol. My chair is still going strong too! Works great. Thanks for watching bro
I use that V.I.P. Silicone Water-Guard Water Repellent from Walmart. Believe it or not it works really good. I do like that tent though. Lot of room and has that porch, that's nice!
@mushercdn the stool is from NatureHike. I’m sure you can find knock off of the stool on Amazon for cheaper, not sure how much it is from NH I bought it years ago. Thanks for watching
Ive always like baker tent set ups. The one I have is meant to attach to an ez up canopy but can be set up with a "ridge line" or just poles, unfortunately trekking poles arent tall enough =(.. This would be a real option if I were in the market for a new tent.. I'll put a link to this vdo in tonights vlog along with a shoutout.....
I have one of these tents and I am very happy with the quality, considering the price. Sure, it may need sealing, but don't most tents? There are even some videos out there showing how to mix up a bunch of seam sealer, for cheap. (I'm calling this tent "Great bang for the buck") I'd like the "awning" to be a little taller, but that's just a personal preference kind of thing. I'm big and tall and don't bend as well as I used to. I still like this tent!
@outdoor poormet I totally agree. I really like this tent. Heck a deal for $40. Also agree with the awning. If it didn’t have the side flaps you could pitch it higher which isn’t a bad idea. Thanks for watching
Bummer about the pole's battery compartments not being waterproof. That would have been a great light at camp during a rain storm at night. That tent looks like it would be great for a solo car/boondocking outing. Add a low cot to get you off the ground and give you some better sleep.
@Doc_Watson yeah the battery compartment is a bummer. Couple plastic bags would solve it but that’s not the point lol. I’ve used this tent with and without a cot. I always do prefer a cot. Just being a couple inches off the ground is better. Thanks for watching
I'm surprised the Gonex leaked so quickly. I have the Gonex hot tent, which I've used for a year now in all weather's and found it to be extremely waterproof. Must just be the bakertent design I guess.
@110 Adventures I agree. I was very surprised cause as you said their teepee hot tent did great! Passed my water test. This tent is still cool lol. Thanks for watching
That's not bad for 40 bucks. Cool little tent. With some sealer, you're still in a good tent for under 100$ Ok----where did you get the little fold-up stool? I may need one of those.🤠 Take it easy Chris!!!
@RkF lol stools a secret 🤫 lol. NatureHike makes them. For sure for $40 you can’t go wrong especially now we know where it leaks so fix that. Also I’ve used it a few times always in good weather and I’ve loved it so far, this doesn’t change that. Thanks for watching
@@AdventureswithSpackmann Sweet! Thanks! I've never used the "Baker" tent, but they sure are popular. You ever watch the channel called "Swedwoods"? Watching him was the first time I had ever seen one. no--No-NOOO!!! I'm not buying another tent!! Well, my birthday is coming up.😉 Catch ya later!!
@@rkf2746 no I haven’t seen him. The style is very popular and for good reason. ITS FREAKING COOL lol. I know none is need another tent. But everyone’s birthday is coming up eventually lmao.
@John Burgin no still only giving away on pair of them. Lol you think they will be back available once the price goes up? Probably. Have a good one too bro! Thanks for watching
Another awesome review bud. I do think it has a good chance to be an excellent tent. In my opinion for that kind of money it is worth spending a little extra to make sure it will be waterproof. Thank you for sharing with us. Oh and i was wondering just how waterproof the walking sticks are. That is not a deal breaker.
Whats up broski! a 40 dollar tent that blolws my mind!!! I would have to watch how to get it ready for heavy rain but that price there is no excuse for someone not to start camping!!! * Pointing at myself lol* If all goes right I am going to start the first weekend in May! Its going to be solo soo kinda nervous but figured I would pick a popular site where other people will be. When this tent is available I am totally buying one!
@Snarfimus nothing much, hope all is well with you. How have you been? Yeah it’s so cheap man. A little work and it should be good to go. Plus most people won’t go camping in the rain. Bro, I’m excited for you! Get out there. Solo can be a little nerve racking and going to a popular site is a great idea. Thanks for watching
Almost bought one last fall but really don’t need another tent 🤣 like the idea of it and the pomoly one similar but haven’t gotten either. So far firehiking tent been a good choice
@Anthony’s Adventures I hear ya. Some expensive tents make you seam seal them yourself so for $40 I actually like this tent. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching
