Kenneth Clark, author of the BBC documentary Civilization, and his wife made a vow to visit either Chartres or the Parthenon each year of their marriage. We should all make a vow to visit Chartres at least once in our lives. Whether you go as a pilgrim or tourist, the experience is deeply rewarding.
Again a great video, I met travelers from all over the world to experience the wonders of the Cathedral. I arrived on August 15th coming from Jerusalem, I was unaware there would such large procession venerating Mother Mary and I attended the morning mass, which was 2nd to none on Assumption Day. The light was magnificent and the meditative labyrinth walk unfortunately was covered that day and hope one day I can return to Chartres again. Once again I love your videos, it keeps me so connected to my roots in France. Bless you both Les Frenchies.
Wow! The world heritage site Cathedral, the light shows, quaint shops and market. Chartres is simply spectacular! A great escape and short trip from Paris. Thank-you for sharing Colleen, Antoine and Laurent! 😊❤
🇫🇷❤️Colleen & Antoine what a beautiful Christmas gift to see you visit Chartres. Right next to Chartres is a great restaurant named Cafe Bleu, the food is delicious and the view of Chartres is divine. Joyeaux Noel!🎄
I have been to Chartres but what an experience it would have been with a guide. You have shown me things I never saw or knew about when I was there. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Really enjoyed your visit to Chartres Cathedral - fascinating getting that glimpse into its history. Wishing you a Great festive season and all the best for 2025. Thank you from Australia.
I’ve had a passing knowledge of the Chartres Cathedral through the years but had never done a “deep dive” to learn more; after today, that all changes! Merci Colleen, Antoine & Laurent for this enlightening video of the magnificent cathedral & lovely town. Joyeux Noël to you & your entire family!
43 ( yikes ! ) years ago my bicycle tour started in Chartres. I got there early and went into the cathedral and attached myself to a tour being led by Malcolm Miller. At the end he said that he had another tour in the afternoon. So I went to that. He started by asking if anyone had been to the morning tour or one yesterday. He then adapted the tour so there would be minimal repetition. At the end he said that it was prohibited to charge for his services but of course he could accept tips. I gave one but was ( and still am ) angry at those who didn’t compensate him for the wonderful tour.
As always, beautiful scenery, lots of information and wonderfully narrated by you both. The Church/Cathedral was stunning with the light show (and inside). Merci. Merry Christmas :)
You aimed that arrow and hit me, right in my heart. As if that wasn’t enough, you came right behind me and BONKED me in the head. Who hasn’t heard of Chartre? I NEVER understood the Labyrinth and always wondered who would have the audacity to put something of Greek Mythology in a Cathedral in France. Certainly, I wanted to know more but there was no burning desire to see it outside of a historical perspective. Now? Oh dear. Something to long for until I die. I am going to ask for special permission to stop at Chartre and roam through it with my angel on my way to heaven. If one knows what they are looking at, they can read the entire New Testament by walking through a Cathedral. ESPECIALLY a Gothic Cathedral. Did your guide tell you why the two headed/two faced god was featured with the apostles on the facade? This WAS going to be a morning of TH-cam. I’ve got some reading to do! I’ll come back to TH-cam later. Thank you for a sample of the Cathedral. I agree, BTW, that one should visit a Cathedral with a guide to fully understand what is written EVERYWHERE inside the church! What an Amazing thing!!! Thank you for this visit!!!
Bonjour Antoine and Colleen. Magnificent tour of another gem not that far from Paris. San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio Texas has a similar but approximately different light show. Merci beaucoup 😊
Visiting the cathedral on Sunday morning, wondered what was happening . People filling the chairs. Two dozen altar servers, as many adults in robes, press in altar robes. It was a special Mass. Clouds of incense filled the air. It was emotional for someone raised as Catholic.
Quelques chose me dit que toi tu dois être un sacré spécialiste de l'architecture des cathédrales médiévales...De temps en temps tu devrais essayer qq chose. L'abstention de l'expression pour éviter le ridicule 😔.
Enjoy you both. Wonder, and depth of pleasure for the *New Year. (The phantom tigers knocked me out, as well the details and their context in this marvelous cathedral. Layered, resonant place). Best and appreciation- 😮🐯🕍🗼🎆🎄

Laurent goes above and beyond of his tours because of his passion for History! I learned so much in the tour I took around Le Marais with him!
We’re going to Chartres in February. Thank you so much for all of this great and useful information!

Merry Christmas!
Amazing video and tour. Although I was surprised the tour guide was allowed to use a laser pointer inside the cathedral.
That's gorgeous! The Virgin of the Pilar is the patron of Zaragoza in Aragón. They also change her clothes there.
Presque 300 000 abonnés, c'est dingue ça. Félicitations !

Joyeux Noël to you & your entire family!
Chartres Cathedral is a beautiful place and is certainly a must see.
11:45 gave vibes of Atelier des Lumières in Paris. But the cathedral itself is gorgeous!
So many wonderful towns a short train ride from Paris.
Wow, beautiful. 👍😁

You have to stop! My next trip to Paris will cost me an arm and a leg and I won't have time for all your amazing suggestions. Love you guys! Merci!
C'est chez moi !!!
Thanks for another very interesting video.
I loved this video. You show us places I never even knew existed.. I love the Virgin Mary, so thank you for sharing this cathedral with us❤❤❤

That was ecstasy!

I have read that you can place the Rose Bowl inside this Cathedral it is so vast.
Hi totally off topic. But what private driver service would you recommend from cdg airport ? Thank you
Is the light show on in 2025? If so, do you know what dates? Thank you.
Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year!
Just curious: what kind of fat do they use in France to fry their fries? They always look delicious!
What is the tour guides business link.
But the towers don't match; ridiculous! 🤣
