In a bittersweet moment, I just sold several of my film cameras. I had 3 full manual Pentax SLRs, now I have one. I couldn't bear to part with my K1000. Now down to only 2 film cameras, the K1000 and a Canon Elan 7. Haven't shot film in years, but I keep thinking I should since I have several rolls sitting in my freezer. It's just so expensive to get developed - $7 at my local store for a develop only, no prints. I used to shoot quite a bit of Kodak film with the occasional roll of Fuji. With that said, I fell in love with a value film from Konica that we sold at the camera store when I worked there. It fits right between Kodak and Fuji in regards to color. Sadly, they got out of the photo/film business, but it's what I have in the freezer. My old boss actually offered me a 1 to 1 trade - I give him a roll of film, they develop one for me. Don't know that I'll take him up on it though.
@@craigpiferphotography yeah it is a bit expensive, it cost me almost $30 CDN to develop a 36 exposure roll, with prints and digitals and getting the negatives. I think the next roll I’ll just get the negatives and the digitals, then I can print individual photos if I want too. Thanks for watching! 📸😎
Recently I picked up Olympus OM40 (from the same era as FG) for $50, and the camera died after just one roll. Still have to find someone who'll fix it, if that's possible at all. So don't spend too much money on old cameras, course that's a gamble, every single time. However, at the same time, I picked up Olympus 35RC, a much older camera, with very limited electronics inside, also for $50, and that camera is still running strong.
If you shot modern Fuji 400 then it is the same as Kodak 400 ultramax, as Fuji has ceased making its own iso 400 film and now sells rebranded Kodak 400. Same for iso 200 film.
I saw a lot of photographers shotting film t hat's why I put new light Seals in my Pentax Spotamatic SP11 I bought for the Takumar lenses the camera was kept in a drawer for a couple of years. When Pentax came out with the new Pentax 17 half frame camera I decided to try film in the Spotamatic and found the light Seals nerded replacing
@@JasonLorette ye, got 6 rolls of kodak gold and aerocolor outta lab a week ago the exposures are always on spot even with challenging lighting, the sunsets are beautiful with my old 300mm with 2x tc 🫠
Love my FG :) It gets overlooked a lot IMO
@@eliseshootsfilm me too, having a lot of fun with mine! Thanks for watching! 📸😎
