I just did this to my 2016 Chrysler 200 and it does work. I also found out that my cat is bad because when I removed the O2 sensor. The sensor nose was bent, that can only happen with something in the cat broke loose.

So now I figure it's the upstream which apparently is a real bear of the job. I ordered the new part but not the denso because I'm so cheap.. so now I'm about to take apart the wiper assembly to get at it from the top..
I have a 2006 Prius with the original catalytic convertor. Lately I get a check engine light that stays on for a couple of days and then off for a couple of days. Autozone said it was a P0420 code. Do you think with a simple cleaning, like you did here, of the downstream 02 sensor I might get lucky and not have to buy a new one?
I just clean mind with maf sensor cleaner n a wire brush it had carb build up on the sensor I scrub n spray it took me a lil wild to get it off...don't be scared just do it .if I wouldf damage the sensor I would got a code by now ....no sensor code yet ....

Wait so that code is for the 02 sensor not the catalytic converter ? I went to auto zone for the check engine code and he told me to get my catalytic convertor cleaned or replaced. Hopefully it’s only the 02 sensor that needs to be replaced . 🙏🏾
@simpliyvonne, Welcome to MY2DAYLIFE! There is a big possibility you can get away with replacing your 02 sensor or you can try cleaning up the carbon build up on the sensor, sometimes thats all you need. Unfortunately you can also have a bad catalytic converter but start with your O2 sensor. Its a lot cheaper to replace a sensor then to replace your catalytic converter. Best of luck! 👍

I personally haven't used them before but i think you could possibly get away with it, try only using one ramp on the passenger side to give you a little more room to get underneath.( Always double check that the car is nice sturdy before performing any job)! Good video, appreciate! My cat was stolen & replaced with a motorcycle like cat. Mechanic picked out on Amazon ($122.30) and replaced about 5 months ago along with the downstream O2 sensor, which is fine...but now the code P0420 upstream bank one O2 sensor is being recommended to replaced by Autozone after checking. My question with this head extender, lets say the check engine light doesn't pop, I have tags until 2025 but my concern is with the gas mileage...how much of hit does one take? I bought the Prius to get great gas mileage.

There is not much to be done to get rid of this code but to buy an original or install an adapter/spacer on the oxygen censor. Does anybody have a lower mpg? Since i have aded the spacer their is more smog and lower mpg. The engine code is gone.
