For me this is the single greatest moment in NASCAR history.
me2 man me 2. do it for dale
Where it’s Tragedy turned into triumph
Either way you think about it it’s awesome. Whether he passed them all out of skill or they lowkey let him pass without taking credit or witnessing it so he could have this moment… either way it’s awesome
That man was the most underrated wheel man in history.
the greatest moment in sports history, nothing will compare
I was here people. I seen grown men total strangers to each other yelling, hugging, crying and holding one another in the crowd. This was a healing moment I will never forget.
Steve Hmiel said it best with that one line. "We can celebrate!"
Everyone might have felt some relief with Kevin's win, but Dale Jr closing the book on that dark day with a win this night, everyone knew it was ok to go on and have fun, if only for a short time until September where Jr would help once more at Dover. Story book stuff that Hollywood couldn't write.
I remember when I saw Michael Walltrip get behind Dale Jr and I was on my feet screaming because i knew Michael wouldn't pass him even if he could. This was the best moment in NASCAR.
Michael knew he needs to block and make sure it was jr who won
One of the greatest moments in the history of Motorsports.
I literally still tear up whenever i see this
Nah one of if not the greatest moment in sports history
I could watch this 1 million times and still get emotional every time.
This 😭💔
God, if you didn't bubble a bit then you've got a heart of stone.
Never actually noticed the first person to the racecar was Chocolate. Pretty special moment👍
I'm not a man of many words, but in this moment the wide world of racing had come full circle. It reminded me of why I enjoy racing so much. It's like a spirit that lives in our hearts, it can't be suppressed.
Not all heros wear capes, some of them chug Budweiser after driving 200 MPH for 3 hours.
And everyone was a fan that night, enjoying, celebrating.. and then the grief was gone.
Happy faces had returned yet again.
I was in Kuwait watching the Daytona 500 the day Dale Sr. lost his life, very sad. Then to return later in the season and watch his son win the very next race at Daytona. My buddies and I were on pins and needles the last few laps, it was absolutely amazing!!
As fans we needed this just as much. I dont know any nascar fan at that time that wasnt in tears after that race. I was a Rusty fan and couldnt tell you what he even did throughout the race because like everyone, I was all in on Jr. that night. All of nascar needed that night. Fans, Drivers, Owners, Crews, sponsors, everyone.
That's my Favorite Sporting Moment of All Time in Any Sport!
2001 was A Difficult Year all round
I was at this race as a casual race goer at the time. It was this night that made me the die hard NASCAR fan that I am today. The electricity in this place after his win could power a city. It was an amazing moment in sports history.
This is story book stuff man, what a race. What a moment. That’s the first time I’ve cried in years just now watching this. Such a special moment for everybody in NASCAR, fans and all!
it's always so weird to hear Junior talk about his Dad, with a capital D. felt like we all took that loss personal but can't imagine what he went through
Gives me chills EVERY TIME
Junior and Mikey being such great buds makes me tear up every time.
🙌🏾🙌🏾
My favorite NASCAR memory!
I was there that night with my grandfather. I was screaming the whole time and I was so happy to see him cross that finish line in first. My grandfather passed away the next year, but I had that night with him and I treasure it, now over twenty years later. God bless Dale Earnhardt, Sr and Walt Middleton. I'll see you both in Heaven some day.
The definition of TEAMMATES
I'm not a huge NASCAR fan (I only learned about it three years ago), but that race really struck a cord for me after seeing the documentary "The Day." When Mikey jumped in for Junior, I said, "Oh my God, it's like Han Solo saving Luke in Star Wars!" Hollywood couldn't touch this moment.
love❤ you Dale you will always be my favorite NASCAR driver😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊and your daddy wood be so proud😊 of you🤗❤
I love this race as much as I love the #8 himself even more
I wish Dale jr. still raced
Age gets to you
I don’t want him to die so I’m okay with his retirement and racing short tracks every now and then. His head injuries were really stacking up.
@@CCSRacing1808It wasnt his age it was cause of injuries
Still to this day I still cry every time I see this race.
23 years later, this is still one of the most emotional wins in NASCAR history. I was born in 2004, but this still tears me up. 😢
Dale Senior became eternal, and Dale Junior became immortal both on the same night
Deep
I'm a lifelong Kulwicki fan but this outdoes the Hooters 500.
Not the only memorable win he had in 2001 he did it again at dover in September that same season
Never been a bigger or more meaningful win in nascar. Even big E’s win at Daytona takes a second place to his boy here
When Chocolate Myers was the first one to get to them got me he was my favorite person on Dale srs crew
Goosebumps
Waltrip's like I gotta get there for my bro, boss move
My wife thought I lost my mind because I was standing in front of television and screaming GO! GO! GO! Then she ask me if I was crying when the race was over and said "no, I got something in my eye". Yeah, I was crying.
Great moment 👏👏👏👏💯💯
Best ever
Nice win
"The man behind you did it"
I crying 😊
First guy to meet him was "chocolate "Meyers. Earnhardt Sr's team was a family!!
HI IM PARKER KILGERMAN
God this made me laugh my tears away. 😅😅
Greatest moment in NASCAR history, but let’s not pretend that Dale Earnhardt Junior had an upgrade in his car that no one else did. Even the announcers were stunned that while being in first place, he was running the fastest lap, which is unheard of
He did have an upgrade: The Intimidator sitting shotgun
He had SR sitting shotgun
Some people talkin bout how little E’s car may have been juiced up more than the other cars, but they need to go back and look at those laps of tony Stewart’s car … but he got black flagged
What is the name of this song?
Nightmare Blues by Westernauts
Name.of theme please
Dale Jr had an illegal car
Newsflash: no car that's ever won a cup race was legal. It's racing, everyone is cheating.
It had nothing to do with that when you have the GOAT riding shotgun nobody was beating him that night legal cars or not JR was winning
I’m a huge Junior fan, he’s my favorite driver of all time. But that car was cheated up.
NO IT WASNT
@@nascarfan8891 Yes it was but every car out there was cheated up. Every car that has ever shown speed at a racetrack hasn't been 100% legal
@@braydenfletcher8159it was because The GOAT was riding shotgun but that’s it
I’m still angry about because the sport was ruined pretty much after that season! Now it’s just spoiled rich kids and liberal politics! Pathetically Gross! Don’t ever plan on watching another race ! Rip Dale !
and of course Waltrip has to ruin the moment with a "hey look at me"
Are you a idiot
Waltrip never got his Daytona celebration
The reason they did that first off was cus Waltrip was literally teammates with dale. And not a single person didn’t at least feel for Micheal for not even getting to celebrate his first career win cus of Sr’s death
There’s always that one person
Michael deserved to celebrate too
He never could live up to his fathers image. Sad nascar had to script this. Get better jr
Ur an idiot
