I’ve said it before but if they absolutely have to get rid of some of the tracks I’m fine with the prototype versions. But origins decided to fix what isn’t broken and just made worse versions of them. Which is a shame cus I think I actually prefer prototype carnival night over the one in the original I’ve cap is… fine but the original wins there And launch base, man I love me some launch base and the prototype is pretty good too. But origins, man.
Back when this young boy as a sonic fan, the music was fine. Everybody agrees, carnival music is cool to change, but removing carnival for the other classic songs, hell no. Other than that, the new carnival music, sounds like the multiplayer stages on sonic 3. The multiplayer music from sonic 2 and sonic 3 was pretty dope too
Still love the original music from the Genesis days. I mean it's mostly personal for me. I love OG Ice Cap Zone because there is this feeling of melancholy but more fast-paced and OG Launch Base Zone has that urgent sort-of dread feel to it. But I got to say, I'm liking the new Carnival Zone music. The new Ice Cap Zone and Launch Base Zone music are good but does not quite capture the overall feeling for me.
I always thought that Launch Base was a deforested site plan with the launch base. It's like the Amazon forest nowadays, barren, cut down, and destroyed because of Eggman's ambition and greed. I now know that it's a canyon, but the idea still fits.
Ok, I'm just gonna state my opinion on these Sonic Origins, Prototype and Original/Final. Carnival Night Zone - The original/final sounds really groovy, nostalgic, and classy for a Carnival based zone. The prototype on both acts sounds really good, sounds banger, and sound so enjoyable, but act 2 syncs when you're going fast into those tubes thingy, the Origins act 1 sounds so horrible, sounds creepy, and sounds like you're in an abandoned carnival at night, but act 2 sounds the same as prototype, but the instrumentations sounds almost bad, except for arrangements of those instrumentals. Ice Cap Zone - Both acts on original/final sounds great, and sounds chilling, it's even more Nostalgic too if you ask many older sonic fans. Both acts on Prototype and Origins sounds more fitting for the zone, it even syncs when you grab the snowboard, no cap. Launch Base Zone - In original/final is actually feeling groovy, and also sounded good on both acts. In Prototype, act 1 sounds like you're marching with the soldiers in a marching band, act 2 sounds like you're almost going into the rocket ship, like astronauts. In Origins, act 1 feels like you're marching with dying soldiers after a soul crushing, mind twisting and traumatic battle against Vietnamese soldiers, only if they raised the pitch of those instrumentations, act 2 feels the same as prototype one. That's all for my opinions, if I was wrong, tell me in the replies.
I have a Question : Why did SEGA replace Michael Jackson's Music here and not in the Previous Sonic Cellections (And no S&K Collection doesn't count) ???????????????
Since Michael Jackson’s death the Jackson estate has become notoriously difficult to deal with. So it wasn’t much of an issue before Michael’s death. Which is why the last release of Sonic 3 was in 2011 before Origins came out.
If you want to get hyper sonic without super emeralds, follow my guide. First: up up down down up up up up (you will have sound test/level select) Next: go to sound test and put the code 4,1,2,6 twice, if you hear a chaos emreald and a continue sound effect you will have hyper sonic Last:go to any level you want on level select and find a special stage ring. Enjoy you blast as hyper sonic! (50 rings included) remember this is not sonic jam game cube or pc,this is sonic origins
I like the prototype tracks, but they just messed them up in origins. I would have liked better the original prototype tracks than the S&K Collection with that instrumentation
people give the origins tracks a bunch of hate but they THAT bad, they may not be as good as their previous versions but i feel like i still enjoy them
Wait, in which cutscene? I know that they used a portion of Mystic Cave when Tails was being bullied but I don't recall hearing OG Final Carnival Night.
They could at least add Carnival Night Zone act 1 ost from sonic 3 prototype but Sega REALLY fucked up the act 1 song and instead added the act 1 song from the PC version of Sonic & Knuckles collection, but the beat still drops like its decent..
The music in Sonic Origins is fine except Ice Cap, mostly because the MD version is awesome, but that wasn't composed by MJ himself. I still don't understand how can MJ's heirs or Brad Buxer claim money from songs that they agreed to make for a game from the 90s, because Sega owns the copyright, including the music. They agreed to cooperate with Sega back then, so how can they mess with this 30 years later? They are not even credited, are they? Also, it's interesting how Jun Senoue, one of the many involved in Sonic's music since the 90s, made by himself questionable adaptations for Sonic Origins and the soundtrack of Sonic Superstars, although Team Sonic Racing's music is great and he's the main composer. Perhaps more composers should work on Sonic? My favourite Sonic song is Angel Island Act 1, but Ice Cap (MD) Act 1 is my second.
Origins Carnival Night Act 2 is a banger. Tbh I always thought the MJ Act 2 tracks were a bit lazy, basically just the same as Act 1 while dropping random individual tracks in and out.
For context there is a song called hard times, and the composer for ice cap act 1's official audio on sonic3 restored said song, theres a whole lore video... link here: th-cam.com/video/ry2jo2lSjKk/w-d-xo.html
Launch Base 1 Prototype/Origins sounds like Pokémon music, like you're about to meet the Elite Four or something. It sounds very similar to an existing Pokémon tune.
These are on par with when they did Resident Evil Director's cut and the mansion basement music. Hopefully one day, they can update it for us to choose what BGM plays on these stages.
Just finished Sonic Origins plus with my brother. He’s played all the originals before and I have not. So I don’t have the same attachment to the original tracks as most do. (Not to say I’m not familar with the original music though) I think the new tracks are just fine. The only real issue I see with them is the muffled sound compared to their prototype versions. I think the main issue people have is the sudden tone shift compared to the original tracks. Which really leaves it down to personal preference. I heard all the hate for the OST before jumping into Origins, I’m glad I decided to see for myself before jumping on the hate train. It sounded like it’d be an unfinished half-baked mess- but It’s not bad. I understand not liking it, but I feel like the swarm of hate is undeserved. For me personally, I hated the original Carnival night zone lol I can understand the appeal, but I feel like the newer version is an upgrade. The original just gets on my nerves. As for Ice Cap, I found the original to be kind of annoying as well. (Completely personal, heard it one too many times on loop) But I can get behind the more serious feel to it. I understand why this was a hard one to let go of- it really is iconic. The new one is good. There’s just such a tone shift between the two it doesn’t really seem fair to compare them. Same sort of thing for Launch Base Zone. I love both versions. But the tones are so different. It’s like the new ones are a more light-hearted take on the adventure, while the original is more serious about it all. Idk. Really, this boils down to preference. Feel free to like whatever you like, but maybe be a little kinder to these newer versions haha
Hearing these tracks on loop because I was playing through them makes a lot of difference. I had the time to get used to them, they started to grow on me.
sorry for late reply, but honestly same. i don't see why people dislike the songs, they aren't as bad as people make it out to be sure they might dislike the fact the original or prototypes were removed in favor of the new ost of sonic origins but sonic origins does a ok job at replacing the ost, i'm not really that picky on music
carnival night, ice cap and launch base They were the best themes of Sonic 3, but I must admit listening to the new themes, it does not give a good impression, but in the game they are slightly catchy and engaging (exept for launch base) carnival night is less..... carnival night But cheerful, it is not so evil, ditto for Ice Cap, which goes from pure depression to pure joy (at first it would suck but if you get used to it it can also become more catchy than the new Carnival Night. The new launch base does not have the air of the final zone unfortunately so I would say that launch base has the least relevant theme among the three themes. (Then there are the alternative prototype themes that are even worse)
Ok after listening to this here is what I think; Personally I think that the prototype versions of the Carnival Night music is superior to the original as both themes are such a jam, meanwhile the MJ music for the rest is easily superior
@@hectorsuper That's nice to know but doesn't make me any more interested in buying Sonic Origins, especially when you can still play all of these games for free
With the amount of ways you can play this game in its original form (or with updated movesets and such) still keeping the music in tact, there’s very little reason for anyone to buy Origins.
The tracks for launch base are just too happy. You are litterally in eggmans makeshift HQ. I was expecting something like scrap brain or wing fortress.

Yeaaah if they was just gonna changed Ice cap then they shouldn't have made it so.... Happy... It's Made to be intense considering the location sonic is in..

I feel like they could have just put in the original protytpe tracks in and it would have been better. the original prototype tracks are actually really good.
Ica Cap zone forever my #1 Sonic theme. No way I'll play the zone without the original music.
I’ve said it before but if they absolutely have to get rid of some of the tracks I’m fine with the prototype versions.
But origins decided to fix what isn’t broken and just made worse versions of them. Which is a shame cus I think I actually prefer prototype carnival night over the one in the original
I’ve cap is… fine but the original wins there
And launch base, man I love me some launch base and the prototype is pretty good too. But origins, man.
Back when this young boy as a sonic fan, the music was fine. Everybody agrees, carnival music is cool to change, but removing carnival for the other classic songs, hell no.
Other than that, the new carnival music, sounds like the multiplayer stages on sonic 3.
The multiplayer music from sonic 2 and sonic 3 was pretty dope too
The new music for Origins just doesn't fit with the zones. The prototype music goes more in for style on what these zones represent
Yeah yeah, say that to the ones who loved ice cap zone theme.
@@KingHunter911 all prototype music other than ice cap and launch base
@@retrojamm07 respect for you.
@@KingHunter911 IceCap prototype theme is much superior over IceCap final theme in my opinion.
La canción del prototipo también es buena, pero nada se compara con la original.
All these songs feel like bonus level music, they need the originals back lol
sadly we can't have that because sega technically never owned the rights to those songs
I have a Question :
Why did SEGA replace Michael Jackson's Music here and not in the Previous Sonic Cellections (And no S&K Collection doesn't count) ???????????????
probably ongoing legal disputes with MJ's estate.
Since Michael Jackson’s death the Jackson estate has become notoriously difficult to deal with. So it wasn’t much of an issue before Michael’s death. Which is why the last release of Sonic 3 was in 2011 before Origins came out.
MJ's estate being difficult to deal with.
Or could possibly be because of "Leaving Neverland" reigniting the MJ child abuse claims
Yeah probably Michael Jackson's estate wanting more money from Sega than they want togpay for the license.
Launch base:🙂
Carnival night:😅
Ice cap:😶
If you want to get hyper sonic without super emeralds, follow my guide.
First: up up down down up up up up
(you will have sound test/level select)
Next: go to sound test and put the code 4,1,2,6 twice, if you hear a chaos emreald and a continue sound effect you will have hyper sonic
Last:go to any level you want on level select and find a special stage ring.
Enjoy you blast as hyper sonic! (50 rings included) remember this is not sonic jam game cube or pc,this is sonic origins
I like the prototype tracks, but they just messed them up in origins. I would have liked better the original prototype tracks than the S&K Collection with that instrumentation
WTF ?! Prototype versions would have been more acceptable than the one remastered ?!?!
Of course Michael’s are the best and iconics.
Ice Cap Zone Act 1 from Origins is like if someone said "SOMEONE HELPPPP I'M BEGGING YOU"
I prefer MJ's version of Ice Cap,but in my opinion, the prototype version of Carnival Night is nice, but I like MJ's version of Launch Base.
How to play Sonic Origins:
When you arrive to Ice Cap, Silence the music in the settings, and with your cellphone put in youtube the original Ice Cap
Or... Download the original Ice Cap song in your phone
Or mod the game if you're on PC
Why would Jun choose the MIDI tracks of all tracks? Was the Genesis to good for him?
people give the origins tracks a bunch of hate but they THAT bad, they may not be as good as their previous versions but i feel like i still enjoy them
Mj and prototype are the best ❤️❤️❤️
They also used the prototype music on Sonic and Knuckles Collection for PC.
The only mine I can stand is carnival night zone. It no longer feels like it’s laughing at me lmao
Ice cap zone is not the same without its original music.
(I prefer Ice cap zone act 2 over 1.)
Si, no es lo mismo sin su canción original.
In my opinion, MJ music is more fitting.
true
they should have just used the prototype music :/ the prototype versions sound way better then origins

Imagine, they refused to sort out the copyright details for using the original soundtrack as an option for Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Sad
Wait, in which cutscene?
I know that they used a portion of Mystic Cave when Tails was being bullied but I don't recall hearing OG Final Carnival Night.
@@philiplonidier I'll get back to you in a moment, I forgot what I was talking about since it was 9 months ago, but I'll be back 👍
@@philiplonidier yeah, I think I messed up... I was thinking about the wrong song.
"Tails, you're screwing up the lift timing! You can FLY, remember???"
Origins Carnival Night Act 2 is a banger.
Tbh I always thought the MJ Act 2 tracks were a bit lazy, basically just the same as Act 1 while dropping random individual tracks in and out.
No more lazy than the first & second Sonic games.
8:01 Look how the massacred my boy!
I wish on icecap act 1 they didn't return to prototype for origins, I find having the soundtrack sound like hard times is great!
For context there is a song called hard times, and the composer for ice cap act 1's official audio on sonic3 restored said song, theres a whole lore video... link here: th-cam.com/video/ry2jo2lSjKk/w-d-xo.html
Original ice cap act 2 music's makes me happy
i love both launch base act 2's BOTH original and proto music!
Man the original carnival night zone is a jam. I have a hard time hating ice cap and launch base isn’t bad.
Launch Base 1 Prototype/Origins sounds like Pokémon music, like you're about to meet the Elite Four or something. It sounds very similar to an existing Pokémon tune.
That must be the reason for it sucking ass
if we had mastered realm's reamsters we would have so much less controversy
These are on par with when they did Resident Evil Director's cut and the mansion basement music. Hopefully one day, they can update it for us to choose what BGM plays on these stages.
Uh, hello! The prototypes ARE the originals!
Just finished Sonic Origins plus with my brother. He’s played all the originals before and I have not. So I don’t have the same attachment to the original tracks as most do. (Not to say I’m not familar with the original music though)
I think the new tracks are just fine.
I had the time to get used to them, they started to grow on me.
sorry for late reply, but honestly same.
i don't see why people dislike the songs, they aren't as bad as people make it out to be
sure they might dislike the fact the original or prototypes were removed in favor of the new ost of sonic origins but sonic origins does a ok job at replacing the ost, i'm not really that picky on music
carnival night, ice cap and launch base They were the best themes of Sonic 3, but I must admit listening to the new themes, it does not give a good impression, but in the game they are slightly catchy and engaging (exept for launch base)
carnival night is less..... carnival night
But cheerful, it is not so evil, ditto for Ice Cap, which goes from pure depression to pure joy (at first it would suck but if you get used to it it can also become more catchy than the new Carnival Night.
The new launch base does not have the air of the final zone unfortunately so I would say that launch base has the least relevant theme among the three themes.
(Then there are the alternative prototype themes that are even worse)
I like the origins music
I'll always love the original more
That was awesome
Ok after listening to this here is what I think; Personally I think that the prototype versions of the Carnival Night music is superior to the original as both themes are such a jam, meanwhile the MJ music for the rest is easily superior
the mod sonic origins restores Michael Jackson o protoype 1993 (normalitas)
@@hectorsuper That's nice to know but doesn't make me any more interested in buying Sonic Origins, especially when you can still play all of these games for free

With the amount of ways you can play this game in its original form (or with updated movesets and such) still keeping the music in tact, there’s very little reason for anyone to buy Origins.

how the hell is wing fortress less happier sounding than the launch base tracks
The New Ice Cap doesn’t sound so bad. It still has that Arctic Theme to it but, it just doesn’t feel right.

I swear, sonic orgins carnival night sounds like praise and worship music for clowns 🤡
Ice cap zone proto(origin) is like mushroom hill BGM.
11:12 It sounds like that from the middle onwards.
I prefer the prototype soundtracks. Especially for Carnival Night.
I'm not even mad they used they prototype musics, I'm pissed that they made the original games unaccessible. Right before Origins released i couldn't find the Sonic's Genesis collection on Steam. Why would they do this?
carnival night and ice cap aren't bad, just dissapointing
but launch base...
Launch base sounds like graduation music at the start lol
Music licensing sucks. Why do people still defend copyright again? Time and time again, we've seen it get weaponized and misused and we've seen the long term damage it's causing. It was supposed to protect artists, but not anymore in the eyes of greedy corporations.
Sonic 3 air
The launch base is actually better! But ice cap... you can feel pain 😢
Proto carnival night is definitely my favorite of them, but sonic origins did it so dirty. The other 2 songs had a few incorrect soundfonts, and at times you could barely tell the difference, especially in icecap, but GOD is origins carnival night bad.
Icecap and Launch Base are fine to me but carnival night, NO IT MADE MY EARS BLEED THE FIRST TIME I LISTENED TO IT
Hard times hard times gone by🥹🥹
Yeaaah if they was just gonna changed Ice cap then they shouldn't have made it so.... Happy... It's Made to be intense considering the location sonic is in..
Many people talk about Ice Cap's music but in my opinion they butchered Carnival Night Act 2 the most in origins, in some parts it sounds like music from Sonic Jam for the game com and the worst part is that the prototype version sounds great, I'd even argue that it sounds better than the Michael Jackson version
There’s going to be and update soon to fix this soundtrack in sonic 3
I don’t know why I put an origins version sounds better than the prototype version
5:13 i swear bro, they made the prototype version of carnival night act 2 sound less energetic than the original sonic 3 prototype
In my personal opinion:
Carnival Night is the only one I preferred the new version than original, sounds really good to me
10/10
Launch Base new version is really good, but I still prefer the original
8/10
But Ice Cap...
It's not bad, but compared to the original, it's not even close, the original is infinitely better
3/10
Act 1 of launch base, I think the prototype is better because it sounds like the music played during takeoff in cartoons.
One thing is that the ice cap proto and the origins one are the same, but the origins is remastered
I think.
