- In this painting lesson I show you how I use squirrel mop brushes to create loose, impressionistic watercolour skies, similar in style to Edward Wesson.

So nice. Starts off so simply, then soon evokes all the possibilities of the clouds, grasses, sand, waves and real folk.
Thank you so much
Wonderful…such a great teacher. So often artists just rip through their work for us forgetting we haven’t a clue…you are the best, C❣️
Thanks so much, Barb. I do try to make my lessons easy to understand, that’s a really lovely comment. Thanks again 😊
Make it look so much easier thx Christopher and this is from South Africa!!!
Thanks so much, Helene. And thank you for watching
Thank you for this! I’ve learned so much!
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching
Relaxing to watch.
Thank you so much
Brilliant. Thank you so much. 🥰
You’re welcome! Glad you like it 😊
I liked this exercise even if the final result is far from equaling that of Mr. Christopher but I was won over by the sky and the characters who give life to this whole. A big thank you to the artist.
Thank you so much !!
Another superb demo, Christopher. Your gentle, subtle approach to this type of landscape gives it such a beautiful finish. The way you did the figures was very cool indeed.
Your style in this painting, reminds me of Edward Wesson.
Thank you Mark, much appreciated.
Nice as allways. Good company for a late saturday breakfast. Thank you❤
Thanks Catharina. Have a nice weekend 😊

Loved watching. Have several mops but don’t use them much. Thanks Chris.
Thanks, Arlene. I love using mops, especially for skies, as I said in the video. They’re great brushes !!

the old favorite paper ????
I used Meeden cotton paper for this one. There is a link and 10% discount code in the video description, if you’re interested
Your brushes will be ruined if you leave them sitting in your water jar.. esp the kolinsky that is an expensive brush!
Thanks for your concern, but this painting only took 15 minutes. As soon as I was finished, I cleaned the brushes, re-shaped them and laid them flat.
😢how did you get the grey volour
I mix my own greys, usually with leftover paint on the palette.
Hi Christopher! Nice tutorial, thank you! But can I give one suggestion? Please, PLEASE do not use music, although very nice and supposedly "soothing", but absolutely unnecessary and distracting. Do we really need to sugar-coat the reality nowadays when there is an awful amount of sound pollution everywhere we turn? Quitness is a food for the soul, do we all agree...
Hi Marina. I’m glad you like the tutorial and sorry you don’t like the music, however, it isn’t there just to be “soothing” as you say, and I’m certainly not attempting to sugarcoat anything at all.
I live in a town, with neighbours and cars, aeroplanes, dogs, etc… So, the music is my way of cancelling out the background noise.
I spend lots of time editing the sound on these videos to eliminate actual sound pollution, and the music covers what I can’t remove. Hope that makes sense.
NO I DON'T WISH TO JOIN YOUR PATRION THANKS, REMOVE FROM THE SCREEN.
I’m sorry that you’re clearly feeling upset about me advertising a product that I have worked extremely hard to create. I put lots of time and effort into creating content, which is largely FREE for everyone, including yourself. Happy painting 😊
