Jerry really presents himself and his passion well. I have no doubt this man will have a good life ... and get his son in the air, too. The best of luck and success to Jerry ...

Your channel is something special Mike, watching you travel around to document planes is always enjoyable for a (hopefully) future pilot like me. That being said, I think theres room for improvement in some ares, the one I’ve seen talked about most is the presentation of these interviews, so I’d like to pass on to you everything I’ve learned on how to conduct an interview through my tenure at film school. if you do these very easy things, your interviews will feel a lot more natural and lose that “factory made” feel that it seems is causing disdain:
    1) begin recording before you start the interview, then ask your subject to say their full name and how its spelled for caption writing, then ask them to re-introduce themselves as an opening to the interview
    2) before you start the interview ask the subject if they could try to include the question you asked in their answer, (this is what writers call “paraphrasing”) by doing this you don’t have to drag things out by including footage of you asking the question or put up title-cards
    3) do your best to avoid asking questions that warrant a one-word answer (I.E “yes or no” questions) as those don’t work with the previously mentioned system, a good way to avoid this is to avoid beginning questions with “would you...” and instead asking questions like “why or why not would you...” to warrant more thorough answers
    4) don’t be afraid to ask the subject to elaborate on something, cutting two fragments of speaking together doesn’t feel as unnatural as one might suspect
I hope this helps in your interviewing endeavors! I apologize if I came across as harsh with my criticism.

Mike this video and with the completion of your new plane is the perfect segue into a video about the economics of operating a plane for your personal business. Would love to see what tax benefits are available to make flying more economical for business owners

I believe the P-38 qualifies as a light sport aircraft. As a private pilot you can be a light sport instructor.

I have I won't say quite a bit of time but sometime in the Tomahawk. I did my instrument training and spin training in one of those. Very good times. footnote.. before you do spend training make sure the vertical stabilizer AD has been done.
I've always thought they would look good with a set of wheel pants. The performance was very satisfying. Sensitive enough to be sporty but still a very forgiving airplane.

Im actually looking at a tomahawk I was offered suddenly for an extremely good price. Don't know I need a fourth single engine, but I definitely want it, especially considering the price. It flies very well.

      LMAO HAHAHAH
For real bro as a Piper Tomahawk Pilot myself can’t relate.. I did almost every Aerobatic maneuver in PA-38 and never spinned the damn thing, I think that the shitty reputation comes from shit pilots don’t having any awareness..

I still see these selling for 30k range much cheaper then 150's. People who never even flown them claim they stall easily.

Great video, lovely looking aeroplane, I've always liked the look of them, but they do have a rep. In the UK these aircraft changed (due to flat spin/unrecoverable spin characteristics) the PPL training syllabus, to exclude spinning in all aircraft. Several instructors/students were killed in training (stalling/spinning) - in the Tomahawk 1 issues with the T-Tail, heavy controls etc etc caused the problems. The Tomahawk 2 was supposed to be better, stronger safer. But in the UK they're still nicknamed the 'Terrorhawk' - okay in the hands of an experienced pilot I guess? Not recommended as a first aeroplane for a low hours pilot?

I wouldn't fly in one of these if it were given to me. "The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) estimated that the Tomahawk's stall/spin accident rate was three to five times that of the Cessna 150/152." "The Tomahawk has a higher rate of fatal spin accidents per flying hour than the Cessnas".

I think the Tomahawk is perfect for active spin recovery training. I
don't really get why you would get one if you want to do something else.

Hey Mike, new to channel, love your variety, but this video is really boring interviewing him with no commentary from you and nothing more than a static video listening to him rant about stuff, but this video is really nothing about the Tomahawk

    • @Aviator27J
      @Aviator27J 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I wish they/he discussed costs. Purchasing, upgrades, insurance (maybe, since it would vary widely by pilot and location), operation, maintenance/annual, etc. I know the Tomahawk isn't too much to buy (when you can find them) but how about to own?
