Well, as far as I am aware the legends were made about demons and, due to the Polish language and how it works, some of the names given to the demons ended up having a female/feminine way like 'Bieda' while the word is used to mean 'poverty' and is a feminine noun so the Polish people gave it a womanly appearance. I believe that's the case for most, if not all, the myths and legends. Also, Polish women are just super strong and scary lol XD hope that helps!

Y'all should do a cryptic/urban legend episode about Oregon. Recently I stayed at the Inn at ArchRock in Depoe Bay, I started hearing from the staff/ people staying there that they have recently started spotting this short figure down by the hideaway cove which is 50 ft below the inn's back lookout area. This figure appears as one of a boy wearing a blue pullover hoodie, jeans and shoes. They spot this being at around 1:45 am by the cove's entrance; gazing, completely still, out to the sea. Usually the people will brush it off and head back into their rooms. But those who called out to it were met with chills. The being would twist their head towards the voice, it had no face but rather a glaring bright light like the one of a lighthouse.the being would then go back to their sea-gazing after the witness rushed back inside. Towards normal waking hours there will be no trace of the being, just the haunting memory of its blinding light...
When it comes to paralysis, perhaps you've been sleeping in too little a bed. I felt "paralyzed" several times when I temporary moved to a tiny (narrow) bed. I would wake up to realize that I can't move my body for a few seconds including taking a deeper breath, just little shallow ones. It's a defense mechanism which body employs in order not to fall off the tiny bed while you're asleep. Basically you may wake up a few seconds before your brain "turns the paralysis off". Once I moved back to a normal-sized bed it never happened again.
My mom actually seen a zmora once in sleep, she was paralysed. She told me if a Zmora ever comes to me in sleep that I just have to tell her that she is pretty over and over again till she leaves.
