    People are spoiled. This thing is in the vein of old school samplers which I’m totally fine with. It’s funny , people want to get away from the computer screen but complain when a piece of gear doesn’t have a screen 💀

      This is very refreshing to see a sampler harken back to the old days. Can’t wait for mine to show up!
      You nailed it with the whiners 🤣

  • @StrillLife
    @StrillLife ปีที่แล้ว +3

    🤣🤣🤣 Not the Magnavox Odyssey overlay! You look way up young to know about that. My brother and I used to be the only kids on the box with the Odyssey. All the other kids had the Atari and looked at us like we had the Kmart version of the Atari... Naw I don't have Donkey Kong but I got Pickaxe Pete... Same thing... Kinda (not).

    very similar workflow to chopping up stuff on an SP303. It is a bunch of taking the master sample, moving the endpoints, resampling to a new pad, repeat, repeat, repeat. Worth it to do it the "hard" way though. Stuff that is autochopped all sounds generic and isn't as satisfying.
    Also, with the firmware update, you could now throw these into an empty pattern at 60bpm and re-record them into a kit for DRUM mode.

    I know this is an old video, but could you please be so kind as to let me know how you are connecting the lofi to the audio source? I just got mine and the manual is so sparse. I am new and can't find anything that explains what cables I need or how to connect to an output. Thank you so much!

    I love limited samplers. My favorite is the Korg Microsampler. But adding an overlay is not acceptable for me. That’s annoying.

      It's not that bad. Mine is still pretty new to me, and I know where most things are already. It took me a while to get used to Sonicware, but I got an 8bit Warps and Lofi-12 now and they're both a lot of fun.

    Limitations lead to creativity. Yes you can get the job done quicker on dearer gear like Maschine plus or MPC but it doesnt mean the track will be any better as most people who have those dont make a hit record. And no im not paid to say this.

    • @BlezzBeats
      @BlezzBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that's an overstatement that gets thrown around way too much, at least for me. There are different tools for different jobs and there is a limit to being too limited just as much as there's a limit that introduces paradox of choice. Like in this case, I don't think the samples and sculpting them or the sample time, or amount of tracks or fx is a problem, it's just a more creative workflow to record the sound and have it sequenced exactly where you want it rather than take 10 extra steps to move them back to where you initially recorded them. The SP1200 had that too so it made that 180 bpm 16th-triplet quantized with some swing boom bap groove legendary, but also uniform. The hi-res mode was just tricky to lock in with those pads so it was easier to program and quantize. Here it's just unneccessary.
      No arguing about that the end user defines what comes out of the box though.

      @@BlezzBeats I get what your saying. They could have made it easier as tech has moved on. Im eyeballing a sampler for some hip hop. I have considered the SP1200 reissue but this peaked some interest and ive ordered one. See how long before i break in frustration :)

    • @BlezzBeats
      @BlezzBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thepaintingtube7965 Yeah exactly 😁 But yeah this will do alot more than the SP for an extreme fraction of the price. The only advantage is the SP has the samples all laid out in front of you + the pad settings (although much fewer) can be edited immediately. With this you gotta switch between each sample.

    • @BlezzBeats
      @BlezzBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha yeah I know almost too much about it 😁 that's a more accurate comparison! Never played it but squeezed it in a store. Remember those wooden boxes with 2 knobs that tilts a board which you use to control a marble and avoid falling into holes? That had expansion pack boards with easier levels that you lay on top of the original board, I thought that was genius as a kid.

      @@BlezzBeats yah but it doesnt make it endless....it still fades unless you use the tied function.
      There are two different release controls...one in sample mode...the other in sequence mode....
      The one in sample mode def has a greater effect....but it still fades out when I'm trying to run just a drum loop. The tied feature might be the best bet....seeing as how you can hold the first sequencer step after hittig one of the keyboard keys....so long as the loop matches the bpm....you could just tie the sample from step one all the way to step 64
