OHHH you should look everything about them, the legacy of X Japan is insane! Kurenai, Tears, Forever love, Without You, Dahlia, Silent Jealousy, X, Art of Life and many more. All the members are legends, RIP Hide, Taiji and Heath.
Awwww thank you for picking X!!🙏✨ Please watch the rock ones too, I recommend "Kurenai" from the the last live at Tokyo Dome!🥹 X has a good contrast of hard rock tunes and beautiful ballards. And their live performance and the crowds are amazing, it's really interesting to watch!! ありがとう❤
Wow, B'z, X Japan!? They are some of my favorite bands!! Please also react to the bands Glay (songs: Yuuwaku, However, Survival) and L'Arc~en~Ciel, Hyde's band (songs: Honey, Flower, Niji). Oh yes, also react to the song Kurenai by X Japan!! So perhaps the band's appearance matches the sound they produce. lol
Watch X Japan's 'Last Live Concert. Start with X and Kurenai, that'll really show you why they're so highly regarded in Japan. Endless Rain and the song Kurenai are so popular the Babymetal made 2 inspired by songs, No Rain No Rainbow and Akatsuki
Finally!! The legend X JAPAN!! They are my GOD!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! Next one should be "Kurenai", it's a must listening! And personally, l want to recommend you react to "ART OF LIFE", this song is 30 minutes long, and it is a masterpiece!! Their live performance at TOKYO DOME is absolutely great!! And please, react to the full version! You won't regret it❤
💎OMG! I can't believe it has taking you so long to check out X JAPAN this beautiful legendary band that one few that paved way for over 1,000s of artists to create the Visual Kei music scene and all of it's unique subgenres and styles. I love 💖X JAPAN & Visual Kei so much I can wait to see your Reactions to more MV & Lives of X JAPAN and many many more Visual Kei artists an bands. I will leave some recommendations in the future. ⭐✨
I think you’re ready to watch the ladies’ heavy metal rock band from the 80’s called “SHOW-YA” !! They’re the god mothers of female rock bands and still active till date ❤ They are awesome 🤩
Wait a minute... you've never heard of X before? OMG! They're a legendary band!🤩 You really need to react to "Kurenai" and "X". These songs match more with the band visual style you saw in this MV. Yoshiki (the pianist) is also the drummer, which is quite the contrast when you look at the soft piano performance in this song versus the crazy drum work in their more rock songs!
You described how I felt the first time I ever heard X Japan. I didn't grow up on the at all but the first time I ever listened to them I felt nostalgic and even melancholy for an era I was never even apart of it feels very familiar. I think also because you can definitely hear western influences too. But it really feels as if you're WITH THEM when you listen to their music ...if that makes any sense.
I'm so happy you finally checked X JAPAN!! They were most active in my childhood, 80's to 90's. Their music, the stage presence, the energy were so stunning! You may like Kurenai, I think. If you like, pls check solo project of HIDE, the lead guitarist of the band. He is one of the legends in Japan.
Oh man. I listened to these guys religiously throughout my teenage years. Check out "Silent Jealousy" and "Kurenai" - or something a bit newer: "I.V" (this one was used as a credit song for the Saw IV movie in Japan lol)
So nostalgic! I love this band, they are legends. They started in the early 80s. Created the Japanese visual kei genre, inspiring a lot of bands and artists ever since. They have such a history on the Japanese music scene. Toshi has such a unique voice, you can always tell it’s him, just like you can tell a song is an X Japan song. Yoshiki, the pianist and drummer, is still one of the biggest names in the Japanese music scene. They stopped back in 1997, and after that, we sadly lost guitarist Hide to suicide. Extremely heartbreaking. And then, they reunited again in 2007, so there are some newer songs as well. But since you loved this song, Luke, I’m sure you’ll love the rest of their songs too! I recommend checking out “Tears”, it’s my favorite, with such beautiful lyrics. ❤️ They later added a verse there in memory of Hide and it’s so freaking sad.
The band doesn't believe Hide killed himself. They believe it was an accident. He had, using a towel, bound up his shoulder to relieve the pain. But he passed out causing strangulation.
Nice to see An X Japan reaction! As an addition to what others have mainly suggested, I'd also recommend the live version of the song "Say Anything" back from their concert in 1991.
Yoshiki from X Japan, the pianist/drummer, composed the third season Attack on Titan OP, Red Swan! Sakura Stardust has a good video on them called "The most controversial band in Japan" (...so yeah it focuses on a lot of "controversy" lol but it's still a good watch!) I recommend you try out some Dir en grey 😎 VINUSHKA live from the Androgynos tour would be a great place to start.....
they sound soft here but trust me..they can play pretty heavy, like the blue blood, kurenai, stab me in the back, X, rusty nail, btw they are the most awesome band in the world:)
Great reaction. :) They were inspired by hair metal, but they also have heavier songs, they are metal band after all. :D Try "Kurenai" from The Last Live live performance from 1997. ;) The Last Live is legendary show, it was their last live performance before they disbanded. X Japan formed in 1984 and changed a lot japanese music, they were very famous and their disbandmend changed everything again... And not long after that, only few months later, their guitarist died what was also big shock for fans, I don't want to use here that word that starts with "s", but... For years there were released some their live performances or special editions of albums, I think mostly their drummer and pianist was doing it, and they came back in 2007. Unfortunately now are on hiatus since their bassist died in 2023...
I didnt know there are people who didnt know x japan 😮 Oh my God, that fact alone left me shocking.. I grew up listening x japan.. And everyone loves them 😅
If you want more of x japan, need to check "forever love" That was the Saddest song ever Or you can also check masatoshi ono - you are the only What a voice.. What a voice!
I LOOOOOVE THIS SONG! It makes my heart feel so calm! Also, this song was performed by a group of Japanese female artists on Kohaku (Japanese special tv show to celebrate the end of the year) and Baby Metal was there, seeing Su singing Endless Rain felt like a dream came true. X-Japan was part of the Japanese bands that were trying to adapt the glam rock/metal scene to Japan, hence the crazy hairstyles, that eventually evolved until it became what we know as Visual Key
Endless Rain is there too, actually is the more popular one right now, Yoshiki played Endless Rain in so many moments in his career that it has actually become his signature song.
@@sauronlucilfer3923 I think what they mean is that Endless Rain doesn't necessarily convey what the X Japan vibe is about? They've had slower ballads like this, of course - genius at that, but it's different to what most people - especially in the west, associate them with.
This reminds me of the first time I heard Poison. I heard they were a metal band, but the first song I heard by them was Ever Rose has a Thorn. X Japan's Blue Blood is more metal sounding. I also think you should check out Seikima-II.
seem so long ago... yet still remember it like yesterday.... RIP Hide. (he passed in 98) Luke, you should take a listen to "forever love" by X Japan. (it's for anime X/1999, less known today but it used to mentioned in the same league as Evangelion.)
How big were they? They sold-out the Tokyo Dome 18 times, capacity 55,000. They were also the first Japanese band to perform at Lallapalooza in the US. Gene Simmons, Kiss, said they would have been one of the biggest band the world. If they had been a western band, AKA sang in English. You should react to "Kurenai" from the last live concert.
If you ever react to X Japan again. please listen to their "last live" with Forever Love. It is a heart-wrenching performance! You will instantly find it if you search up 'forever love last live'
If you’re big into anime then look for Rusty Nail, it actually has a full blown anime music video to it, epic. Also, Tears, Forever love and Silent Jealousy is great by them

My best 'Endless rain' version ever is the last live and maybe last song before they disband. The clip is 9 years ago but the live was in 1997. The pain from this version of this song gave me goosebumps every time I listened to it. th-cam.com/video/7rwJIeN1M7o/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Yoshiki
Nice one, but we must have told you about X Japan and how influential they are on so many Japanese bands. 'Endless Rain' sounds like a song you know or have heard before? How about a song you have heard (BABYMETAL's 'No Rain, No Rainbow') sounds like 'Endless Rain'? It is an homage right down to the guitar arrangements for that which were written by Kami Band guitarist Leda Cygnus. The neck brace BABYMETAL use so much ('Headbanger' video, many live performances) is an homage to Yoshiki - he is the pianist, drummer and main composer and it was him who needed surgery and a neck brace after damaging his neck headbanging. X Japan's most famous live performances (I am no expert so there may well be loads more I don't know about) seem to be from the Last Live - the end of December 1997 at the Tokyo Dome just before they were about to split up. 'Kurenai' (which also influenced BABYMETAL's 'Akatsuki') and 'Endless Rain' are both on YT.
Oh, I know a good song to react to: _ART OF LIFE - X JAPAN (Full ver 30 min) - Live at TOKYO DOME - Dec 31_ on Yoshiki's TH-cam channel. (I'm only half joking.)
If possible, please check a version of this song performed with Queen, Sarah Brightman, LiSA, milet, Babymetal... It's on Queen's channel: th-cam.com/video/BdxjIl6xmZE/w-d-xo.html A very short one, but beautiful 😊 It's from Kohaku show, one of the biggest TV shows in Japan to celebrate each new year.
@GOTGames Oh forgot one thing, this is performed during the 1st new year with COVID, hence the recording of Queen and Yoshiki in UK and US, respectively.
