Teck Hoh Ng An Armoured Fighting Vehicle never fights alone. During my time, Armour operated in a Battle Group of a Battalion strength. During battle, the surviving troopers will hop onto the other AFVs and continue with the mission. The disabled AFV will be towed aside and have the engine replaced in the battlefield. The doctrines may have been changed now with the 3G army and all the sophisticated electronics and weapons that did not exist before.
Thanks for enlightening on the tecnicalities of an amour car during war time.. The issue is why the vehicle can stall on a parade in the street and not kept in tip top condition ready for assault.
These guys are NSF right? Then they may also rehearse in camp too! The driver is the one taking care of the vehicle but of course VC is the overall in charge. AFV fights in formation and can be deployed during defensive. For AI, if vehicle breaks down or being hit all other troopers will hop onto other AFV or they can always go infantry role. In a war situation anything can happen and the main thing is to move on. Not sure the doctrines now. If you went through the company live firing, you should feel the armour fire power (support fire, especially in the night)!

redstar19 Haha! You know something, I have close up footage of the vehicle commander in a very anxious stage. Probably wetting his pants. I have not used this footage to safe guard his dignity.
No offence but what what if this happens during war? I mean the weapons are cool and advanced but I don't think that Singapore can afford a breakdown during war
breakdowns, getting hit by enemy, damaged or destruction are all anticipated and part of war. That's why integral to the army are maintenance and recovery vehicles of every kind (yes, giant 'tow trucks') to even tow out 60-ton tanks. Its so bizarre you speak like life will be all perfect.
They calmly handled the breakdown like as though they had expected it to happen. Kudos to them for being alert.

i have a clip on the "breakdown" too, and it is a rehearsal. Anyway real or not, hope it won't breakdown on actual day at Padang.
