I am from sweden and my grandfather remembers when his family did this to make bricks for chimneys and fireplaces. Sadly it stopped in the 50s, when we stopped building traditional houses like our ancestors and switched to modern houses. The modern houses are not better! The old ways are best and people here in sweden are relearning how to do things by hand and heart. So if anyone tells you its better to build with modern materials, they are stupid!

Fire bricks require blending in more sand and or ground pot shards (grog) and firing to 2.500 degrees Fahrenheit. Reaching that temperature is the hard part with wood and a coarse kiln.
Yes good question @@stevejohnstonbaugh9171 A recipe for fire bricks, say for an oven or cooking place, or fireplace is a nice recipe to know for 'fire bricks'.
Hi Pablo...when moulding is done ..the bricks are dried under a shed and then later fired in the kiln to make it waterproof and durable for construction
It's like any cob - you can use grass in there too, and lime and ash to make it more durable, but even without, you have a wide roof on your house so it doesn't get rained on, it's good.

Hi Anna - I'd much rather do hands on work (craft) than in an office for a corporation who make unnecessary items that help turn the money machine for ((them)) - if we were all self sufficient, we'd hardly be in competition or fighting with anybody. Very hard worker 💪👍👏
Sure very hardworking
Ever done it while i was still young. Back-breaking work, one could only do as last resort

I wish we had clay soil like this
You probably do, just dig deep below the fertile layer of your top soil.
@@charlibravo371 we have mostly sandy soil

I have to buy a bag of sand sadly in my area
Having clay soil is horrible if you don't have proper roads, every part of the road can convert to hell once it rains, pros and cons

Great job, keep up the great work.
Thank you jason
This method of laying bricks is not like that in my area, but casting bricks is fast and the price is also cheap

Brick beats wood in staying power and durability.
I live in an apartment in Sweden, the house was built in 1950s. And it's built like crap, with horrible isolation, I can hear all the noisy neighbors.

Exactly. The ancient houses are still there. They were built with pure mud and clay
