Those turned out WAY better than I thought. And painting the rims black was a great idea. You really can’t tell that the fronts are different from the rear, unless you get really close and inspect.
There’s nothing wrong with those $1.60 hubcaps.

Cool caps. Back in the 80's I had a 69 C10 pickup with grungy aluminum slots. I bought 4 aluminum frying plan covers and made a bracket so I could use the center knob hole on the covers to mount them. It had kind of a salt flat racer look when done. I'll email you a picture

I can’t believe it! I was complaining YESTERDAY about the paper labels on some plastic storage boxes I bought for my workshop. Same deal. Just don’t get it. It’s like they intentionally want to make us struggle.
Those bowl caps are great. Innovative idea. Wheels look terrific. I might add 4 more screws around the bowl rim just for optical balance. And some kind of detail element on the flat bottoms. But they are fantastic just as is . 😊👍👍
BTW, I rescue those hose clamps from washing machines and dishwashers people throw out here. Good source of all kinds of hoses, wires, clamps, screws… I can’t help it. I’m a junk lover. But none of mine is high performance!!

@@ratrodsafrica yes for sure. My Uncle was a supervisor for a power plant in the States back in the 50’s to the 80’s. I am sure when things got hectic at the plant there were a lot of improvising going on his part. He was just that kind of man. Those canine water bowls were bought at a local hardware store and were of the size to cover a 5 lug x 4.5 bolt pattern which is common on Dodges & Fords of that time. Your truck uses 6 lug and I am guessing 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern, English measurement of course. So I see it would had to be a bigger bowl for a big dog😂

    • @xmo552
      @xmo552 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ian rousell used his dog's bowl as port hole window trim on a wild dune buggy he built on t.v.
Back in the 50s, Barris used plastic chrome eggs that the ladies' panty hose used to be sold in.... as hubcap bullets.
I love the look of your bowls as center caps. I always like the stainless look. I have a truck build I'm doing that uses the front suspension from a 2007 p71 cop car crown vic. The wheels have a similar look: black with a stainless nut cover.
I love your truck. I noticed a ton of custom touches. I'll go back and watch your other vids.

You have a very good idea, I do the same with my Barbie doll scale RC Semi Trucks.
I also take tin cans of coffee for the fuel tanks.
For the rims on the front axle, I use decorative trim made of chrome from shut-off valves and sink drain pipes. I use the drain pipes themselves for the exhaust pipes made of chrome. The roof lamps are made of various ballpoint pen elements. So many everyday things are so easy to use and that I really enjoy thinking about what you can do with what you need. For me, the hardware store and the dollar store are my truck chrome shops.

If you found a nice badge/emblem with a raised relief that could be glued or rivetted on the the flat base of the mixing bowls, it would go a long way to hide their origins. Just an idea.

This cracks me up! I love it.... you think as I do. You made me think of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea as I think the engine room in the Nautilus they used clear mixing bowls with dancing coloured lamps to make it look cool. Great thinking and improvising! I got a quote on a box window last week of $3,500.00 USD so I made one for $300... I just posted the video of how it turned out a few days ago. It turned out pretty well. I am thinking of using your bowl idea on my old 1957 GMC. Thank you Sir. Bobby

@@ratrodsafrica I just finished trimming and painting my box window last night but have posted all I think is needed. It is so much better and I love the depth and light back in that dark corner of my kitchen now. I am going to get some bowls and do your trick on my trailer wheels so I'll be posting that in a few days or so. I powder coated the wheels on my old truck and my little trailer wheels (Snow Bear) looks kinda crummy now. A nice paint up and baby bowl moon caps will be just the thing. Hey nothing wrong with budget builds that is most of us mechanics/car collectors that is why I do majory of my mechanic that I can on my own
One major budget repair I did was a vacuum valve assembly for a 1981 300d using a block of aluminum I fabricated to make the valve using o rings and springs from homedepot (a home repair store in the usa) and that is just a few.

Absolutely brilliant, well done Div! 👍 When you mentioned those bowls in the last video I was wondering if you'll turn them into some sort of lights, but this is just plain awesome 🙂 Personally, I love the combination of satin black wheels and shiny center caps, used to rock this combination on my old Merc back in the day and nowadays I got this (factory) setup on my CrownVic plus some additional trim rings. You nailed it, it does go very well with your truck for a very reasonable price 😀. Also, congrats to all those new subscribers to your channel since the last months!
