- Stepping barefoot on a nail = piercing pain.
Having that nail removed = piercing pain.
Would you ignore the nail to save yourself the pain of extraction? Not unless you want a gangrenous infection. The choice is obvious when it comes to our physical health. Yet most of us are guilty of burying emotional wounds, allowing them to fester into full-blown bitterness.
In this message, Dr. Stanley exhorts us to examine those tender places. Yes, it can be painful to do so, but it is ultimately worth it. Find courage to face your wounds and experience God’s healing touch.

I can totally understand this message. I was emotionally hurt by my parents my whole childhood. I grew up bitter, angry, and filled with rage. I turned away from God and society, fell into alcohol and drugs, and basically screwed up my whole life. Only now, at over 50 years old, have I begged the Lord for help and He has welcomed me home. Every day is a struggle but with Jesus' help, I'm very slowly recovering. Praise God for His mercy.

Dave, I understand some what. I have a mother-in-law of 32 years who has the Jezebel spirit on her. I have endured her emotional abuse from the get-go! My husband and I were studying why the Baptist church has so many splits. We discovered the Jezebel spirit is the reason, my husband was like OMG that is my mom. The Holy Spirit then showed us how the Jezebel spirit comes on a person. Usually, it's by rejection by one parent, and the other is overbearing. She very rarely speaks of her childhood e cept for bragging about how rebellious she was. One of my gifts, God gave me is Love. I recently found bitterness and hardening of my heart creeping up in my life. I am choosing today to forgive her. I have also chosen to stay away from her. She is totally selfish and believes only her feelings matter. She is a bitter old woman now who will not hear the truth. She is the last person in this word I want to be like. I know Christ died for her, too. So, I must pray for the Truth to be revealed to her, and she repents. I think of the Scripture that says; Not all who say Lord, Lord will enter the gates of Heaven, but only those who are doing the will of the Father. Matthew 7:21
For anybody who's hurting today and listening to this God loves you and he will put people in your life to lift you up and help you

I am doing my best to release a hurt as a toddler that created a distorted view of the world and of Life itself. At 72 years old, I am finally starting to release the pain, betrayal and terror of that experience thru trusting that I am in God's Hands. Thank You, Lord.

@ Look Upwards: Christ honored The True God 's commandment that His Father gave to Moses in the Old Testament as the Holy Spirit did not resurrect Christ from the grave until on the Sunday morning and not on the

This is such a powerful message. I know all about being hurt, but with a lot of prayer, and I really mean a lot of prayer, God truly got me through it. It took me a really long time to just let it go. But my family, my loving family, my daughter my son, my loving sister and my wonderful parent's along with my pastor got me through this. I finally let it go. And when the memories of it try to creep in. I rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ.
Forgiveness is for us not them. When we finally forgive. God will forgive us when we do something wrong.

Please listen with caution. Our biblical view of hurting broken individuals needs to be aligned to God's word. His holistic understanding of redemption and compassion for hurting individuals. I caution all believers not to vilify individuals who have not only been hurt but who suffer permanent consequences of all forms of abuse.One needs to place regular relational pain affecting the ego Vs real physical or emotional harm and permanent damage into two separate categories. For example if someone suffers from PTSS from the hurt then that person relives the pain on a frequent or daily basis. Or having to live in the permanent consequences of others broken choices without oneself having had any say over the context of when the other person chose to hurt/abuse the other person. Feel more sensitivity is needed in interpreting scriptures that better address how Jesus has made it possible to deal fully and completely with the whole range and spectrum of broken human behaviour and redemption of the broken in spirit. Grappling with such level of hurt and ultimately leading to the understanding of the pain and why it is necessary to for give as part of a process of healing shouldn't a be dismissed lightly or minimized as a mere 'sinful' reaction that one needs to 'get over' as proof that one is growing in spiritual maturity and relational wisdom based on biblical values and standards for human behaviour.

I know that Jesus Christ is very much alive. He has raised me from the dead. Healing that comes from Him can be sudden and also can take time. Put time in your relationship with Him and stick with it. Don’t throw your hope away. With Jesus your hope is always there as long as you do your part. Jesus is amazing and I highly recommend Him.

So true. My mother worked me from when I could do household chores. Three other siblings but only worked me..had to babysit my siblings almost to raise them, no dates, just work..I asked her once why but no answer 😢 hard when a parent hurts you...finding out later she didn't want children 😢 I had to let go and give it to God. I struggled all through life wanting a relationship with my mom 👩 she never said she loved me 😢I asked her why and again no answer 😢

So timely. A family member's insulting remarks in each of our conversations has shown me that its wise to keep a distance between us and pray for her. For years I listened as she spoke of her hurt from another family member. She felt used and then was suddenly blocked, unable to contact again. Now I understand why this happened to her. Any softly spoken, mild remarks I managed to say to her were immediately rejected. It's just so sad because it had been nearly 50 years that we hadn't spoken to each other.

AMEN! Sounds like the last 12 years of my life! As for me, it's like Dr. Stanley was preaching about me and then began to think of the craziness with the pandemic, me getting sick, for 3 1/2 months, then a car accident, loss of my Dad, then losing my brother-in-law, I am so thankful and blessed that I made amends with them both before they left this world; I believe that my Dad is in Heaven as he was born again at the age of 12, but was so badly back-slidden, that he lost his way again and was not able to make amends with his siblings,those he had ill feelings towards,etc.but my Sister said before he was placed on a ventilator, that he re-dedicated himself to Jesus and emptied all the bad stuff in his heart towards friends, loved ones that he has wronged or held grudges towards,etc. which blinded his heart and soul from hearing the voice of His Lord, and he was in peace before he passed into the arms of Jesus. Though my heart was crushed that my father on Earth , who God chose for me and my Sister and who was a devoted and loving Husband to his dear wife of 52 years. He was so determined to get that evil vaccine because he was so afraid to get sick from CoVid and because he missed his family so much that he would have done anything to be around all of us again. As I remember the last words that Dad spoke to me was in regards to the injuries and pain that I've been suffering,etc. he said to me "Baby girl, I'm so sorry you are in so much pain, and that you have been hurting as you have; if only I could kiss and hug all of your pain away, I would come running to you!
