One Christmas my aunt gave my older sister a boxed set of VM Hillyer's A Child's History of the World and A Child's Geography of the World. I think my sister may have been a little old for them, but I devoured them and reread them multiple times, especially the history. I learned a lot. At that age I didn’t think much about who authors were and didn’t know about the Calvert School or Baltimore connections until just now when you flashed a picture of one of the books.
Such a beautiful house! I was hoping that the headmaster would take us inside to show us around. Maybe for a future 5-minute history video?
The story with the mountain lake and the nymph woman is called "Hermaphroditus and Salmacis." They even have a song version on it.

Interesting story!
This is a beautiful neighborhood - I drive through it often. The Calvert children look so happy - it is always cheering to see them.
Disappointed not to be able to see inside.
