- On this episode of The John Campea Show (Recorded Sunday, November 19th 2017) John talks about the following:
Support John on Patreon - / johncampea
Richard H - What are your thoughts of Moviepass' new $6.95 a month annual plan? And in your opinion should current moviepass holders "upgrade"?
Gordon Hann - I have been noticing when an actor has won or been nominated for a oscar award. In the marketing of the film they put "oscar winner" or 'oscar nominated" about the actor. How come they do not do this this with some actors like tom cruise who has been nominated three times?
Jonathan Metal - Last night I was talking to my dad about how Disney is making a new Star Wars trilogy & it will be with new characters & my dad pretty much said he doesn't care cause it won't be with the characters he grew up with. A lot of Star Wars fans only know the main characters in the movies so if they were to make the movie based on KOTOR do you think it wouldn't do that great at the box office?
Bobs Najjar - I hope you can understand why I'm a bit disappointed Justice League isn't going to do great at the box office. I'm now worried WB will shut down the DCEU because of lack of interest from the audience. My question is, what do you think is the reason more people went to see Thor, BvS and most other comic book movies over Justice League?
Natalie Miller - Hi John, watch your show almost every day! My question is regarding the massive difference between Justice League’s critic and audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Last I checked it was at 39% for critics and 86% for audience. Clearly fans are loving it but not critics. Why are the critics so out of touch with the fans on this movie?
There was really no reason to keep Superman a secret in the promotion for this movie. He appears like halfway through lol. I literally had an argument with 2 people last week at work who said superman wasn't gonna be in the movie too lol
Mike Dasik well that's the thing everyone doesn't live this stuff like me and (probably) you. Let's not underestimate the amount of people who just randomly see a poster and say (i don't even know who half of those people are)
This video is an example of why I'm a Patreon subscriber for John Campea. Unlike other popular TH-camrs who do Movie Reviews and breakdowns. He straight up said I was wrong. Didn't couch it, didn't try to justify it, didn't try to weasel around it. Nobody will always be correct, but it's how you deal with and react to being wrong that is important. Thanks for the honesty and integrity John. Keep it coming.
Even though I enjoyed JL, I hope this will make WB take a hard look at their DC films moving forward.
Chainsaw Reacts what if they just end up selling DC to another studio
I hope it leads to Snyder never touching another DC film again
I think the times of 'mess' productions are over. Wan has Aquaman, Reeves has Batman, Patty has Wonder Woman and Sandberg - Shazam!.
Superman is fixed (except his upper lip XD ) and we can hope we get MoS2 we deserve.
I mean JL was better than suicide squad and BvS
I hope it means the WB execs finally understand that YOU DO *NOT* IMPOSE A NEW RUNTIME ON A MOVIE, or OTHERWISE change the plan, IN THE MIDDLE OF PRODUCTION!!! BvS, Suicide Squad, and now Justice League? HAVE YOU IDIOTS LEARNED NOTHING?!?
WB had it coming. Time to respect the audience
I was all ready to rip you a new one but you explained perfectly why the critic score & audience score really isn't that different & how fan boys hurt the true audience score.
ravissary79 Even if you're telling the truth about that, those were MASSIVELY overshadowed by the thousands of 10/10 and 9/10 votes from people who hadn't seen the movie yet.
james richardson That's weird. Why were you ready to rip him a new one? You basically admitted that without hearing his opinion you already decided on an opinion you would accept and one that you would not. That is a clear case of close-mindedness.
1:48 Movie pass
8:41 marketing Oscar actors for movies
12:06 peoples feelings on Star Wars new trilogy
15:43 Justice League box office and what will happen to the DCEU
33:29 Twitter Question
33:55 someone’s experience at a Justice League screening
There is absolutely one big giant thing that put the DCEU into it's current sorry state...............Zack Snyder.
WB were insane to not only put him in charge of the first ever DC connected movie universe, but to then give him 3 chances to make a good movie only to have him fail every single time. That's insanity on WB's part. I just hope that he hasn't tainted the entire DC brand as a whole, if he has then who knows how many years it'll take DC to recover.
Did Kevin Tsujihara make MoS, BvS and JL?
Longer run times wouldn't have made people suddenly love Snyder's movies.
Better still doesn't = good.
King Superman man of steel was amazing buddy...
Keep telling yourselves that.
forget the audience rating on RT... i go by what i hear from people i know... and most people I know enjoyed the movie.. infact most youtube critics gave it a possitive review.. so i was shocked by the score of 39%... it isnt 90% by any means... but imo its atleast a 7/10
39% means more critics gave it 5/10 and below. A movie with 90% could Just be 90% of critics giving only a 6/10.
Now it's 41%
+jay garrick I'm no comic book fan by any means and I thought JL WAS OUTSTANDING.
I just realized we live in a world where a character named Thor makes more money than a movie with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Flash...I am speechless.
THANOS TO JUSTICE LEAGUE....."THIS PUTS A SMILE ONTO MY FACE"
MoS = Fool me once, shame on you.
BvS = Fool me twice, shame on me.
SS = Didn't bother.
WW = Waited quite a while to see it and ended up doing so due to positive reactions. It wasn't bad in spite of Gal Gadot.
JL (aka. BvS II) = Looks like I'm not alone in my assessment of this francise thus far.
Vince Solis not a real comic book fan then
If being a real comic book movie fan means I have to like bad movies then I'm happy to be excluded from that group.
Pretty much my exact thoughts. I saw Man of Steel on Netflix and then Batman v Superman in theatres (on 4/20 last year), and because they were so bad I skipped Suicide Squad. Also skipped Wonder Woman but saw it online early this month and it was pretty good! I don't know if I'll see JL in theatres or not, so far BvS is the only one I have.
Also, I have no plans on ever watching Suicide Squad.
Man of Steel- loved it
BvS-cinematically it looked awesome, had cool parts but not the best movie
Suicide squad-gets worse every time I watch it
Wonder Woman-loved it
Justice League-love the movie but can understand why someone else wouldn’t
Aquaman-loved it
Shazam- loved it
If Cinemascore is the best thing we should look at...yet you say don't look at the B+ and think it's good....then they probably should go with a different scoring system! B+ is good and it should be thought as such since we are conditioned through school to use it as such. Also, some of the scores....like PowerRangers getting an A, the same as Thor?? Not sure if that is an accurate system to trust.
That I get...but don't you think that a different method of grading it should be used? You were comparing it to Fifty Shades (same score) and said that we need to be careful with it because it isn't the same as what you would get in school. Most folks who will look at it will see the B+...will think that the score means the same as what we are conditioned to thinking about grades. With them using actual movie goers for their system...should they use something other than a grade?
RT has sharknado at a 86%. Objectively is justice league worse then that movie? No
Its not rotten tomatoes fault but their system is fucking broken. That shouldnt be a big deal but a bad score on rotten tomatoes can drastically change public opinion. It can also stop people from going to the movie altogether.
Read “critic” reviews on the site. Many of them are just simply terrible.
“Justice League is just about the most drab and lacklustre superhero epic ever made”
How is that a valid review? This is supposed to be a review of the movie. There’s no nuance to this. Theirs no in depth analysis of why its “bad or good”.
Thats the equivalent of rearranging a question into an answer on a exam.
“What is a combustion engine?
Its a engine that combusts” its fucking stupid.
There are many review that just straight up say “its the worst movie ive ever seen” objectively how ridiculous is that statement?
Objectively rotten tomatoes is a worthless site to actually see if a movie is good. The problem is majority of the public does see this
If WB wants to fire somebody, fire the execs who keep imposing changes in runtime and tone MID-PRODUCTION!!!
Hey John, there was a 4th JL prediction you got wrong! You predicted it would be the highest grossing comic book movie of the year!
People, all films are subjective.
I enjoyed Justice League, but I'm not shitting on People for hating it.
I honestly thought JL would outperform Thor Ragnarok on opening weekend even if Thor was the much better film and I did my part and saw both on opening weekend, love all comic films, but Thor was the much better film and had the stronger marketing campaign imo.
I am shocked that JL is doing under 100 million bucks on opening weekend and while I dont see JL 2 coming out anytime soon they will still continue to make their solo films such as Wonder Woman & Man of Steel 2.
I feel bad for the people who have worked hard on these DCEU movies, but as a lifelong comic book fan who did not like these movies, I'm hopeful that this will lead to brighter days ahead. From what I can tell it all comes down to MOS. If you liked it, you've pretty much liked all the movies. And vice Versa. WW seems to be the exception. I disliked that version of Superman so much that there was no way I that I wasn't going to carry that baggage into BvS. And Bvs just compounded the baggage, and so on.
I feel the same way too. The firt 2 DC films were a disrespect to the comicbook characters they represents. It's not the tone that's the problem, it's the character build up and narrative flow. So it carried over to this film since it is a continuation of their story. Although I was surprised to like this latest DC film. But I will not be surprise if they just reboot everything from here on.
Sorry to say this but only just Dc fans go to see these movie after Bvs pretty much everyone goes to marvel movies it's a true fact
With recent CinemaScore grades, I'm surprised you didn't include Wonder, John, since that got a rare A+.
IDC What any critic or person's opinion is, or whether DC calls it quits or not... I can say I got to see a live action Justice League film and I LOVED it. Definitely buying on bluray
Jason Berry fuck yea
Preach!!!!
Mr. Blonde great f***n movie man.
ShilsWW so many things I loved about this.
Jason Berry It seems like we are the minority here. :)
I love cavill as superman, and affleck as batman. Honestly I don't know how WB could screw this up so bad. I'd really like to see the theatrical cut and then a "Snyder Cut". I want to know if the reshoots and everything was necessary, I liked the movie I saw in the first two trailers, not the one that was released.
Ayeeee! I saw my question! I had the Star Wars question lol. Thanks John:)
Marvel is for critics. Dc is for fans. But everyone's a critic. So nobody showed up for JL.
BvS really lowered my expectations enough for me to enjoy Justice League but I honestly wouldn't watch it again if anyone paid the ticket 😰
The DCU is too tainted by BvS and now scarred by this Justice League outcome.
Is a reboot the best choice? Or continue with a really weak foundation? 🤔
I wouldn't want to be i the position of whoever is in control of this right now.
both marvel and DC have their core fans the difference is marvel has found the formula to attract the general audience
Richard Donners (Superman 78') Holy Grail ... and his prize pupil is Kevin Feige.
I learned of Sinemia from your show. Used it Friday to see Justice League at an amazing true IMAX theatre. Just as you said, it more than paid for itself. Thanks John
My favourite scene in The Incredibles is when Mister Incredible discovers what happened to the other superheros while the awesome score by Michael Giacchino plays in the background !
Thanks for sharing the comparison on moviepass and sinemia was contemplating which one to get. Love the your show!
Great Video John!
WB gets what they asked for. They didn't focus on quality. Unfortunately it's us, the audience, paying for it in every way.
The entire DCEU project was poorly conceptualised. People are asking the wrong question. It's not "why can't WB get it right?" its "how did Marvel get it right?". Shared cinematic universes are like the MMO craze that overtook gaming some years back. People saw the ocean of money World of Warcraft was making so they tried to copy that success. But its not so easy. Look at what happened to the Universal Dark Universe. Look at Fox with X-men Apocalypse. As soon as they tried to do the shared universe tablesetting they killed all the momentum of their X-men films. And now WB.
John, the most powerful force users in Star Wars are the Mother, Father, Son and Daughter of Mortis. But obviously you were talking about the normal mortal beings like everyone would when asked that question. It's fact that Yoda, Luke and the Emperor are the most powerful (with Anakin being the most gifted force user but never reaching his potential) Vader is no where near Yoda or Emperor levels with the force. That list could obviously change in the future with people like Rey or Snoke being further explored in the films.
Awesome show John !
Don't forget John, you also predicted that Justice League would be the biggest box office comic movie of 2017.
Point the finger at WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara, he mandated the under 2 hour runtime for Justice League.
He also greenlit Suicide Squad under the condition that Ayer can pen the script and be ready to cast and roll cameras in 6 weeks, while the Guardians of the Galaxy fever is still hot ... he also sat Ayer on the bench and gave the movie to TrailerPark.. the guys who made the SS trailer.. not only to write and direct reshoots but also to make the theatrical cut of the movie (TrailerPark just makes and edits music videos and commercials / trailers)
That's so cool you chill with Cody Miller now!
I wanna see a flick with you guys that's awesome John
I think saying BvS and Justice League are “divisive” is a huge understatement. I think it’s clear that most movie goers did not like BvS and the best reactions for Justice League seem to be “its okay” or “it’s not great, but it’s fun”. I know film is subjective, but I honestly just don’t know why it’s so hard for WB to make films that people most people can agree is good. Marvel has missteps as well, but generally it seems that most people like their movies. There have just been far too many superhero films for WB to still be making films that are mainly meh or bad, in my opinion.
People still have a bad taste in their mouth from BVS (although I liked it, a lot of people i know HATED it). Most people liked Wonder Woman in BVS so yeah they would give her movie a shot but when you bring back the same Characters and Director from BVS then I can understand why people aren't interested. But honestly I can't understand why this didn't do at least $110 mill opening weekend. When wonder woman came out everybody on my social media (who weren't even cbm fans) was saying how excited they were for Justice League. Maybe the excitement died down for people. Maybe it's the holidays and people aren't trying to spent their money at a movie theater, maybe Thor is just hurting them, maybe that Punisher on Netflix really did keep the cbm nerds at home, maybe all the secrecy of the review embargo and rotten tomato score had people concerned. I Dunno lol
Eric Salisbury then how come the weekend box office ended up being less than Suicide Squad which has Margot Robbie walking around in her panties for 2 and a half hours?
How dceu shoud went:
1. Superman
2. Batman
3.Batman vs Superman
4. Wonder woman
5. The flash
6. Justice league
7.Aquaman
8. Suicide squad
9. Shazam
10. Wonder Woman 2
11. Man of Steel 2
12. Harley and joker
13. Deathstroke
Zstrico Agree
Lol John you're not supposed to eat the shells of Almonds!
I think what also hurt Justice League is the tone of the film. A lot parents take their kids to see comic book movies. Given the darker tone of the DC films, it's not surprising that parents would not take their kids to see the ultra-violent Batman they got in Batman v Superman. Marvel knows who the audience for comic book films are; that's why Marvel is so successful.
Me personally, I hardly ever see films opening weekend, I don't really care to be in a packed "elbow to elbow" seated showing. I prefer if I can have a open seat for space,.
41:58 "I can't. not again. I'm not strong enough" 8 words. that's all you need. here's your answer right there.
For a comparison, Iron Man opened at 98 mil back in 2008.
17:45
Those sneaky Almonds getcha every time...😏
40:59 John doing his best Klimpaloon impression (Phineas and Ferb deep cuts for all you fellow Phineas and Ferb sweaties! I know you're out there somewhere!)
th-cam.com/video/23htC7XeyMM/w-d-xo.html for those of you who aren't as big of a Phineas and Ferb fan as you should be
We all knew there was a bigger eminent threat that lurks the JL and Dceu, in which they must defeat for the sake of their survival. Their grave mistake was in thinking it was leading to Darkseid when in fact, much to their dismay, it was … Rotten tomatoes!!
JL failing at the box office seems so easy to me. JL is a sequel to BvS. BvS was hated by the majority of moviegoers. So, a sequel to a movie people didn't like making way less seems par for the course. Thank you for explaining cinemascore & why a B+ is a terrible grade.
Actually it was only hated by a vocal minority. Most were somewhere in the middle. But overall it has a positive rating by viewers.
MrMpa31 if only a vocal minority hated. Why did it make so much less?
ravissary a B cinemascore is Terrible....watch Campea's breakdown on why a B+ is a bad score
MrMpa31 BvS wasn't a well liked movie, it was mostly a mixed bag and divisive. And really negative going by the RT score. And only just scraping by on the audience score of 63% compared with a more convincing score on other CBM movies. So that doesn't sound like a vocal minority to me. If you liked it then I "celebrate" that though.
Ryan Justin
Hate may be a strong word but you don't won't the audience in general leaving the theater with a feeling of meh towards your movie. Means the next time that same person may decide to skip it sequel as it's not worth the price and wait to see it's on home release, going to the movies is expensive these days. A movie like BvS should have been universally loved and if it was it's sequel would have made more.
Cinema Score says the audience gave Justice League a B+. Rotten Tomatoes says Justice League got 86%. Thats a B+. So its safe to say, its a B+
Even IT made more money than Justice League at the US opening weekend. Who saw that coming?
Seems like a lot of people were expecting and wanting more of a direct follow up to Batman v superman, as though a lot of people came to enjoy the film in the couple years since its release. Wb, being reactionary in nature, changed things mid game to cater to what people originally indicated they wanted, only to change their minds when they realize Batman v Superman actually offers more than just quips and throw away gags. If they went with their original plan, which many people wanted to see, it would have been better in a lot of different ways. Its not like it could have been much worse. What do they do if they reboot and people still hate it?
John, personally I hope that doesn’t happen. I feel like no matter what they do, there will be backlash. If they scrap the DCEU people wont go out to watch Aquaman. Why invest interest in a character that has no future. And if you decide to give up on a cinematic universe and do individual solo movies, people who actually liked the DCEU won’t support that either, out of spite. People have waited forever for a Justice League movie and now if they cancel, some supporters still won’t come to watch individual solo films, (at least not right way).
Something your missing with the difference in critics vs. Audience scores is that the audience members who go to see a movie are going because they like that kind of movie (generally.) Critics have to see almost every movie even if it's something they wouldn't normally be interested in. This causes movies with specific fan bases, DC, My Little Pony, 50 Shades, to have higher audience scores because it's not all kinds of people going to see these films. It's the fans they go see them, for the most part.
Hi John, the 1 billion overall gross ain't over yet. The last two fast and furious franchises made a billion overseas alone despite not earning as much as the others in North America.
As a nostalgic DC fan, I'm hurting and disheartened what WB is doing to the DCUE. It's a damn shame Suicide Squad did better during opening weekend $133.6M than Justice League!
My rating: 3/5
My daughter is a huge starwars fan, started with the prequels at 5, She's now 8!!
Wb is doing to DC what Sony did to spider man and it needs to stop
Not really. Sony rebooted Spider-Man and tried to improve Spider-Man by making a few changes, but didn't do well. WB on the other hand, just keeps making the same mistakes over and over again.
I agree, I am a diehard DC fan and what pisses me off about some of the other DC fan is there a blind loyalty. The DC fan saddle sit there with a straight face and tell you that Batman V Superman is better than Avengers or Civil War. Pretending that your favorite comic book companies movies are better than the other guy doesn’t mean that that is reality. Now we have a DC Universe without superman without flash without cyborg and a Batman that can only appear in movies years before he met Superman and Wonder Woman. Sense because they don’t want to reboot, if we ever do get another justice league movie the team will feature Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, and Harley Quinn. Don’t give me wrong I’m happy that Aquaman and Shazam were a great movie but if you’re going to have a DC Universe without superman and Batman, then you might as will be watching the next CW crossover event, oh wait, even they have a Superman’
Finally, someone with a large viewing audience is point out how completely unreliable the audience ratings are on these review sites.
The average general audience member *DOES NOT* use review aggregate websites like Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB, even if some of them may use one of the individual critics. The audience reviews are made up of people who actually take the time make an account on one of these websites and is willing to be a regular participant. Many users and many trolls have several accounts, and make it a point to artificially inflate scores for films and studios they like or deflate scores for films they dislike or competitors. These websites are aware of the problem, and websites like Rotten Tomatoes are actively attempting to rectify the multiple account/troll problem.
I really want to see you do an actual video about this Cinemia card because it sounds like something that would work better with more people than Movie Pass.
Hopefully an explanation from someone who liked Justice League will be able to put an end to all this "It's a conspiracy!" type of mentality which surrounds the DCEU receptions. A good breakdown of how it actually works.
While we can't absolve Snyder from blame for JL, we must also recognize that his hands were tied.
some of the movies he gave examples of for cinimascore have their own unique audiences like 50 shades darker, in which the people who actually wanted to see the movie liked it.
This is why I don't trust IMDB ratings. There were negative reviews of the Force Awakens a week before it opened with people saying they hated the trailers
Gee ticket prices in Los Angeles are ridiculously expensive. The theaters and probably a lot more nicer and better but still. Now I understand why you'd want MoviePass. My local movie theater is like $11 for 3D. 850 for 2D.
You can upgrade if you have movie pass already
John, if the critics are all saying the DCEU is "moving in the RIGHT DIRECTION", surely WB takes THAT into account and preserves the universe....
Hard Boiled Entertainment But it's money that makes the final decisions, not what critics thought
We don't see Academy nomination marketing for established actors, because it detracts from the film if the actor is well established and hasn't won an Academy Award. Every film with an Academy WINNER, will advertise it. For example, not even one Merrill Streep movie hasn't advertised her academy wins.
Scrap the extended universe, stick to stand alone movies and stick to just Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. NO MORE TEAM UPS. !!!
About the scoring question is dead in. The truth is that WB has failed to capture audience of all ages. I feel like they are just targeting one specific audience
1. WW
2. JL
3-5. Doesn’t matter. They were all crap...
The negative press leading up to the movie and the RT score killed it, hands down.
after seeing his love for Star Wars on TRL and the Movie Wonder, I'm calling it now.
Jacob Tremblay will appear in a Star Wars Movie down the line.
I saw justice league today.movie felt a little rushed(they cut a lot of footage).
cgi villain was not that good.
Not so funny humor(I bet they added it in the reshoots).
Other than that it was good.I enjoyed the movie
I agree. Plus, JL finished 2017 as the Number 10 Box Office Movie of the Year despite all the mishandling by WB mentioned by John in this video. That seems to indicate really strong fan support for a JL2 movie if another studio takes over the DCEU from WB and only Batman is recast for JL2 to avoid any further negative news regarding that part of it.
Dc should go a different route, start off by making a movie about Darkside his backstory -motives etc
In my screening of Dredd was Packed and the film still sadly Flopped.
You can if you are already a member, I did..when you sign into MoviePass.com it has switch. You pay $89 upfront..normally customer service is great, it is when the price drop happened when the CS crapped out.
hmm here in the Netherlands i have this ''Pathe Gold Unlimited'' pass. Wich mean I can go for 26 euros a month to every movie for ''free'' in the month. Imax, 3d, Dolby plus 25% discount to snacks and drinks. Also you can order your seats. Now *that* is amazing.
ClubSoda hallo
I upgraded to 6.95 a month with movie pass and I'm not a new member. It's a no brainier.and I saw Thor Ragnarok multiple times
I think the downside of the Cinemascore rating is the people being polled are the people that SAW the movie. And many of these films, (50 Shades, My Little Pony, Despicable Me 3 etc) are only being seen on the opening weekend by the people that really are into these franchises or films. So its verified from people there, but the people that wouldn't waste their money aren't there to make that score more accurate.
One factor which I didn't see John or commentators mention is that _Thor Ragnarok_ came out just 2 weeks before. A lot of people have limited funds to spend on movie-going, and a lot of them spent what they had on Thor. I think that JL just came out too closely to another major comic book movie. With any luck, the box office drop-off in the next few weeks will be small.
John, stop saying 'BOOM'! 😜
Hey John, are you saying since Shawsank Redemption is #1 in IMDB that this is not a true rating?
Hi John, Your explaining the audience rating with some bias that those movies are bad. Should you not just convert the B+ rating into numbers like its equivalent to a 7 out of 10?
Its hilarious to see everyone singing the tune that I have been saying for so long. I have said reboot the DCU for over a year now. And I really love all the movies. But I saw the bigger picture.
the $89.95 annual/$6.95 monthly Moviepass membership is available to new and current members. there is information about how to switch to the 89.95 annual membership if you are already a member in the FAQ on the moviepass website.
In order for D.C. To be successful they HAVE to get a person of the same talent as Kevin Feige, Period!! This person also has to have the same power and influence over all D.C. Films with detailed outlines for each. Team up films must take place after solo films that build up on characters which we must be made to care about. This formula will then further make team up films more successful! Example, I didn't know anything about this Auquaman before going into JL.
WB just messed it up. They should’ve given Snyder strict instructions on story telling, runtime and the overall feel. They could’ve avoided wasting money on reshoots.
You also have to take into consideration that the cinemascore is based on a group of people who were already inclined to like/love the movie, hence they were there opening night/weekend. So if you are already inclined or interested in the movie, you will most likely fit in with that score. So people who went to see the My Little Pony movie got exactly what they wanted, a My Little Pony movie that was much like the series, thus A-. If the MLP movie went in a strange direction that their fans didn't like, it would have received a lower score.
It doesn't reflect the quality of the movie, or denote that it is a must see movie for everyone. It just means that if you are already interested, it will most likely meet your expectations and you will enjoy it.
They should reboot tbh, and get the right people for to play Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor and etc
Serves them right, they were rushing to make that billion by doing JL without establishing the league and it burned in there face, maybe they can do some self evaluation now and not be so reactionary
I LOL every time John mentions My Little Pony has a higher rating than Justice League! In this video and in the box office disaster video. Omg hilarious! I personally enjoyed Justice League for the characters presented individually & as a team. I will see the film for a 2nd time in theaters on Thanksgiving.
In my country (Beglium), there is a theatre complex which let's you watch unlimited films (1 person only ofc) for 18.90 euros a month. So i've got to see 3 or 2 films a month (depends on the screening) to make profit. It's kinda the same system as Moviepass, but i can watch multiple films the same day!
I sometimes, watch 3 films at the theatre on the same day. It's one of the best deals i've done in my life, and I'm enjoying it so much! I litterally saved hundreds of euros, and you can smuggle food as well! Love my theatre man!
Rotten Tomatometer is a small sample size. IMDB is much bigger although there is an argument that some haven't watched the movie and do multiple ratings, this is a small sample size as well.
It's all subjective. What's an A to one person is a D to another. Logan on cinemascore has an A- and Power Rangers has an A. Go figure.
I have to be honest, I might not have called it at the beginning of the year, but once I'd seen the initial trailers for Ragnarok & Justice League, I had a feeling Thor 3 would make more money.
Hi John. I know this isn't movie related but I"m just curious how you became a Patriots fan? I know you are from Canada and so I'm just wondering how you settled on New England to root for?
John, the Spiderman "changing the foundation" plan DIDN'T always work. Toby McGuire era--ONE bad film after two GREAT films...and Sony overreacted and rebooted despite a solid foundation. Andrew Garfield era--ONE solid film, and one total and complete mess. The problem is not the foundation. Maybe it is the marketing. But changing the foundation would be overkill. See: Wonder Woman.
Hi John, Really enjoyed your analysis & explanation of all the news concerning the JL movie plus the closing comments about all of us being movie fans & allowed to have different opinions. Great closing point! Now, I am hoping that once another studio takes over from WB they will keep most of the current JL actors (and current planned movies: AquaMan; WonderWoman2; Man of Steel2 and Flashpoint). Really hoping the make Flashpoint with Ezra Miller and use Ben Affleck to fulfill his final commitment in the DCEU. Then, use that as the basis for re-casting Batman/Bruce Wayne for those next films and JL2!!! Hoping they add Hal Jordan as Green Lantern to JL2 as well. Once WB & DCEU rights are sold what are your updated thoughts in March 2018?
How come there are no time-links in your description anymore to the different topics?
