  • Today at Ewetopia Farms, we decide that it is time to stop feeding the bottle lambs by hand and start training them to drink their bottles from a holder. You would think this would be a seamless transition but the babies love to be handled while taking a bottle so there is some training involved. We also go through our daily chores and see several groups of lamb races today. We also get to see races and playful behaviour by the replacement ewe lambs while out on fall grazing pastures. We also bring in a treat for the young Dorset lambs in the Coveralls. Hope you enjoy your time with us today!
    With sheep farming, there is always something new to learn. At Ewetopia Farms, we try to incorporate learning opportunities when we encounter them as we go through daily life on our working sheep farm. We attempt to show life as it truly is on our farm and to present things with a touch of humour. From lambing to breeding to selecting quality replacement lambs to removing manure to relaxing with the sheep - it is all part of our lives as Canadian sheep farmers!
    Sheep and sheep farming is our passion and we hope that the love we have for what we do is obvious to you the viewers. Our operation is a large scale, purebred seed stock sheep farm combining the best of pasture and confinement to manage the flock for maximum comfort, minimal stress, and producing a consistent, very high quality product.
    I hope you enjoy this video. If you would like to follow along with us and experience life on a real live sheep farm on a daily basis, please subscribe do that you don't miss a single episode! Thank you for taking the time to watch! We love to hear from you so be sure to leave a comment as well.
    Thank you from Lynn (aka the crazy sheep lady) and Arnie (aka the sheep whisperer)!

    Beautiful fall foliage for a backdrop for the frolicking ewes! Bottle babies took to the holder relatively fast. All the lambs are growing so fast, looking good!

    I like the new intro, Lynn. The lambs took to that bottle feeder very well. Less chaos that usual. Frolicking sheep of all ages are the best things to sit and watch! Tammy was really putting on a show!

      I've seen it for years but I still find frolicking sheep of any age the best part of having sheep

    Another wonderful day on Ewetopia farm. Those lambs look like they re totally having fun. And you made me laugh with air Suffolk. They definitely were hitting some air. Adorable. Glad to see a frisky Chewy today. You just have to love her. The replacement ewe lambs were having so much fun out in the pasture. Wasn’t that cute with Tammy and her fancy foot work. They just make you want to love them. Thanks for the smiles today. Big hugs to you both. ❤️❤️

    Gosh the first time you used the bottle feeder there were three lambs on in 15 seconds! And the Autumn foliage-how it has changed in less than a week. Glorious.

    What gorgeous views of fall on your property!!! I guess some lambs are quick learners with feeding. That makes it .easier for the others by having a role model . Tammy continues as always to be full of character and so much fun!! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!!

    Happy Thanksgiving Lynn and Arnie, we had our bird at Kejimkujik National Park cooked via coals. The trees on the drive down and back(and in the park too) were super pretty and while it was a cool day the camp fire was beautiful.

      Wow, that does sound great. I find that everything tastes even better if you eat it outside in nature! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

    N.H. gets people(called leaf-peepers) that come from others states to look at the changing of the leaves, we have people also from our own state too.

    How does it cost to bottle raise a lamb ?
    Also what is mortality rate on bottle lambs ?

    • @EwetopiaFarms
      @EwetopiaFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically we say they eat a bag of milk replacer at approximately $100 plus the equipment you use to feed it and your labour. We consider our bottle babies as break even. We don't find that bottle babies at our farm have higher mortality rates than non-bottle babies. We hand raise our bottle babies though. The results may be different on a machine but I don't know because we don't have one.
