Instead of using a cut up piece of a credit card to scrape lines in my flower I decided I'd try using a dip pen. I really liked the effect but you can still use a credit card if you like!

That was fun, Lindsay. I painted right along with you. I saw the pen technique used on another you tube video for animal portraits. It's such an easier method, I think, than the credit card. Thanks for the fun.

So pretty! I love the work with the dip pen. I like the detail but it's still organic and not as harsh as a black pen.

Wow! I like how that dip pen gave more control, but still allowed the watercolor to shine. Beautiful! You are so inspiring and I love what you do. Thank you for sharing.

I love the way the dip pen worked, Better then the card works and easy to hold. Looks beautiful Lendsay. I had Irises around my house that we used to live in and they are so beautiful , but ended up digging and weeding them out because they Multiply so fast and eat up the dirt ,so I ended up sharing them with the neighbors. Thanks for sharing Lindsay! I love your paintings.

I just restarted your loose flowers course; I was only at Lesson 2 when my 'series of unfortunate incidents' began last Fall and I had to stop. This tutorial looks like it would fit right in with the course. I love the idea of the pen as a scraper. It would give me more stability for fine lines for stamines , etc. Thanks for adding more ideas for loose florals- I just love them!

I love how you used the pen! And the timing of this is like you knew what I was thinking.
Last week I was going to buy a pen and some ink for a project I wanted to try & I talked myself out of it because it was going to be a one use type of thing. I've tried to do lettering in the past and it's not my thing. Now I'm definitely going to pick one up because I will use it for watercolor - I love when you show use multiple ways to use supplies!

Gorgeous! Love the use of dip pen! Regarding cats drinking paint water, mine do too. As there can be toxic substances in watercolour paints - I think they're things like cadmium, cobalt, phthalocyanine, etc - I keep two jam jars of water in a plastic ice cream container so I can place the lid on firmly if I'm ducking out to the kitchen to make a coffee. The ice cream container also helps prevent spillage as I'm pretty clumsy! Lol.
