One reference you missed is that "silver river" refers to the Milky Way in Chinese astronomy. The 'liminality' you mention has even more meanings than just sea and land, but also water, land, and sky.
What course is this? Where? It's great somewhere this is being taught. Tang poets are relevant today and so are the intellectual debates of the early Tang. This period should be taught more. The three religions/philosophies of China are so divergent. What other country has three teachings which in time have fluctuated in influence. All having some merit.
