I haven’t ever had any problems with it scratching mine, my truck does have a protective cap on top of the tailgate. And the supports that hold it front to back both have padding.
Thanks for the review, although I'm not sure why you spent all that time busting up the rock in the middle...you only needed to break it away from the edges where it would deter the load from moving.
