Proof that you don't need to have a voice like Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury to create an unbelievably great vocal melody. Every syllable is so perfectly entwined with the music. My favorite B&S song.

i've been a belle head since '98 but i find this is the album i come back to again and again, the soul style melodies and upbeat pacing. i cant fight and say it's their best but it's my favorite

In high school, we had a performance we would do every year that was constructed of a lot of different scenes and TV shows that the students wanted to do themselves. The intro do this song was played everytime one scene Andes and a new one started, I can still hear the distant “SSSSHHHHHHH” before the song starts 😂

Just got the CD from Ebay today in the post. Yes, I can listen to songs here on TH-cam, but I wanted a clean set without lossy.
So the question is why get a CD in this day and age. Well, this albun is special. For me to get a CD off Ebay is very rare. I know good craft and The Life Pursuit has it. It's nostalgic too. The songs could come out of mid-1970s am radio. They of course would be major hits had they been released then. A pinnacle of pop-music art. You don't get albums like this very often.
CDs on eBay are way cheaper then Digi downloads.
Now order every other Belle and Sebastian cd you can get your hands on. You won't regret it.

Cheyenne Stirling Anything by the Velvet Underground or David Bowie. This song is heavily inspired by people like Lou Reed and Bowie and like Rock N' Roll. And of course Belle and Sebastian has a many songs like this.
