It's sick how I still know every rider in this video even tho I wasn't even racing moto in 2004, just from watching vurb videos religiously growing up.
These were some of the golden days of moto...I grew up racing and riding during these years and it’s surreal thinking back on it. Stewart and Carmichael were at their peak revolutionizing the sport, tracks were open everywhere and packed, and the amateur scene was huge. Bikes hadn’t gotten to be Uber expensive at that point either. After the economic crash in 08 is when it went downhill and hasn’t been the same since.
I miss these days. Being the same age as poto, i was so envious of the Thor setup, OG tech 8’s and helmet fin. Cap it off with a team green ride. Man those were the days! Boni, Trettel, chubby ass zacho! Dude this is pure nostalgia!
I’m the same age as both of you...I remember watching Alesia and villopoto battle it out at mosier valley back in 03 and at lorettas that same year. It was insane!
@realmmfc my ATV National Motocross Championship mechanic would also wrench on ZachO’s bikes at the local D29 Series races Zach showed up to race. He did an entire engine swap back in 2005 at the Sandhills MX in Chesterfield, SC which is beside where they built ClubMX. I remember Bobby (my mechanic) changing out my chain & sprockets after my first moto and then running over to Zach’s trailer and taking his spare KTM motor and putting it in his race bike. I still can’t figure out why he didn’t race one of the back up bikes he had in the trailer. There was also a few guys there racing against him that were smoking his ass and this was the 250 A & 450 A classes. Stephen Cooke, Michael Bonner, and Mike Evanson to name a few. It was wild to see the Factory KTM Fox Racing kid do battle with two guys who showed up in a beat up white S10 pickup and bikes with duct tape numbers 🤣🤣
Matt Townsend I remember being at races like these too...these guys were going plenty fast enough to crash and really do some damage. I miss the hell out of those days. When Whitney died after 2010 it was like the final nail in the coffin of this era.
Greatest era of amateur motocross racing ever. Some absolute studs in this video.

Those were the days, mixin gas, only scrubbing singles, and just pure speed and thats it
Miss Lake Whitney. Such a fun track.
Miss the days of the red and green wheels. Mostly black now 😥
He was so amazing at riding and still is! 👍
The golden era of motocross. Rough tracks and bikes that weren’t so damn fast that when it all goes south it goes south and ends horribly
